A beautiful day - went to Lifepointe Baptist church. Very good worship band. All enjoyed the experience and stayed for coffee after worship. Went shopping with Beck, Amanda and Jo - for 2.5 hours!! Good fun? Others came home for lunch, etc. Beach walk in afternoon - Tate wanted to eat sand! Spent some time lodging travel insurance claim on Kat's costs. Good day!... read more

Cold in Melbourne - 22 degrees in Queensland!! Left home @ 5:30am to fly QANTAS to Brisbane. (No Kat on board - she was unable to fly - high levels of iron - very sad!) Tate was a little restless on flight! On arrival - couldn't find Eliza and Hayley's suitcase for 15 minutes - minor panic! Hire cars - Thrifty (3) - wanted to charge $41 each car for "late pickup"!! Jo came in and said "That's ridiculous!" I think the girl didn't charge us after all!! Drove to house - 58 Beachway Pde. Marcoola - absolute mansion - really nice!! Big shop - played games and went to bed.... read more

The moment you find out you have Long Service Leave - the realm of possibilities opens up to you. At first I was a jumble of thinking - what to do? where to go? So many different ideas swirling around in my head - overwhelming! I began to look for direction and of course - everyone has their own agenda when you ask for input. Nothing felt REALLY right in my heart...then at 3am (after surfing the net for hours and hours) I ran across some old photos of a past life - MINE! I used to travel - a lot - but the memories of those places are tainted with pain associated with the marriage dissolution that occurred later. Without even realising it, I had begun to open my heart back up to travel again ... read more

Whether you have purchased a jet ski for the first time or a seasoned professional looking for a new favourite spot, look no further than beautiful sunny Queensland. Queensland is home to some of the most stunning beaches and lakes, perfect locations for your next jet ski adventure. My friend John, who is Brisbane tourism specialist and founder of Australian Business Directory says that Queensland is one of the best spots for boating and jet skiing. “Queensland is so lucky to have amazing beaches and oceans, not to mention the fact that it is nearly almost always sunny here!”, he says. First on the list of best places to jet ski in Queensland is Paradise Point on the Gold Coast. Due to its number of canals and adjoining access to Coomera and Pimpama River, the Paradise ... read more

Twin waters We spent the first week of our holidays at Twin Waters on the Sunshine coast. We love coming here, as it reminds us of the Aussie version of a place we stayed at in Waikoloa Hawaii. There is a hotel (Novotel) on one side, complete with water activities, pool, golf, archery and segways to name a few. A large manmade lake is in the middle and is the perfect place for the family to enjoy kayaking, sailing, riding stand up paddle boards to name a few. Kids can also enjoy the jumping trampoline into the lake and fish feeding as well. Our most favourite activity was the aqua park. We all had an awesome time at this park (but man did we feel it in the days that followed!) We stayed at some units ... read more

After spending the weekend with my parents, Linda and I left Brisbane on Monday morning to continue our northward migration along the Queensland coast. After taking the Gateway Bridge over the Brisbane River, we then took a quick detour over the Hornibrook Bridge to check out the Redcliffe Peninsula; before later turning off the Bruce Highway and onto the Steve Irwin Way to see the Glasshouse Mountains. So named because Captain Cook had been reminded of the glasshouse furnaces in his native Yorkshire when he first saw them, the Glasshouse Mountains are actually volcanic crags that have been left standing while the earth around them has eroded away over the past twenty million years or so. In any case they are a startling sight, rising straight up out of the otherwise relatively flat coastal plain to ... read more

My first official "sight-seeing" day was to the Sunshine Coast, about an hour from home-base. First stop was the Eumundi Market, a colourful, bustling spot, showcasing a kaleidescope of offerings produced by local artists and artisans - sights, sounds and smells confirming that I am, indeed, far from Portneuf, Quebec. (Actually, the lack of snow was an instant tip-off.) img=https://scontent-b-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-9/10675761_10152853341150956_4535609693809720247_n.jpg?oh=38666043a385db38168f237460cf00d6&oe=55015709 Aboriginal art was on the menu: And of course, something for the doggies:img=https://photos.travelblog.org/Photos/274532/866099/t/8289876-Eu... read more

Leaving Rainbow beach we backtrack to the Bruce Highway and head south, our journey is interrupted by several major roadworks, good to see they are at last trying to fix some of the problems associated with this road.We have traveled this route many times and do not feel the need to pause and visit any of the seaside hamlets and towns on our way.We are heading for Mooloolaba a town we have visited many times and is one of our favourite places on the Sunshine coast. First charted in 1861 by lieutenant Heath RN the area was soon noted to be a great source of timber and by 1864 a timber trade was established sending timber to sawmills in Brisbane.Other ventures soon followed and fruit and other produce began to be shipped to Brisbane. The area flourished and ... read more

Leaving Chareville we head toward a small town on the Darling downs Chinchilla and we are hoping to take advantage of a free camp at the Chinchilla weir, the only free camp we are aware of that has free electric hook ups.The journey takes us through towns and hamlets we had passed on the way to Charleville so we are basically backtracking most of the way.Along the way we see fields begging for rain, some parts of this land has not seen rain for over three years and it shows. However as we near Chinchilla the scenery begins to change and we begin to see green grass and foliage. Chinchilla is a small town with a population of just over 5,000 and rising .Established in 1877 when the railway from Toowoomba across the Darling downs was being built. The ... read more
