Alright, so now it's my turn to blog about the last 2 days. Boy do I get the fun ones! Yesterday, we slept in and then did our usual walk to Manly along the beaches from Balgowlah, where Maja and Steve live. We had a fabulous lunch at Hugo's, a restaurant right on the water by the ferry that goes right into the CBD at Circular Quay. Hugo's was voted "Best Pizza in the World" in 2005 and has consistently won "Best Pizza in Australia" by various awarding bodies every year. Damn it, the pizza was tasty. We'll have to go back again. We've considered adapting our gelato rules to Hugo's pizzas. We dropped off 4 rolls of 35mm film at the local shop, feeling like complete losers. Who uses 35mm film these days? Oh well, ... read more

I'll keep this one brief as we haven't done too much to write about. And I mean that in a good way. We've just been taking it easy. Sleeping, eating, drinking and hanging with Steve and Maja. We haven't even taken any photos. I took Shane on Saturday night for his birthday to Cafe Sydney, a gorgeous restaurant in Sydney Harbour. M&S were off at a birthday party in town so we went for drinks beforehand and then Shane and I ate loads of tasty seafood and had a lovely bottle of wine. When M&S got home a bit later, we stayed up drinking and went to bed around 3am. The next morning our heads were a little bit fuzzy, but we did manage to get in some wedding ring and grocery shopping. And that's about ... read more

Wednesday, our first full day in Sydney, was rather relaxing. Maja was so excited by our arrival the night before that she took the day off work and the two of went went to the beach in Manly and did some grocery shopping. Having woken up at 4:30am, I was a bit spacey but pretty darn content. Shaney stayed home all day to recover from a dodgy airplane food experience. We have officially decided to take a page out of SarahKate and Andy's book and bring our own food on flights going forward. I had made a secret appointment with Maja's bridal shop to get my bridesmaid dress made so off Maja and I went in the evening to sort it out. I got to see Maja in her dress, which was, as those of you ... read more

We're grouping days 6 & 7 together as it really was one long, uncomfortable day. We're in Sydney!! We stayed in the T5 Sofitel at LHR on Sunday night (so lovely) and took off Monday morning for Oz, arriving last night on Shane's birthday (23 hour flight). It was really not a fun birthday for him as we were stuck on a plane for most of it, so we're going to be celebrating today (Wednesday). We're really sorry for basically lying to all our family, friends and workmates for the last couple of months. It's been really tough! Our "UK Driving Tour" portion of our trip was indeed made up. And why did we do this? So Kramer, Shane and I could watch Maja have a heart attack. Quite sadistic, we know, but it was totally ... read more

13 May - g'day, greetings from Oz! I arrived in Sydney last Friday. I'm having a wonderful time here and loving staying with my mates Leigh and Darren (and Surf the dog) in their fab bungalow with scrummy home cooking thanks to Leigh. They stay in Dee Why so I'm experiencing beach living in the suburbs and could really get used to it... I've explored some great places here in North Sydney - Dee Why, Manly, Curl Curl and Cremorne. Just one full day in Sydney so far, and that was today. It's a superb 'commute' on the Sydney Ferry from Manly to Sydney Harbour. Visited Sydney Opera House this morning and then did the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb... what an AMAZING experience. After getting all kitted out in a fetching jump suit, harnessed up and ... read more

Gud'Day Mate! So after 3 months of excited anticipation we finally made it to Sydney to meet up with Kim's sister, brother in-law and newly born niece - Isabella. The flight from Tasmania was a little bumpy which prompted Kim to suddenly burst into tears, scared that she might never get to see her family. We touched down safely, relieved that we wouldn't have to get another flight for at least 4 months and made our way from the airport to Sydney on the train. As soon as we got off the train at Circular Quays we were knocked back by the sight of Sydney Harbour Bridge on our left and the Sydney Opera House on our right, not to mention the overwhelming heat. Kim's family live in a suburb called Manly, which is located on ... read more

Friday - off to Sydney! I was excited that we had an early flight out of Adelaide back to Sydney. The sales meetings were over and now Ron would get the chance to be on vacation and we would get almost a full day on Friday and all day on Saturday to take in one of the world’s most beautiful cities. WRONG! Our flight was delayed, then canceled, then re-scheduled, then canceled again, then consolidated with another flight that had been delayed, canceled and re-scheduled. It was a mess and we spent all day Friday in the Adelaide airport and finally departed around 5:00 that night. The good thing was we were all together and made the best of it. The airline gave us vouchers for $25 worth of any snacks we wanted in the airport ... read more

Well this one has to be write retrospectively as it was sometime ago and the years have flown by, it's not 2014 and I'm on holiday in Santorini, Greece. Work takes it toll and time just keeps on ticking. As such this will be more of a summary of some of the highlights of living in Sydney and taking in the Australian dream. We arrived in Sydney after leaving south east Asia and it's a just as warm here but much fresher and less humid. We let Jay know we have arrived and find ourselves a hostel to kick back in. The first we do is get ourselves a smorgasbord of olives, delish meats and breads to welcome us back to western society, oddly this was all bought from Woolworths which is still going in Oz. ... read more
