Well it is now Sunday 21st Jan and our last day in Sydney - it is hot hot hot, although Manly Beach is closed because surf's up - but up too much - honestly these Aussies are such wimps! We arrived last Monday to find my friend Pippa and her youngest son Tom waiting at the airport to meet us - haven't seen her for 15 or so years so amazing she recognised me! She had arranged for us to use the house of a friend of hers - well what a house and what an area - we were so sad not to be staying in a hot, dusty caravan park! The next day we headed into Darling Harbour in the city to wildlife world with Pippa and her boys, Tom, Max and Joe. Kieran ... read more

Since Christmas we have been doing a lot of relaxing and chilling on the beach and watching the new 50 inch plasma TV. Johns aunt, Annemarie has kindly been letting us use her care which was great, unfortunately both John and I have had our licenses stolen so Cam was the only one able to drive. Lucky for us she could as we have been able to drive all over the place. Last week we drove over to Bondi beach!! Even though we have the northern beaches on our door step we thought it would be rude not to go there. The sun was shining so we packed our bags made some sandwiches and set off. To get there we had to drive over the Sydney harbour bridge which was pretty cool. We then had to ... read more

In a disasterous manouver, I have lost my new Scottish friends. I don't think they liked me very much, which shocks me as the bar we went to was by the side of a ferry wharf, so could make an wharful lot of ferry funny jokes. On the plus side, have now moved into my 2nd cousin Chelsey's apartment in circular quay (right next to the bridge) which is unbelievable. (On the 4th) After staying 1 night in Manly backpackers, which was rank. Went out accidentally that night with Chelsey and her brother Seb's girlfriend to meet other cousin Charlie in a bar where for the first two hours you played rock paper scissors to see if you paid for your drinks. I won four lagers which was super. Went to club. had a short dance ... read more

As a result of the night out on Tuesday, I bumped into two Scottish girls in the bar, who I made friends with. This has now doubled my previous best "friend total" which makes me happy. Came across to Manly yesterday morning, booked into hostel. Hostel wasn't lovely. Didnt help that I'd had to check out my chuffing hotel at 8am that morning with what can only be described as a hangover. Anyway, lounged on beach for a while (weather still a bit crap) and met my two new friends. We (I) was very excited to have people to play with, so on the grounds that the weather was still a bit crap, we went to a Bavarian Bierkellar place on the waterfront and did beer tasting. This started about 3pm and finished about 9, when ... read more

Hello, I am now in Sydney... yes they let me in!! woohoo!! so this will be my last blog about Asia... since I last emailed I left the Internet cafe and ended up going for a long wander along the beach and onto the road and round to the next beach. I also stopped at a travel and tour place and booked a tour to see a few of the islands around the place. I then wandered back to the area where we were staying and went to a restaurant and had some lunch. After lunch I made my way down to the beach and sat on the beach reading and people watching for a few hours. I then went for a wander along a different area behind the town before going tot he pub where ... read more

Thursday 21st Dec I got up early to get ready for Paul’s arrival. I got the 6.55 shuttle to the airport with all my bags- I now had 2 -one full of presents and things for Paul to take home. I got a text of him as he arrived and as I stood waiting for him I kept seeing people who looked a bit like him. But then I saw a red t-shirt and new it was him. Of course he came down the entrance furthest from me so I ignored the do not cross line and don’t leave your bags to go and meet him. We then got on a double decker train and then a ferry across to Manly were we stayed in an apartment which is very modernly finished. While Paul caught up ... read more

Dec 14th - Day 28 Headed back down to the Circular Quay again today on route to the ferry to Manly. It was a beautiful day and the ferry was full of youngsters on their way to the beach. So along with the crowds first stop was the beach itself. It was quite a long sweeping beach and by the time I got there, there wasn't a lot of free sand. Had a bit of a paddle, wasn't that warm, and a people watch. It's good to see that the bikini is as popular as ever, and for the ladies its speedos on tubby middle aged men. Not pleasant. After the beach started the Manly Scenic Walkway. My intention was to get halfway, have my picnic and come back. The walk was very pleasant, but it ... read more

Hello Bloggers!! Well, we are here in Sydney. Sorry we have been slack on the blog entries, we have been busy finding a place to live! We have now got a place to live in Harbord, which is right by Manly. Our house is one block from Freshwater Beach, and a short walk over the headland to Manly beach, which is always packed with people. We are sharing with two Aussie blokes, Hugh is a fireman and in his late 20's id say, and Adam works in publishing and is 22. They are both really nice, and we have been out to our local pub a couple of times. Its right at the end of our road, so thats pretty lush. Corinne and I where in there on Friday night, as was the entire Manly Rugby ... read more
