We woke up and exchanged cards and presents (we both got baseball hats). We put on our new boardies that we had bought with our christmas money. (thanks dad and Anna) We made our christmas dinner which consisted of chicken legs, sausage rolls, ham and cheese sandwiches lots of goodies and a couple of bottles of cheap wine. We walked up to Oxford Street (the gay capital of Sydney, full of gay bars etc we are definitely in the minority) where we caught our bus to Bondi Beach. After a 20 minute bus ride we arrived at Bondi to the glare or blazing sun, a beautiful sandy beach and hoards of christmas revellers some wearing santa hats and tinsel. We checked out out the beach to find out that no alcohol was allowed on the beach or ... read more

Hey everyone. So im finally in sydney - I nearly burst out crying when I saw the opera house (i know Lee - im such a sap). But before that news. update on m.bourne So Claire and Gem arrived on saterday which started off an awesome weekend. WEnt to stay with Claire's family (the Hendersons) who are such lovely people. WE all went to town and went out on saterday night. Claire was like "lets wear skirts" and I was like "sure" (I think we picked the coldest night in melbourne). By three in the morning on the street I was about ready to become a human icicle (spelling - aah). Sunday we went to look at the art gallery and my friend Mish (Nip) cam from Traralgon to see me (which was awesome). My dads ... read more

I have left... *sigh* I've just realised that amongst all my ramblings herein, I haven't really described the atmosphere and the energy of the people.. but really it is quite unsummable. I would not be doing anyone any favours with attempts to categorise and describe the natures.... Suffice to say there are symbols in the woods, that epitomise the community environment and living lands... see picture Definitely the 'Rainbow Region'. Letterboxes from huge old-fashioned metal milk jugs congregate at the end of long dusty driveways and long, vertical coloured flags hang in the still air... children wear wings and dance with ribbons, mothers cradle their babes in cloth slings and dance together to the beat... we wake and take a swim in the clear waters of the sea then follow breakfast with leafy greens of home ... read more

Got up at 9ish. Caught the train and bus to Bondi Beach. Stopped at Westfield Shopping Centre to get towels and sun cream. Got to the beach about 11am and it was already 30oC and we could feel it. Swam and sunned watching the beautiful people passing by. The only down side was the wind was quite strong and sand get everywhere. (Was still finding it in the fat rolls in the evening!!) About 12.30 had to leave the beach because I was cooking, even with the suncream on at Factor 30+. You so easily forget the intensity of the sun. Went to the beachside café and had ham and cheese croissant. Eat that and then sat on the lawns above the beach. Once again got too hot and had to leave. Realised we didn’t have ... read more

The last few days have been quite interesting... that's for sure. Last time I wrote, Michelle and I ended up going to bed super early that night because we were completely exhausted. We woke up early the next morning and grabbed some breakfast at the bakery. Sean (our friend from Ireland) came and met up when he woke up and then we decided to Venture out to Manly Beach to meet up with Brandon and Derek. We stopping in the city so Michelle could cash in some travellers cheques. Then we headed to the Wharf to take this ferry over to Manly. It only cost around 6 AUD. The view of the harbour was nothing shot of spectacular. When we finally got to Manly, the guys were wating for us. So we all sat down and ... read more

I know I haven't written back sooner but we've been super busy and I am a really good procrastinator. So.. here's the scoop... We arrived early Sunday morning and around 6am. We met up with the two guys we met in the Honolulu airport (Brandon & Derek). They are both from Ottawa. They decided to come to the same hostel as us because ours sounded better that theirs! And an Australian we also met same Bondi was safer than Kings Cross. Haha! So, we found the shuttle pretty quickly (it cost us each 10AUD) but the stupid shuttle driver dropped us off at the wrong place (but we didn't notice until after he already drived away! Luckily for us, an Australian girl (around our age) gave us a ride to our place. It was a super ... read more

Arrived in Sydney. Scott and I bought a camper van this morning and it is soooo groovy! It is brightly painted with flowers, mushrooms and a sunshine, and has curtains, a bed, carpet, a little camper stove and a cabinet to keep all our clothes etc in! The weather here is weird. It was pouring it down with rain this morning, so we spent all morning getting soaked whilst running around trying to buy a van. Some of the ones we looked at were pathetic, but when we saw this one we bought it on the spot - hope its OK. The weather is nice now and we are at Bondi Beach...guess why I am here at e-mail instead of sunning myself and regaining the tan I lost in New Zealand? The retard at check-in in ... read more
