Our plan today is to visit Bondi. Using our Opal cards to full advantage we caught the Light Railway to Central Station and the caught a bus to Bondi. This took us down Oxford Street through Paddington - the other side of Sydney. We spent five hours on the beach and Dave braved the waves a couple of times, great fun but a bit exhausting for a soon to be pensioner. Both of us are feeling a bit cooked but it was good to have a relaxing day. Our return to the apartment took us down Market street past the designer shops and along side the major skyscrapers. It was fun to people watch as we walked and we saw another side of Sydney. Again we took advantge of our kitchen and Lyn prepared pie and ... read more

Hi everyone, we're currently down at Bondi Beach watching the surfers ride the waves. Looks hard work if you ask me, we've had a dip in the water and it's cold. It looks a dull day, very cloudy but it is very hot, quite a few people are down here sunbathing. They have surf schools here, each group are in different colour surf gear. Right now we are in the RSL club having lunch, it is right on the front and we have a fantastic view of the beach so watching the surfers as we tuck in. We ordered sweet potato wedges and king prawns and salad, huge portions and very cheap. Apparently the RSL stands for Return Services League, they have photos up of the service men who lost their lives at war. If you ... read more

Woke up that morning and went looking somewhere to have breakfast. I could have just gotten something at the convenience store but since I was going to be doing a lot of walking that day I opted for a full breakfast. I found a nice restaurant that served breakfast nearby and had a regular breakfast of egg sandwich with bacon along with some orange juice. It was not cheap being almost $11 dollars. I reminded myself to try to stay within budget for the rest of my Aussie trip. First stop on the day was another post office. I should explain that I send a lot of postcards while traveling it does save me the trouble of buying gifts and bringing them in my luggage. This time I was posting a package to New Zealand. It ... read more

Hello, we are back again ! I went on an exploring trip today from East till West Sydney. I started off with a visit to the famous Bondi beach, it is a really lovely beach, beautiful coastline, cute women... After staying there for a while and a nice refreshment, I headed off for a new adventure in Sydney Harbour! I was surprised with the tall buildings and the big city appearance. I had 3 main goals: Visiting Sydney Harbour for the special architectural monuments and visiting Bondi Beach. (Visit an aboriginal camp) I ended up completing the following today: Visit and stand on the Harbour Bridge Visit the Opera House Royal Garden walk-through A trip to Bondi Beach Have a nice walk around town It was a long trip with a lot of walking and I ... read more

Thursday January 16th, 2014. Rozelle, Balmain & Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia We woke up the following morning and D joined Rachel walking her neighbour's dog. M went back to sleep. After Rachel had left for work we unpacked our suitcases (for the first time in 2 months) and hung our stuff in the wardrobe. Last night Rachel had advised that she was joining some friends at the Flickerfest at Bondi Beach tonight. She had asked if we would like to tag along and we had agreed. We had to wait to find out if she could get tickets though. We both felt we had pretty much done NZ (with a few exceptions) but realised that Oz was a different ball game. This country is absolutely enormous. There is no way we can drive around it like ... read more

Damen i skranken kigger lidt mærkeligt på os og siger “you’re not on our list”... “Aaaaaaaah, kan det nu også være rigtigt” tænker vi. Vi havde med vilje booket bilen i god tid (juni måned) for at få det hele på plads. De slår op i deres ... read more

When I red at school the announcement «6 weeks in the Kangaroos land for an exchange that will change your life» I thought: that's a real pity. Never gonna do this. Never get the permission. Then, one day, my father said: «Why don't you join this awesone experience? Why don't you fuckin' do that?». I didn't even ask to me if I was ready or not. I just started to dream about the adventure it would have been and so on. After days & days of waiting, finally the answer arrived: I was matched to a partner. Someone on the other side of the world that was waiting for me. Someone on the other side of the world that was probably trying to imagine which kind of person I was, what kind of things I like. ... read more

Decided to take the bus and walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach. Have nice big breakfast and off I trotted. Arrived at Bondi Beach where there were plenty of surfers despite being quite cool. There were also some swimmers in the open air swimming pool at the side of the beach. Walked the cliff path first to Bronte, Clovelly and finally Coogee. Walk takes about an hour and a half but kept stopping to take photos ect. Caught the bus back from Coogee to Circular Quay, indulged in fish and chips on the quay and then stayed to watch the light show which is called Vivid. I it started at six o clock by six thirty you could barely move I should think the whole of Sydney was there. The lights on the bridge were ... read more

Another nice Emirates flight and we made all the way to East Coast Australia and Bondi Beach where we bought our first Aussie lunch (ouch...so expensive!) Jed and Hailey, who we met in Thailand, met us and we caught up at their house for a little while before heading out to explore. We had a nice walk along the beach filled with buff people in gym clothes and covered in tanning oil! In the evening we carried on socialising with a few drinks in the RSL with some live music. The next morning we were off to the market for Brekkie rolls and then headed to the shops so Jord and I could by a new camera as ours broke as soon as we stepped off the plane! The afternoon was spent lounging at the beach ... read more
