DAY 409 I was up bright and early this morning and went in to the kitchen, it was like the Mary Celeste, as quite as the grave. The kettle was put on and tea was made, I knew this morning that Helen, and Robert were up at Hazeldene weighing sheep ready for market, Helen had told us what was happening so we wouldn’t feel like we have been abandoned. This morning Ross Jilbert from Landmark would be there at 7.00am to verify the count and the weight of the sheep. We have met Ross before a very nice guy who we met the very first day at Woodstock back in February, 05/02/2009 blog day 90 Weigh to Go, well I had said to Helen that I would like to pass my Christmas wishes on to Ross, ... read more

Hi Everyone, We would just like to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year. We bitterly miss everyone and wish we could be with you all, but you all are forever in our thoughts. It seems a little odd this year that the weather is predicted to be 30 Something degree’s and we fully aware that we are right in the middle of summer, where last year, it was virtually the start of our trip and everything was a bit of a daze, so we are looking forward to an Australian Christmas at Woodstock farm with Helen, Robert, Susan, James and a whole load more people. We are eleven hours ahead of the UK, so Santa will have been and we will have opened our presents and had our Christmas lunch before ... read more

DAY 408 My cold is well and truly coming out now, I stayed in bed until 9.00 but soon got bored and got up. I had some breakfast put a load of towels in the washing machine and did some reading. Helen received a phone call from Jason, but it was for us, Kristy, Jason’s partner was asking if we wanted to go into Wagga with them for some lunch, we thought it would be a great idea to head out for a spell, we had a couple of things that we wanted to do as well so a plan was formed. In the meantime Andy and I put the mattress from the swag bag into its cover and then back into the swag for rolling up, but before we finished Jason and Kristy arrived, so ... read more

DAY 407 When I awoke this morning it was hard to swallow, my throat seemed to have swollen to bigger proportions in the night, I knew that Andy and Helen will have gone out first thing, Helen needed to help prepare Eurongilly Hall for the carol service tonight, I wanted to help but I was still asleep when they left. Eventually Andy and Helen came back, I went out to see them but got sent back to bed again, I slept for a little longer but then just lay in bed to read for a while. Eventually at 11.00 I got out of bed, I could not stay there any longer. I wasn’t going to be up to much today, but needed to feel like I was doing something and besides if I spent all day ... read more

DAY 406 We were sitting in the Kitchen at Woodstock, all having tea and toast, Robert had already left for his long day and we were just discussing our possible plans, hoping for a productive day, there was all sorts to be done around the house in preparation for the onslaught of Christmas. Helens mobile phone sprang in to life, it was Robert, Southern Cross Irrigation had informed Robert that his parts were in and they needed collecting, Helen asked if we wanted a trip in to Wagga to do this. “No problem” we said, if we phone Jason we can see if he wants us to take his computer in and drop it back at the computer doctors where we only picked it up from yesterday. Caroline was feeling less than energetic this morning, but ... read more

DAY 405 Today we had two hits, Caroline and I hit the shops for Christmas and the Temperature Hit 42.3 Degree’s as recorded at Woodstock on the verandah. So today was going to be another busy day and we had a late night last night so I am feeling a little tired, but Andy brings me a cup of tea, I get up, shower and dress as today is Belly Button Day! After breakfast we are heading into Wagga to see the specialist about Andy’s umbilical hernia, we are hopeful that this goes well, but we have heard on the grapevine that all elective surgery at the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in January has been cancelled so that is not good news. Andy helps Jason briefly while he welds something out in one of the paddocks, ... read more

DAY 404 My plan for the day is to Help Jason and Robert concrete the paths around Merryville, so I was up nice and early and ready to go by 6.15am. Time is of the essence this morning so we really did need to get a wiggle on before the sun became so hot that it dried the concrete out and it becomes impossible to work with. Robert had taken the mixer attachment and fitted it on to the tractor and drove it down the lane and I followed in the Patrol, we all met at Merryville where work was to commence. We had copious amounts of ballast and bags of cement and already the day is turning out to be warm, it was 06.30 and about 26 degree’s already. With the mixer going we started ... read more

DAY 403 What started out as a quiet day actually ended up quite busy, Helen had gone off to school this morning, and we were sitting quietly in the kitchen deciding how we were going to tackle the day when Jason and Robert poked their heads into the kitchen and asked us if we would not mind driving in to Wagga to gets some bits made at an engineering company. We took the pattern of a rod joiner for the want of a better word, it had to be made to fit the threads we had as a sample, and the sockets were needed to be twice the length of the thread and a little heavier in gauge. Jason asked if we had Sat Nav, Andy said we did, it was just a human form, and ... read more

DAY 402 It was a peaceful night until about 5.00 this morning when the dogs barked, but that must be because Robert and Helen are up and about. It seems that Andy’s dog whispering may have had the desired affect, although a little bit more work on Tiny wouldn’t go amiss. Andy as usual was out before me, but a cup of tea appeared just before 7.00 for which I was truly grateful, I needed to be up and about early this morning as we are heading into Wagga Wagga, with Helen and a huge list of chores. I got ready, had some breakfast and everyone was ready to go, Andy and I followed Helen in her car as she is dropping it off at the garage today to have the air conditioning fixed, if there ... read more

DAY 401 Apart from a brief nightmare which woke me in the early hours, we had a relatively peaceful night, but then Susan let the two city dogs out at 5.00 this morning, which created a stir with the farm dogs, so, our morning wake up call was to howling, just like the Hounds of Baskerville. Andy brought me a cup of tea at 7.00 this morning, for which I was truly grateful, I sat in bed to drink it before joining the hive of activity in the kitchen, a feast for breakfast was being prepared, Helen on the bacon, eggs and tomato and Susan was making pancakes. Well, breakfast was yummy and we feel truly spoilt, but Susan had to hit the highway to get back to Canberra and Andy had plans for Helens pantry, ... read more
