Here are some pictures of my new apartment. Note the comfortable sleeping arrangements. I want to post of few videos of the place so you can get a real feel for it, but the internet in this cafe is too slow. Just imagine the house from the movie "Fight Club." I pretty much live in that, but I'm one block back from the beach, and right in the downtown area. Can you say, "30 second walk to the Kabob stand"? I can say it, several times a day. I'll have to post the videos on YouTube or something. I'll send the links when that's done We just found a refrigerator on the street across town today. We carried it to our place which was exhausting but necessary. Its current contents are beer and a chocolate bar ... read more

My brother, from Perth, is visiting us at the moment which is lovely. Steve drove mum, Richard and I down to Manly today and we met two of my other brothers for lunch at the Skiff Club. It was a little overcast but it was lovely watching the ferries come and go and watching all the sailing boats. What a relaxing way to spend an afternoon. ... read more

Our feelings on having our own children are no secret to any of you, that however does not stop from appreciated some of the beautiful children our dear friends have had. We had a beautiful Saturday afternoon hanging out with our friends and little buddy ETHAN, the newest addition to the Dutt household. On the way back to the cars, Kimmy and the girls broke off to visit the baby stores with Ethan. When the emerged Kimmy told me that we had bought a gift for Ethan, a little blue stuffed toy that squeaks. (why are baby toys and dog toys so similar?) Later that night I was told the toys name was “FREAK”, naturally I questioned the appropriateness of the name “Freak” for a baby toy. Then I learned the whole truth of the purchase. ... read more

We’ve not had much blogging opportunities since leaving Sydney so for once I’m writing this blog much later than I do normally. I will try to remember all of the highlights and fun! Food &Wine: I’m starting with this because it was fabulous. Three meals stand out in my mind from our last week in Sydney. The first one was early in the week when Shane made us all an amazing feast of tuna steak starters, t-bone steaks, creamy mash and vegetables. And I made banana cake too for dessert but the steaks took the cake (haha)! Sommelier Kramer chose a bottle of Two Hands Gnarly Dudes (now my favourite but they don’t make it anymore-thanks for sharing Kramer!) and Abercorn Shiraz for the steaks. Amazing. On Thursday night Maja and Steve treated us to the ... read more

So, my first week in Australia has been an interesting one!!! Me, Lauren and Sam left for Australia on Sunday July 5. Our flight left Toronto airport at around 8:45pm and it was about a 4 and half hour flight to Vancouver. The flight felt never ending but we finally got there around 1:15am. Once in Vancouver, we got off the plane for about an hour and then boarded again at around 2:30am. We were supposed to take off at 3am but there was engine trouble and we had to wait on the plane for an hour and half before takeoff. We ended up leaving at around 4:30am for a 14 and half hour flight to Sydney, Australia. We got meals on the plane but the meals and our time schedules were totally off and it ... read more

Sorry to all the faithful subscribers out there for not having written recently! We have been having a great time in and around Sydney. We are starting to set up a bit of a routine, walking from Steve and Maja's to Manly harbour and back daily (1.5hours). There is a great coffee shop where I fetch my morning fix of 'FLAT WHITE COFFEE' (Australia's special coffee, better than Americano or Cappuccino). There has been a mix of weather here, nice in the mornings and rainy in the afternoons. For anyone who travels weather is often a deciding factor in what to do that day. Therefore, it has been nice to have some flexibility with timing and our main points of interest. WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO? We made it to the Sydney Aquarium and saw ... read more

Priscilla, Queen of our Hearts This blog is probably the hardest blog we have had to write. We always knew the closer we got to Sydney the closer we came to selling our beloved Priscilla, Queen of our hearts. This is our dedication to our sturdy steed, who took us places no other could take us. I @&%ing hate these cars I normally charge 500 bucks just to pop the lid, people die in these cars you know. Red Neck mechanic from Bachelor She wasn't just our 4 wheels (6 wheels if you include the spares), a recon-engine, fading gear box or broken air-conditioning, she was our bedroom, our carriage, our shelter and our friend, she would talk to us, tell us if there was trouble. “Beep Beep” “What's that Pris, two deaf old dears are ... read more

“Should we stay or should we go now” as the late great Joe Strummer would of said if he was staying in Mackay with Michaela and Trevor! We had a nice warm cozy bed with air-conditioning, a shower and soft toilet paper only feet from our room; not having to walk half way across a muddy campsite in the dark, a fridge full of goodies including Trevor's homemade Anzac biscuits and Rum Balls and not a warm storage box sweating under our bed in Pris; TV, wireless internet, a speedboat that can wake the dead when started up! So did we stay or did we go, it was a hard one and we did postpone our leave date a few times but we did finally manage to pull ourselves away from Michaela and Trevor's home ... read more

Abends besuchten wir g... read more
