Hi everyone I am currently sitting on the balcony watching the magnificent view as we sail into Sydney Harbour. It’s our last day aboard Voyager of the Seas and what an incredible voyage it has been. I feel like I have been living in a dream for the past two weeks. It’s been one of those holidays where time has gone slowly. I think it’s because there has been so much to see and do. Being waited on hand and foot has been pretty amazing too. We’ve taken a few pictures around the ship so you can see what it looked like. As I sit here and reflect, I can’t help wondering why we didn’t go on a cruise before. It is ABSOLUTELY magical. I’m not sure if all the other lines are as good ... read more

Also gesagt getan.

Day 3 we moved from the city in Sydney to the beach town, Manly. Lugging our suitcases for 3 hours was torture. Poor Leah felt really sick all morning, puking 8 times – once in the water at Sydney Harbor, which was actually quite hilarious. Maria documented the aftermath of that one too. We made it to the hostel; they forgot to keep our room open, so they upgraded us to a larger room with bigger beds, a mini fridge, and a tv! Our luck keeps coming. It was in a prime location – the beach was outside our doorstep. We tanned and grocery shopped to save money. Dinner was just like at Sill house over the summer! We cooked pasta, bread, and salad. The rest of the night we chilled and actually got sleep for ... read more

Sydney was a blast but we were all so exhausted from those last couple days and needed to relax. It was perfect timing because we had already booked the next three nights in a hostel on the outskirts of Sydney at Manly Beach (11/4/12-11/7/12). Bird’s friend Rose lives there so Bird would be able to visit her and Rose could also show us the good local beaches and bars. The hostel that we stayed in was really nice. There was free wifi and it was about a 30 second walk from the beach. We picked it for the beach location but had no idea that it was only about a minute walk from Rose’s house where Bird and Leah stayed. The luck doesn’t even stop there. I gave the receptionist our name and she realized that ... read more

I know, I know...long time, no blog... But I suppose working full time again has meant a bit less happens to write about! So here I am in Sydney, Back in the world of fashion, back in that familiar cycle of drawing, speccing, fitting, ranging, running around, shouting down the phone because the factory have put the wrong lace quality in the wrong colour on a top that looks like a 4 year old made it (hey, maybe they did)... And it's a world away from the last 6 months of my life! To think just a few weeks ago the most stressful decision I had to worry about was whether to have a VBs or spend the extra on a Cooper's pale ale (always the latter) and now I'm right back in the thick of ... read more

DANIEL PEAR'S FIRST EVER BLOG ENTRY thanks for reading this blog entry, I really do hope you enjoy it. TAKE 1. Right then here goes. Coming to you live from Sydney, Australia. It is now 11.03p.m and we have been in Oz for.... TAKE 2. So after writing the title and making a start on my first blog I was distracted by the offer of Whisky, a lovely chat with the cousin (once removed) and an 8 hour sleep, so this is my next attempt. Let's see how we go. I gather Carlas last entry came as we finished our trek, and wow! that seems like a long time ago now. So back in Pokhara we kept ourselves busy, eating some nice food, shaving heads, swimming in the lovel... read more

In the past 3 years, I've been to Australia 7 times each trip spanning either 4 days but mostly 2 months. Most of my time was spent in Sydney with trips to Brisbane, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Cairns as well. And more Sydney trips in the planning .... I love Australia. I love the beautiful beaches, marine life and then on the other extreme, the cosmopolitan energy of the cities. The dining, the shopping and the ability to immerse yourself either with "city" life or with nature. Fond memories include swimming with the sharks on Manly beach; strapped on a tank of oxygen and just prayed. (If you read my previous post, I cant swim. So I ignored the question on the form asking if I could swim to my own peril. Afterall, the whole purpose ... read more

Hi everyone! Just a quick update to let you know I'm now in Manly and I'm staying with Sara at the hostel where she works (Manly Boardriders Hostel). I spent my first week in Sydney at the Wake Up! hostel on Pitt Street and spent most of my time with the remaining TopDeck tour group. Wednesday was ANZAC Day so I've included a couple of photos of the parade, but the computer I'm using at the moment is a relic so I couldn't update everything I wanted to. I'm off into Sydney now with Sara and a few of her friends to find 'Pancakes on the Rocks' - amazing pancake restaurant! Yum. Will update again as soon as possible! Love Streets. xxx... read more

Yesterday I caught up with Rob, a Merlin ex-colleague, for a few afternoon beers in Paddington. Had a lovely time catching up on the gossip and was treated to fish and chips for lunch. Yes, yes - I know I'm vegetarian but there was nothing veggie on the menu and as it happens, I loved every bit of it. My stomach disagreed. It wasn't so appreciative of my dinner choice, as expected. That said, I'm not deterred - I may well have fish again before my time is up in Sydney. Maybe I'm taking the small steps to not being veggie in the future! Unlikely, however there is a chance I might go pescatarian (no meat, but fish OK)...watch this space! After my stomach returned to normal, about lunchtime, I headed over to Manly to go ... read more
