We’ve made it home. After an early start on Thursday morning we finally made it back last night at around 7.15pm. a big day of driving but we got there relatively unscathed. I did my best to ruin it by getting stuck in a big ditch as we were driving away from camp. You should have heard the Bronx cheers from the peanut gallery. Bastards! Eventually I got the old girl sorted but not before damaging her rear end somewhat. Just another thing to fix! I’ll be spending the next few days washing and cleaning the Mav and doing some repairs and general maintenance. I’m proud to say that I didn’t need recovering at any point but am also a little disappointed that it wasn’t a little bit tougher. That being said, it was fantastic and ... read more

Canberra Day 5 Some skippers still woke up very early even we all could have slept in! Since TK asked the girls to wake up Jeremy but not to go into his room, they decided to perform their special hand clapping on the outside wall of Jeremy's room. It was quite loud and made one not so happy 16 year old. We visited Questacon this morning and all enjoyed a variety of special scientific experiences. The best part was when Jeremy and Ellie were on the 360 swing and both successfully made the 360 degree rotation on the swing. After the Questacon visit, we walked across the park and Aboriginal Embassy land to the old Parliament House. First lunch then a quick tour. We all enjoyed visiting a special room called - Prime Ministers' room (?) ... read more

Canberra - Day 4 Charnwood School When we got in and started warming up, a crazy kid walked in and started swearing and throwing chairs. It freaked everyone out and we still can't get over it. Before we performed they had an assembly and they presented awards to who created some machines such as helicopters, a plane and a crane. We performed again and we invited Nicole Krause (Jazzy Jumpers ' coach) to skip in Double Dutch at the end. We went into their staffroom for morning tea - we had Dutch carrots, celery sticks, rice crackers with dips and chocolate muffins. We ate a lot of carrots and Nicole and some adults stopped us eating carrots. By Maya Evatt School This school has a disco every Friday and looked really fun. They seemed a fun ... read more

Canberra - Day 3 When we arrived at school we were told to walk through library and some classrooms to go to the multi purpose court. It was so cold and we wanted to go back inside. As there was no power point outside (and as it was way too cold) we were placed inside the gym. We were so happy. As we walked inside the gym we heard the band play "Pink Panther" in the next room. We performed really well and the audience enjoyed our show a lot. At the end we invited the preschool teacher to skip in the Double Dutch ropes and all students laughed. By Freya and Ashleigh When we first drove passed the school we saw the school sign say ... read more

Day 2 - part 2. We had a late start but it has been a long day. We sent kids all to bed so no one can update the blog but me. We had a joint practice session with Jazzy Jumpers this afternoon from 4:30 for the Raiders' game on Sunday. There will be about 30 skippers altogether on the field with us. We had a quick speed session with Jazzy then Jeremy and Ellie went through some skills with Jazzies. Younger skippers - Freya, Gabi, Maya, Ella and Ash made some new friends and they are looking forward to seeing their new friends on Saturday (practice) and Sunday (performance). Parents of the Jazzy prepared some afternoon tea for us. Nice! Dinner was at Gungahlin Lakes Club where we had pizzas. (It was way too late ... read more

Day 2! We had bacon and egg for breakfast and we played 'cheat' while TK and Freya are braiding kids hair. We got dressed and hopped on the bus. The first school was St Francis and Xavier where we performed in front of Year 7 students. We performed very well. Then we drove down to a park near a lake for lunch. We all played on the flying fox. We had to get a skipping rope to pull the flying fox back up the hill. Freya, Maya, Tk and I played the skidding rocks on the water on the lake. We were very careful not to hit the birds. By Ella McMahon Some year 7 students approached Jeremy at the first school. It's ok, Pete. Jeremy didn't give out your phone number this time. TK Our ... read more

Bus to Canberra! Such a great day in Sydney after the 2 weeks of solid rain!....... And we are driving to ACT............insane. We arrived at Nicholls in ACT just before 5pm greeted by Kirstin from the Heart Foundation. She had bought some food and goodies for us!! (NO French champagne. Oh she bought some strawberries though.) We waited for Ashleigh and Kelley to arrive then went to the very first significant event, GROCERY SHOPPING. Shopping for a family of 10 isn't an easy job but we nailed it. Driving in foggy Canberra was very challenging but thank goodness for TK's professional driving skills, we got there and back safely. No we didn't let Jeremy drive. (He is on his L plate.) All kids received a folder with an activity booklet, a pen, a set of coloured ... read more
