Andrea decided that we could just put her trip into my blog, rather than have her create a whole new one. It's been really fun exploring my own city, and taking pictures. There have been some things that Andrea, Grandmama, Mom, John, and I have done that I have already done, but I got to see something new today! Anyway, here's a summary of Andrea's visit: Tues.: Andrea and Grandmama arrived in the early evening. Then, the two of them, plus John and my mom, stopped by my dorm to say hello - John and Andrea came in to see my dorm room for about ten minutes. Unfortunately, I had to stay at my dorm to finish a paper due the next day, but the rest of them went to Chai's Thai restaurant, which is ... read more

I love Montana. I must have been a Montanan in a previous life or something because there’s just something about the place that seeps into my soul. Montana actually deserves its own travel blog but this is not the time to do it. Unfortunately, on this trip, we’re just driving through Big Sky country and the Idaho panhandle to get back to Washington state. My first visit to Montana was in 1995 on a trip with friends to Flathead Lake and Glacier National Park. I was hooked. I’ve been back twice since then, both times traveling with Cathy throughout much of western Montana. This time we head up north from Sheridan, Wyoming into the rolling hills of southeastern Montana. The brown hills are covered in fresh snow. Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument is right off ... read more

Loaded up in the morning and drove the nearly three hours to the Havasu Canyon trailhead, west of the National Park. We prepared for the 10-mile descent to the campground, and took off, as it was already afternoon. The trail down is switchbacked for the first mile or so and then levels out as you follow a canyon all the way down to the village. We were passed by 3-4 groups of horses (loaded up with supplies and lazy people’s backpacks) but saw very few people. By the time we reached the river, our feet were quite sore from all the downhill and Shane became irritable (hard to imagine). Lauren and Devon’s spirits remained unperturbed and we made it to Supai village soon enough. The springtime greenery down around the village was most welcome and ... read more

Squares - mindre parker mitt i stan. Mycket charmigt - fÃ¥r förhoppningsvis bilder frÃ¥n Nilo snart & dÃ¥ fÃ¥r ni se mer. ... read more

US Kiosk Project 2007 Route I am here in Chicago because of work again...groan... I was here last January 21, 2007 and I said to myself then I had to go back for a vacation. But I had work in New York, made a presentation in Washington D.C., assisted the pensioners in Los Angeles and San Francisco, all in the Philippine Consulate Offices.. When I was in New York, I stayed at Long Island, in Jamaica. The family I stayed with was very hospitable especially when I was down with cough and cold...imagine getting ill in New York...so I missed going to the outlet stores, watching a show in Broadway..aaahhh... I had the opportunity in seeing my mom and brother in San Francisco. They visited me at Maxwell Hotel..ummm..nice hotel at Greary Union Square. Am so, ... read more

FRIDAY 6 APRIL Why Changes in Latitude? My favourite recording artist of all time is Jimmy Buffet -- he of Key West fame (get it?). My favourite of his songs -- and arguably my favourite song of all time -- is called Changes in Latitude Changes in Attitude. If you don't know it, download it. If it doesn't make you think of me, you don't know me very well! So -- here we go! After a month of planning and driving my travel agent, Bianca, crazy, I am off for two weeks and two days to the States. The timing this year was great. Easter with Eileen, celebrating Kate's big birthday with her and attending Laura's Spring Fling for the first time in a few years. Let me just start by saying two things. First -- ... read more

08/04/07 - Beginning at the end of the road The Ambrose Hotel in Santa Monica dropped us at Avis - the only car hire place open on Easter Sunday it seemed and quite possibly the nearest car hire to the junction of Ocean and Santa Monica Boulevards, the official end of the historical route 66. We snapped the required photos of the Will Rogers highway plaque in Palisades Park and Santa Monica pier and then headed up Santa Monica Boulevard and into Sunset Boulevard for our last glimpse of the Hollywood sign on the hill. I was excited to see that our hire car turned out to be a Pontiac, being a make of car I’ve never driven and not so excited to see that it was pearly ivory white. Oh well - 28 days of ... read more
