I started today by going to get Fairmont Bagels. Really really good and cheap. Lonely Planet tourbooks are great and one of my fellow couchsurfers Lisa (Marylin had multiple surfers, 4 of us total on Sunday night) has one. I had an avocado still so I invented Avocado Breakfast Spread, which is avocado with milk and sugar. I think melted cream cheese could do a better job, but it was really good. Try it! put a heaped teaspoon and a tablespoon of milk (or try the cream cheese) in an avocado half and then mash it all up. Later I walked through town and I toured the Notre Dame Basilique which is unique for a million reasons but significantly because its stained glass is all depictions of the founding of Montreal. About 50 times as ... read more

CCC Crawford, TEXAS2001 Honda ST1100 COOL CATS CRUISE CRAWFORD The weather in Texas is not very predictable, especially in late spring. The weather records range from ice and snow to 100 degree heat. This year will be recorded as one of the coolest and wettest on record. The country side reflects the good weather with an over abundance of wild flowers and blooming plants. Old RT(99BMWR1100RT) and ST(2001HondaST1100) team up for a tour of central Texas to Crawford, home of President George W. Bush’s ranch. There are direct Interstate highway routes and Texas two lane crusin’ routes from our garages to Crawford. We are classified as Sport Touring motorcycles and that is why we always choose the Texas Two Lane route. Our escape from the garages requires a short Interstate 20 run to Oak Groove Rd ... read more

After finishing up at the Grand Canyon the race to Las Vegas was on, as we had tickets to see the show “O,” the water themed Cirque du Solei show. On the way to Vegas, we passed the Hoover Dam, which is pretty big. We stopped to take a couple of pictures and continued on. For our stay in Vegas, we were lucky enough to stay in a nice, gated-community home owned by Allison’s friend Brittany (a fellow Theta...yay!!). The house was sick, with a pool, hottub, outdoor fireplace, plasma TVs in every room, and just an all-around awesome place. We sat shocked for minute, at both how great the place was and how lucky we were to stay there, but then quickly got showered and ready for the show. Looking our best, we went ... read more

So we didn’t take off today. We’ve popped into the Sandpiper Restaurant for lunch and I just powered up the computer to write this entry; our plan was to continue walking to the Tides after lunch, another half-hour or so from here, to get online. And holy cow! There’s free wi-fi RIGHT HERE! We’re crapping our pants over this because we could have been using it all this time to check the weather, and it’s so much closer to the marina than the Tides. This morning we listened carefully to the weather reports (while I creaked away on the stair stepper) and decided that while the conditions aren’t ideal, we don’t gain anything by waiting another day or two. Winds are predicted to be in the 15-25-knot range at the high point (late afternoon), and ... read more

Hey guys, sorry for the delay in posting our blog, but it has been a busy and stressful and exciting time for us. We haven't taken many photos yet. SORRY!! June 27th So we have 5 days till we leave Canada….whoa!! The past year has gone by so fast. LOL. It seems like there is so much to do right before you leave and we have to make sure that we meet up with everyone before we leave, so the last two weeks have been so busy. Dinners, poker and more dinners….I even won $30 from Stephen and he has a whole year of knowing that…LOL. I have been busy ripping dvd’s and completing any other computer, financial tasks while Brandi has been busy packing. Hopefully we don’t forget to do something. Both Brandi and I ... read more

Colorado Day 2Regis You all may be shocked to know that I woke up at 7:30 this morning to go climbing (ok... it's 8:30 home time, but still impressive). We went into Heather's shop to pick up my gear and I managed to walk away with a Black Diamond Harness, La Sportiva Shoes (from Italy!), and a new orange Nalgene for only $100! I 3 Heather!! We met Heather's friend and coworker Mesa at the shop and headed over to Jurassic Park (yup, that's seriously the name of the place) we climbed the Index Toe Route on the Dinosaur's Foot. The climb was near Lily Lake. Since I'm such a newbie I decided to wear my flip flops figuring I'd just change into my new shoes when it was time to climb... big mistake! In Illinois ... read more

Long day today of over 500 miles, yet quite possibley the weirdest 500 miles I have ever driven in my life. The day started at around 930am with a quick nip to grab a photo of the Carson Mansion in Eureka, for some reason I expected this to be in quite large grounds and far away from anything else, but its basically just another house on a street. The drive starts 270 miles ish to Crater Lake, the vast portion of the drive was uneventful, although the drive through The Jedidiah Smith Redwoods State Park was very nice, however this paled into insignificance once you start up to Crater Lake which is simply just road after road flanked on both sides by forest, unfortunately photography doesn't work that well in poor light, but hopefully one ... read more
