Buenos tardes amigos! Estoy en Atlanta! I have to say, LARGE AIRPORT! The walk from my flight to my connecting flight to Buenos Aires was 2/3 of a mile! I know, I'm living the rough life...Anywho, one interesting note from the flight here - the guy sitting next to me had the sweetest 80s feathered mullett and I think had been treating himself to a few captain and cokes prior to departure. My suspicions were confirmed when I overheard him on his cell phone (pre takeoff) talking to who I think was his significant other saying, "Don't worry, 2 jack and cokes on this flight, and then 2 on the flight from Atlanta) - I'm sure his lucky lady was relieved to hear that. He then ordered a movie and was shouting and making gestures toward ... read more

Oh my god. Now the weather is hotting up and getting muggy. We used our second water taxi pass and went down the to the Battery Park district which is where the Statue of Liberty is. We checked out Wall Street and got on the water taxi and did a one hour tour of the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge. You cant go close to the Statue of Liberty since 9/11 so we just did a boat tour near it. Hung around the South Street Seaport Mall (which is like Fishermans Wharf) to get out of the heat, went shopping and taxied it back to the hotel. Boy this city is tiring. I dont know if it is the heat, the constant walking or just being a tourist but we are pooped. Having a ... read more

Today was a big change in weather from Yesterday. Today we saw Snow on Mount Fernie, and some of the other peaks. In town it was cold and wet. For some reason I chose today to go on my long run for the week. I ran for about 135 minutes - around the hills behind home. A new trail, and some fantastic views. ... read more

(Somewhere between Flaggstaff and Cameron): In Arizona I thought a lot about cacti. Like Saughrou Cactus. We’ve seen Prickly Pear Cactus and one other and I don’t know what it is. They all have very sharp spines. They hold a lot of water. We didn’t see the Saughrou on this trip yet. I hope we do find it. Also, I really enjoyed the Grand Canyon. I got two badges being a Junior Ranger at each national park I went to. You get a badge if you do 4 or more activities in a book. This is the haiku poem I wrote: The snake stalks at night The river has wildlife here The canyon is big. Millie is fixed. Hip. Hip. Hooray. Now, we are back on the road. ... read more

Lindsey and I headed out of the little town of Moab after spending some time in the sun next to the pool. We haven't really spent much time relaxing like that so we figured that we'd take the opportunity. We didn't really have a destination in mind, only that we were going to her cousin's house 14 hours away. We got into the car and headed west. The drive was pretty much uneventful until we reached Salt Lake City. We got to see the Great Salt Lake, which was beautiful. We got out at a rest stop along the highway and checked it out. We had actually taken a wrong turn and ended up on a different highway, which eventually lead to the one that we were looking for, but we were glad that we ... read more

We have had fanstastic weather this week on Cape Cod. The last few days have been a regular heat wave. The family was all exhausted after the whale watching trip so we slept in on Day 4. I let the husband sleep until 10:30, after all it's his vacation too! When everyone was finally up, we walked across the street to Craigville Beach. The kids really enjoyed running in and out of the water and trying to build sandcastles. Craigville Beach is one of the nicer beaches on the Cape from what I've read on Tripadvisor.com, and I can see why. It's pretty large, there are lifeguards on duty (several of them spread out along the shore), plenty of parking, and two snack shops if you get the munchies. The beach is located on Nantucket Sound ... read more

I spent the day of the 26th in San Francisco. From the airport I took the light rail system (the bart) to West Oakland and walked from there to Berkely where my friends are staying on a J1. On the way I walked through many parks and I stopped by a memorial to the San Francisco earthqauke. Oakland is nice, but poor relative to the surrounding areas and there were many homeless and drug addicts along the route. The public schools however proudly publicised the redevlopment and new funding they´ve recieved for the children in their care. There were many homeless in Berkely and San Francisco city centre too. They seem quite harmless (many are mentally ill and should be in hospital), and the weather isn´t too harsh on them. My friends could only find accomodation ... read more
