Long drive today - not sure but I think the longest of the trip at 572 miles, I was right with yesterdays comments about not much to see, but what was weird is the American version of UK motorway service stations or as they call them Rest Stops, all they are is toilets and a drinks machine - if you want feeding you have to stop at a town and there are signs on the Interstates which quite literally say - Food Next Exit and then tell you what food there is, be it Subway, McDonalds, Burger King etc. Anyway as I got near West Yellowstone I could see what looked like a huge cloud coming down from the sky, unfortunately it was a cloud going the other direction and is an example of what can ... read more

Tonight we went to a small Bible camp about 45 minutes from here (not unlike the one in Lambert.) The couple that runs it works with RVICS in the winter. We had a hotdog roast, and then toured the camp….they have farm animals, as well as miniature horses and goats. The mini goats had babies about a month old, and they were smaller than the barn cats! They played around like baby lambs, but they’re colored, and I can’t even explain how cute they were! Then we hiked to a point overlooking the Red Deer River that had a breathtaking view. The river is very high this year, and it’s a wide, slow moving river. The hills surrounding it are green, but have stripes of coal, clay and limestone, so the colors were very vivid, ... read more

Reporting in from one of the most unique places I've ever been (OK weird, but I am setting a rule to be kind) - Solvang - just outside Santa Barbara. It's a town settled by Danish immigrants who did their best to replicate home style architecture. The shops range from Danish pattiseries, to shops selling danish artefacts - everything is red and white, blue and white and staff dressed in Danish national costume. Clearly strict planning laws have kept this town along a road to... well I'm not sure where. So from the start. Flight good - full - no sleep despite sleeping tablet - lotsa films and food. Compliments Qantas. Arrived San Fran and travellled into downtown with fellow Aussie. Must be a good bloke as he lives in Hopetoun Rd, so we decided to ... read more

so i headed out to baltimore just for the day. didnt know exactly what was there just the babe ruth museum, sports legends museum, and camden yards where the baltimore orioles play. i got there early enough to go see/read pretty everything in the museums. i liked the babe ruth museum the best, has all his baseball achievements, what he did on and off the field. the guy was a pretty cool person. best story i read, he wrote a letter to a sick kid that was hospitalized and guaranteeing him a home run on his next game. he ended up hitting 3 homeruns for the lad. shit maybe i'm a hero to, last time i told flavio i can take 2 shots of tequila in a roll and i ended up taking 5 shots!! thats ... read more

After 30 minutes of being on hold with the feds, they couldn't help. Even though Minette and I are leaving in 4 days, Zerian and Ann are leaving in three weeks. That is clearly outside the 2 week window which qualifies one for help. So, another 30 minutes on hold with the feds and a slight distortion of the truth--July 18th is two weeks away, right?--and Zerian's passport is "being expedited." This means that Alice on the phone has sent an email to someone in Seattle. Now, once the passport is lifted from their backlog and 'expedited' Fed EX will be overnighting the passport from the Seattle processing center to our house in Seattle, which will be empty, as Minette and I will more than likely be leaving before Z's passport arrives. So I will happily ... read more

I woke up yesterday morning to an incredibly 'spotty' looking face. As you can imagine this pissed me off greatly, but I got kinda confused, because I was like.. WHY?! Ok, Ive been eating shit and getting alot of sun but I looked like a chicken pox victim. So after a day of moaning and whining, I washed my face later on and my face was sore. I looked closer, and they are fucking bites. BITES. MOSQUITO BITES! ON MY FACE! only 2.... or 3? BUT WHATT Excuse the foul language but its the only language I can use to express how much I hate Mosquitos. Im not writing anything else because all the world needs to know is how sad I am that mosquitos love my bloooood. I went skating today and I rolled up ... read more

The Team is back nested in the familiar with sweet thoughts of the past 3 weeks. As the days unfold and we have had time to process all we experienced, the impact of our trip is taking hold. Son & Mom will never be the same. We will attempt to share the major observations from the trip, leaving the most intimate thoughts just between The Team. * As much as the liberal news media would want the world to believe, the God Bless the USA is truly blessed by God and is a phenomenal place to live. Citizens in the US have the option to live the Simple Life as in the countryside in Romania BUT US citizens also have access within a few miles to the best the world has to offer. The Team ... read more

UntitledRegis Phew... today was ROUGH! Went for my second ever outdoor climb, and it was amazing but I had a hell of a time making the trek up to the climbing spot. We climbed the White Whale today which has three pitches (separate climbs). I've never done a multi-pitch climb before and I was really worried that I couldn't make it but there ended up being enough of a break between climbs that I was fine. In other good news I managed not to injure myself! There were four of us climbing, Jay, Heather, Robbi and me. Jay did the lead climbing up to the belay stations towing my rope (teal) and Heather's rope (pink). Once he got to the belay station and had us hooked in Heather started climbing and I followed her up towing ... read more

Wednesday, June 27, 2007 We arrived at the Banff Visitor Center by 8:30 am. Didn’t go into the town - - too congested. We stocked up on hiking books, maps and bear spray and we were off. The weather was beautiful; mid sixties to low seventies and no wind, just a little breeze. Frank has been anxious to see some wild animals. I read that Lake Minnewanka had a herd of Big Horn Sheep that hung around the parking lot so we decided to check it out. No sheep, but we did take a short hike around the lake to Stewart Canyon. Frank happened to spy an animal crossing the path in front of us and it looked like a mink to both of us. It had a deep brown coat and bushy tail. Hard to ... read more
