Well! Well! Well!!!! Yup it is just me again:-) Back in the mad crazy NYC, I've been back for a few days now:-) Since I've been back I did the Brooklyn Bridge (got yelled at by some crazy New Yorker for being in the bike lane while taking photos, but I don't care!), uumm what else did the Statue Of Liberty, although I didn't go inside it! You have to pay extra to go inside and who wants to pay $6 to walk up 100 steps!! Not me!!! Too lazy and it wasn't worth it!!! So I just walked around Liberty Island instead:-) The statue was cool to look at and its not as big as you might think...After that got the Circle Line to Ellis Island, which used to me Americas main immigration centre, now ... read more

Hi all Sorry we haven't been in touch for a while - we had a few minor internet mishaps. Never mind, we're here now to give you the latest on our progress. Thursday was our trip to the Grand Canyon which was an early start but well worth it. We went to the West rim which isn't so touristy and was pretty quiet. The GC is amazing - you can't quite grasp what looking over the edge of a sheer cliff face into a 3.3km abyss until you've done it. Photos don't quite do it justice. We also saw the hoover dam and some Joshua trees - lots of them. In the evening we went on to The Strip with some people we met in the hostel (mostly Brits) and did a bit of gambling! We ... read more

Well yes!! Two in one day!!! Ok firstly its because I wanted to discuss politics and secondly there's a blizzard outside don't you know!! It started snowing at 12pm and it hasn't stopped!! Its almost 10pm!! Eck!!! In saying that I did manage to get two things done!! The American Museum Of Natural History...but not before I got myself lost again!! Well actually I got on the wrong train!! I was supposed to get on the B to 81st Street..but I waited and waited and no B came...so I got on the D thinking it would go past my stop...and it did go past my stop, right past my stop until I got to 125th Street!!!! Now many Americans have told me that its very unsafe for a white person to go past 100th Street and ... read more

I spent this morning packing while Katherine went back to the Children’s Museum. (This time she went with Grandpa and Grandma Martin.) I’ve been having a lot of fun contemplating the myriad of ways that I could change terminals on Wednesday. Option 1: Put the baby in an umbrella stroller, carry the diaper bag over my shoulder, pull a carry-on with wheels behind me, and loosen the straps on the airline-approved car seat so loose that I can fit my big arms through and wear it as a backpack. Option 2: Attach the car seat and the diaper bag to the wheeled carry-on (somehow), tie Katherine to the carry-on courtesy of a really sweet baby leash, and drag everything behind me. Option 3: Push Katherine in the stroller and train her to push the wheeled carry-on ... read more

well we have just crossed over into Canada with 6hrs to spare in the year they'd given me to arrive and activate my work visa, and after a fantastic four days of beautiful views and more friendly Americans we can finally sleep in and do nothing for a few days while we come up with a bit of a plan for what we'ew gonna do for the next few months. Highway 101 was absolutely gorgeous with massive big Redwood Forrests and big Pacific waves pounding the coastline all the way up until we cut inland to swing by Sprinfield on our way up to Portland. We visited Mike(m friend from Ushuaia)in Santa Rosa, stayed the night at Jaysons house in Arcata, got pulled over by the Oregon Highway patrol 15mins after crossing into Oregon, Had agreat ... read more

Katherine and I went to the Children’s Museum again today. We took Grandma Bea with us, which was great fun. When we entered the building, Katherine immediately headed over to the big black slide. After going up and sliding down a couple of times, we made our way to the good health exhibit where Katherine crawled in and out of the giant heart. Katherine had fun playing musical instruments in the theatre section. I had to have more woodblock, and boy Katherine gave it to me! Then we moved on to the art area. The play dough station was a little disappointing, because there was only color dough and it was a little to dry to mold. Katherine had a great time brushing giant teeth at the dental exhibit, and then we went to the grocery ... read more

“If I wait for perfect conditions I'll never begin Plan for what is difficult while it is easy, do what is great while it is small.” Sun Tzu January 21, 2005, Friday. Before leaving the Everglades, we stopped at the Anhinga Trail, a photo heaven. It was bursting with birds and ‘gators, as well as bird watchers and photographers. Our next stop is the Keys, and John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. We hoped to stay here, but it seems people make reservations a year in advance. So we took a trip into the mangroves by kayak and found a campground down the road a bit. We did some biking before dinner, laundry and bed! Well our campground, Calusa, was the campground from Hell. The noise level was awful until well after 1AM. Little did ... read more
