Blogger: Katie Location: Paris, Texas. Howdy everyone! Well, we're in Texas as DJ told you. We just pulled off at a rest stop about 15 miles ago or so to switch out. I could only bang out about 100miles. Thankfully we're almost there. It is weird though to think that we are almost at our destination. It's been a really neat experience to drive across the country out here to Texas. It's too bad that DJ wasn't feeling well. But thank you all for your comments and well wishes. I'm sure that we will continue to update for the next couple of days as DJ gets settled in. Also weird. According to the map at the rest stop of Texas, there are different major regions of Texas, I believe it was 5, and they are all ... read more

im not really sure what i am going to write but i guess il start at the beginning.... i left adelaide for sydney 13/6/07 at 640am then when i got to sydney i had to go through customs and all that crap and i had to wait around afterwards for like an hour maybe for my flight. i met 2 people who were also going to ny for camps aswell. i found out afterwards that the flight to ny wasnt direct and we had to go to los angeles first. so the whole plane trip i slept for no more than 2 hours which sucked because by then i had been awake for like 40 hours! so at lax we had to go through customs and imigration again, then we had to wait for like another ... read more

Thursday June 14th the Cozy Turtle hit the road bound for Alaska. We left at 7:15 am. The second time we left at 7:45 am. We hadn’t gone far before we found we had forgotten our favorite CD’s! So back we went to retrieve our music. When we left home it was cool and cloudy with off and on rain.(sort of like Alaska, I think). Our route took us west. The rolling hills of the Virginia piedmont turned into the foothills of the Shenandoah Mountains. We drove on through the Shenandoah Valley toward the Appalachian mountains of West Virginia. I noticed the landscape passing our window was basically in two tones - greens and grays. A steel gray sky; a light gray highway; mountains that were dark gray shrouded in an almost white mist; gray barns ... read more

Day 3 -Departed 6AM CST Kickapoo is a very popular name through Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Corn is also very popular. Corny jokes in Illinois Benj’s truck still likes to run in 2nd. Mike and Mandie have whiplash. After listening to the same XM station (we really like it), and hearing the same commercials over and over again, you tend to hear them a little differently… Betty White will forever be known as the crazy old lady from Lake Placid, not the Pet Meds Plus spokesperson. There's this guy who makes a crap load of money every night before he goes to bed. By our calculations, he's gone to bed 35 times in the past 3 days. Dubuque is a really nice town. It reminded us of Wheeling…except it’s all bunched together and actually looks ... read more

Our trip started very close to disasterous. The flight from Pensacola to Houston left 2 hours late due to bad weather in Houston where the flight originated. We deplaned in Houston at 6:45pm and had to get a shuttle to Terminal B, then tram to Terminal D/E and catch our flight to Guatemala City by 7:10pm! We made it, out of breath at 7:05! Breathing a sigh of relief, we boarded the plane and proceeded to taxi in line for over 2 hours! ... read more

Where I am depends on when I can connect to a computer but as I type I am flying over the Pacific Ocean on towards Fiji where the clouds look like cities. This ocean is vast and wide which makes it hard to discern sky from sea. It is still hard to believe that I am going to Fiji and that I JUST left Hawaii. I am so far from home--insane. This is a revolution of the mind. Roxanne, you don't have to put the red light, those days are over, you don't have to sell your body into the night. While this song goes on in my head, I am trying to recall the wild times that was in Hawaii. Hawaii is not a place for the weak minded and the superwhite. Locals hate ... read more

Well, I thought I wouldn't have to write to you until I got to London, but I forgot an important part - where I have to sit here and make small talk with the hott girl (2 seats down) for 2 hours and 10 minutes until our flight takes off to london. I really would take her to go eat at one of the restaurants, but you know, I have to save money. We all know Christine is going to want something. Haha, I'm just kidding. I mean, I have to buy her something. Come on now, how many times are you in Rome? I'd rather buy her something than go impress this person with money that I don't have. Well, it's getting to an awkward silence, and it looks like she's about to leave ... read more

Kyle's dad picked us up on Saturday morning (in the Stang!) and we drove down the coast to several places. First, we hit up Huntington Beach, home of the Surfer Walk of Fame. They have a bunch of surfer names in the sidewalk, and the whole place is full of surfer stores and there were, of course, lots of surfers! There was a festival going on (Beachfest) which by the name seemed great, but it turned out to be an uber conservative christian thing, but they had great bands there! We ate at a microbrewery, and even though they asked for my ID, they still served me! Not having braces makes a difference I guess. Then we kept on going down to Newport Beach, very $$$! After that was the famous Laguna Beach. We parked and ... read more
