The Royce Adventure Father's Day in Memphis. The kids say that Dad is king today; not Elvis. We've driven the approximate 400 miles across Tennessee but it took us a day longer than planned. Some RV troubles -- a generator acting up and then a blown tire (one of eight on this thing) -- brought us to Mark's new favorite store -- Camping World outside of Knoxville and then a truck repair shop in Nashville. We were a little depressed last night, but a couple of drinks and a plan to get to Memphis and just hang out for the night instead of driving more made today pretty good. That, and staying at a campground near Bucher Hollar. The kids were great. Going to Graceland late on a Sunday was perfect with no crowds at all. ... read more

Hey, so sorry it's been so long since we've updated anything. We've hit some bumps in the road since we last wrote, but things have been pretty great since we got to New Orleans. When we first got here and didn't know where we were gonna stay we went to the library, paid $3 to use the computer...stewy wrote paragraph after paragraph and then when he went to publish the server crashed. So we got to Austin just before my birthday, and it was a really great time. After we left we kept asking ourselves why we even did so. Stewy's friend Ben put us up in his guest trailer in possibly the coolest house I've ever seen. I guess it was an artist who got a grant to buy two lots and make all these ... read more

Happy Father's Day! North America » United States » Colorado » Denver By GlamazonJune 17th 2007Paris Bound Greetings! So, I took a trip down to Palmer Lake to visit my dad yesterday. Once I got off I-25 onto a nice, quiet back road, it was bliss. It was great to see all the colts romping around so of course I couldn't resist pulling over for a quick visit:) We had a bite to eat at a groovy little restaurant in town (The B&E). A bunch of his paintings are on display there; he's quite the local celebrity! After lunch we took a stroll around the lake then h... read more

Friday, June 15, 2007 - Biloxi, Mississippi/New Orleans, Louisiana I touched down in Gulfport/Biloxi, Mississippi regional airport to start my New Orleans weekend getaway at 7:34pm. This was not my first time arriving in the State of Mississippi, but the stereotype of how the ‘poorest’ state in the Union would offer you was inevitably lingering on my mind. Of course the stereotype is not always what you find; Biloxi, Mississippi, for example, is glowing with wealth, as it is the gambling ‘Vegas’ capital in the Southeast United States. Biloxi is located within forty minutes of driving from City of New Orleans, and shared the same destruction fate during Hurricane Katrina in September 2005. After having a quick glance of the city, we continued on along I-10 West, and it is worth of mentioning that we ... read more

Well Vegas has hands down been my favourite place so far... Words cannot even explain just how crazy this city is... imagine the most extravagant, over the top place in the world, then multiply it by a billlion and you might just get close to what Vegas is like. From the minute I got off the plane, the craziness began - with the pokie machines in the boarding gates at the aiport! Yep thats right, you step off the plane and right there in front of you is an array of machines to tempt you. I cracked up laughing when I saw them, and got the camera out immediately, cos I just knew I had to share this craziness!! The first thing that hits you is the heat - it is just SOOO hot there. ... read more

After a fond farewell to South America, we arrived in the USA to begin the next chapter of our travels. We flew via Miami (where we had to question whether we had really left Latin America) to Chicago. Our initial impressions of the country are (1) stores are huge and getting bigger. We visited a couple of Walmart and Target stores that were the size of towns in Scotland or Australia. (2) the people are huge and getting bigger.... monstrous portions of junk food are taking their toll. After getting over the moral dilemma we faced from having just left poverty stricken countries where people beg on the streets for food, I decided to get stuck in too.....! My waist line is heading North once again...... We spent a couple of days with the Murphys catching ... read more
