Today is the day I cross the border into Canada to attend Siggraph. I spent most of it preparing for the experience. I’m rather afraid of the border patrol. They have the right to search everything brought over the border, including all electronics. The internet is filled with horror stories of people losing valuable equipment for months just become an officer thought there was something suspicious on it. I figure crossing the border almost four thousand miles from my home will be reason enough for extra scrutiny. I ultimately went through my entire car, pulling out everything I could find. A traveler accumulates a surprising amount of junk on a long trip! ... read more

Hi All, I traveled Westward and Northward to chill out with Cori and rock climb and camp out in her Scamp. For those of you unlucky enough not to know... that is the world's coolest fiberglass camper van. I met her in Bellingham, and we went up to Squamish, BC, to camp and climb. There is so much more to the adventure than I took pictures for, but I find that sometimes when you take pictures, you are trading the moment for the picture. Some of my sharpest memories - still - are those I don't have pictures of. Anyways, I loved Bellingham, and British Columbia. Bellingham is like going back in time 20-30 years and experiencing big town appeal. It was such a nice vacation. You know those vacations when you feel like you need ... read more

Saturday, January 2, 2009, Sunday, January 3, 2009, and Monday, January 4, 2009 I spent Saturday with my cousin Don and his daughter Barbora. We went for a long walk in the rainy Washington weather and walked for hours. As a part of the walk, we stopped by and helped Lotte to arrange furniture in her office. We ended the night with a game of Scrabble which I had the good fortune to win. Sunday was a nicer day and even the sun came out at times. In the first part of the day we did some yard work: planted a tree, cleared some shrubs, and made a trip to the junk yard. Afterwards we did another brisk walk through the park and around town. After delicious salmon dinner prepared by Lotte, Donatas and I played ... read more

Merry Christmas to all our Friends and Family! I think there's a little bit of Jesus, or something Holy, in every baby; which must be what inspired Natalie to have us dress up as a nativity scene for Halloween. Hope everyone is having a joyful day. Love, Tim, Natalie and Owen!... read more

I am home in Bellingham. The trip was amazing and although shorter than planned, I got to all the places I set out to. Thank you all for taking an interest in my journey and for all your comments and messages as they kept me company in the land of Aus! I am planning to go to the U.K. as soon as I can afford to. The only thing I would like to add is a call to Sarah Lamont who is a friend I met in Australia and who is trying to contact me. To Sarah: I have received all of your messages and have sent tons of my own with no response. I think that for some reason you are not getting my e-mails or my "facebook" messages but I have sent one every ... read more

I think Fireworks are a good symbol for this summer. We’ve been busy to say the least. Just before our big move we enjoyed a good vista of the fireworks over the bay. On the 10th of July we closed on our house. When, in May, Natalie insisted that we would be purchasing a house by July I would have told you she was nuts. July was the deadline so that she wouldn’t be moving in the heat during her ninth month of pregnancy. We met our deadline just before the summer heat wave hit. Our first weeks at the house were sweltering. For the big move we had a moving party and 10 or so of our friends showed up and got us moved in less than four hours. Fireworks indeed! We then fired up ... read more
