Hello - I have decided to create this travelblog to keep everyone updated on my progress in New Zealand. I leave tomorrow (1/14) for three weeks to New Zealand. At first, three weeks seemed like more than enough time. Now I'm not so sure. I am renting a campervan which will give me the freedom to travel around the country with the most flexibility. I will post updates (and hopefully some pictures) as I am able. Here's a brief idea of where I might end up: 14 Jan 2007 - 16 Jan 2007 - Too much time in the air! 16 Jan 2007 - Arrive in Auckland, head north to view sights of northern island (Bay of Islands, Cape Reinga) 17 Jan 2007 - Waitomo caves (they have caves lit by glowworms), Lake Taupo Take ferry ... read more

Hey everyone Welcome to my travelblog spot. I'm making this site because I'm going to be traveling to Buenos Aires, Argentina on January 3rd and this is a great place to keep in touch with everyone along the way. It's going to be a great trip and I'm excited about meeting new people and keeping in touch with YOU, all of my old friends. I'll put pictures and write some words about my experiences and everything I can think of on here. Everyone is very much an important part of this trip to me because my experiences would mean nothing if I didn't have anyone to share them with. So enjoy and keep in touch Tommy ... read more

This is the first blog I have been allowed to do since the start of the trip, because of my terrible spelling and grammar. So be warned this blog will have many mistakes. I didn't really want to leave Charleston but Ian was deperate to get to Augusta and see the Masters golf course. I think the Masters golf course is all that Augusta has to offer because while Ian and Gell were trying to sneak into the gold course, I went looking for the "historic district" of town but just ended up walking through the bad areas of town with a big map and guys yelling out of trucks asking if I was lost. Ian and Gell didn't have any luck trying to get into the golf course, they made it slightly past the gate ... read more

Driving a car through some of the most beautiful parts of the US. What can I describe it as that would make the world of foreigners understand? Trekking. You're working to get somewhere for the day and that place is your goal. In the meantime you're not really doing much work, unlike trekking you let the car do your body's work and the rest of it is just making sure the car stays between two nice lines and the people around you don't go too crazy. The scenery around you stays consistently beautiful and you wonder who lives in these tiny houses in the middle of nowhere. Christmas goes on in these houses and occasionally you pass a house completely decorated with plastic toys of Santa and the reindeers or nativity scenes of Merry and Joseph ... read more

Al & Sam in Richmond, Virginia For those of you who are not aware, Jona is visiting his Uncle 'Up State' and we'll be reuniting tomorrow on a 11 hour coach trip down to South Carolina :-/ Big country. Onto our second week in the States and we're currently on the sofa watching the 'Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade'. Having bought the Turkey yesterday and Alec and I (Sam) are loosening our belts in preparation for some hearty nosh. To be honest though, our belts have been loosened all week as our hosts have been spoiling us rotten! From Burgers to Ribs, Shrimp to Cookie Dough, Southern Fried Chickin' (finger lickin' good...) to Pancakes and Waffles, let’s just say we're ready for the winter. And don't forget the Turkey. Sam and I (Alec) have been very ... read more

It is now Wednesday November 15th We are still dogging bad weather, pushing our way down the east coast before crossing Gulf Stream, On Monday we dropped our dock lines and set sail offshore for Norfolk VA, arriving here yesterday afternoon. Our over night sail went off without a hitch, sailing here in less than 26 hours. In the night the wind picked up for a short period to the 30 + knots range with some confused seas, but later all died down and we sailing calmly into the Chesapeake Bay. We finally have a great weather window coming to us in the next few days and we will be gladly setting sail then. Our plan is to set sail directly to the West Indies not stopping in Bermuda, unless we need to. My thought is ... read more

Monument Games was a glorious occasion. It actually happened! Well, for one day. The girl’s team got screwed over on fields the day before The whole event, so that part was up to par. Some of our games were on the IM fields, some on the soccer fields and some on the lacrosse field. Actually, since it was out tournament, Kristen, Kara, Sarah and Allie were smart enough to plan the first day so that the RedHotz had all IM games. mhuahaha. I went to practice on Friday with the team and played the entire time. Ran my ass off. I forgot, once again, how different sailing in shape is to Frisbee in shape. I was so sore the net day, body and new-cleated blisters wise, which I didn't go in for any points on ... read more

What a beautiful drive it is from DC to C-Ville. Abby was right with the rolling hills and cows. The foilage is at its peak here too which is very nice. The mountains in the background and long stretches of road were also very therepeutic. So downtown Charlottsville...the historic part is very nice. From the history of the agrarian presidents, madison, monroe and jefferson...founding fathers....to the cafes, stores, restuarants....i went to the mud house for a mocha, christian's pizza for slices, baggby's for a sandwich, and now this tea place up above with a terrace and live acoustic music. Loving it. I noticed a few gun stores along the drive and that always seems to be the case when you head south. I wonder why? I'm looking forward to seeing abby who is making moves at ... read more

Friends, Relatives and Co-Workers...Thank You We just returned from a night out with our dear friends Don and Lindsay Mears. We went to BW3s for dinner (to continue our all American food binge) and then went to Starbucks to have drinks and play games for most of the evening. As the evening drew to a close we returned to Don and Lindsay's house to take some photos with them so that we could have pictures to show people while we travel and something to make us feel better when we get home sick. Don gave us a usb jump drive with a bunch of pictures on it so that we can have the pictures with us wherever we go. The idea was completely Don's and while we haven't looked at the pictures yet due to ... read more
