Yes, I know I say it wrong. Monument Games was a glorious occasion. It actually happened! Well,
for one day. The girl’s team got screwed over on fields the day before
The whole event, so that part was up to par. Some of our games were
on the IM fields, some on the soccer fields and some on the lacrosse
field. Actually, since it was out tournament, Kristen, Kara, Sarah and
Allie were smart enough to plan the first day so that the RedHotz had
all IM games. mhuahaha. I went to practice on Friday with the team
and played the entire time. Ran my ass off. I forgot, once again,
how different sailing in shape is to Frisbee in shape. I was so sore
the net day, body and new-cleated blisters wise, which I didn't go in
for any points on Saturday, but that was ok. I got to watch our young
team in action. Some random freshman was wearing our Jersey, so I
made it a point to fill her in on the legacy and that she'll have to
give it up next year, but I think 23 is just one of the leftovers and
whoever is a medium and standing right there grabs it. A sacrifice I
knew I was taking so that you could wear 23.
For the girls, Ruthie, Higgins, Magoo, Dana, Anna Frost, Nat, Hil,
Jenna and I made an appearance. Higgins, Magoo, Jenna and I being the
biggest of that ratio. For the guys it was Bill, Baccary, Farva, and Kyle
Alexander, Turano, Gibson, Lucas, Heins, Tusee, Buck, Timmy (obvi),
Dicks, Shorb, Zaminski, and some other older ones that I never knew.
They had a MUCH better turn out and had a team with shirts made up and
everything. Us girls have GOT to work on that. The Friday night
party was good times, but not everyone was there. The guy's apartment
where all the parties were was 210.. something 2104, I think. Rob,
Brad, Blue and Dane. Or something like that.
In drama news, Dane and Frankie went to pick Kyle up and prepared a
pee-in beer funnel for when Kyle got in the car and made him funnel it
(wo/ him knowing about the pee part). When Kyle found out he got
really pissed and peed on Dane's bed. :-/. A fair trade? maybe.
on Saturday night, about 10 Mary Wash guys came to the party. To get
in they had to do a landshark through the apartment. They did. They
were probably fighting to see who GOT to do it, not who HAD to do it.
MY HUSBAND WAS THERE!!!!! I was walking outside to see if he was
there because we had been in Facebook and cell phone contact leading
up to Monument Games and all the sudden I was jumped on from behind
me. HA. It was such a happy reunion. Hard on a marriage to be
separated for so long and to only be able to each other once a year,
but it's worth it. We hung out for a good length of time and got made
fun of by Slamdrew and Nick for being the most well behaved couple at
the party. The freshman boys are ok, but they bring all these girls
who dress up and make out with everyone. Not classy. The freshman
are great, really great. They are all very RedHotz-like. There's a
wah-Claire and a wah-Jac. One of them, apparently did a bang up job
of dressing up as Sarah Abboud for the Halloween Game. Allie was me,
I was so honored.
Anyway, back to MG (Monument Games). After signing up for pong on a
chalk board with a pair of girl's "panties" hanging on a nail next to
it for an eraser, I got on the table three times. Once with Adam, a
freshman, very nice. Second with Schuttie who is always a blast to
play with. Third time was with Turano against Dicks and Bill. We
were one away from consolidating that time, so we had to do a naked
run. I kept my underwear on, but went topless. Kind of weird, we
walked it and half way through, Turano was like "Wanna hold hands?" I
was like "I guess so". So we walked around naked holding hands.
Everyone said there was definitely an Adam and Eve thing goin' on
there. Interesting. Brad has two snakes now. I can’t recall there
names right now, but Slippery Lee and I were big fans, sporting them
around on our necks a lot. The bigger one liked to squeeze you around
the neck and the smaller one liked to stick his tail end waaaay down
shirts, so it was a trade off on which one was more interesting to
carry around.
Later on, as the night dwindled down, people left. Brad and Rob have
a foosball table in their room, so people were up there or downstairs
watching Slamdrew and Nick play video games. I went down and saw my
husband, Dania, on the sofa passed out and shivering. So I went to my
car and got a blanket that I keep in there to put over him. After
doing that, Kyle and I got to talking and decided to go to Sheetz. At
this point was about 2 in the morning and raining, but nothing could
get in our way. We were on a mission. After Tuna wraps and....
whatever Kyle got, we ran into a bunch of the other guy's team's alums
and stole Dicks for the car ride home, which didn't end up occurring
until about 4:15. Kyle's engaged and she’s not pregnant, like the
rumors said. They're out in California. Kyle’s training to be a
chiropractor, she's at Grad school. They're happy. Lalala. Dicks is
coaching a high school basketball team... somewhere.
Sunday got rained out. It was 75 and sunny on Saturday; 45 and rainy
on Sunday. Higgins, Liz, Allie and I sat around all morning and most
of the afternoon watching Mighty Ducks, Laws of Attraction and the
Food Network. It was glorious. I hit the road around 4:00 to get up
home for the night, then I was on the road again in the early morning
with my mom, dad and sister for NYC. A meeting with the president of
the Retts Syndrome Research Foundation and my Aunt Barbara's Book
release at Columbia University. Seminars, lunches and dinners, the
whole nine-yards.
