Today I am in Denver, Colorado arriving at 11am this morning after a grueling 29 hour drive from New Orleans. Of course 20 hours were consumed driving along the endless highways of Texas. This was after a relaxing final night out on Frenchman Street in New Orleans where I had some fun cocktails from the bartender (one that tasted like sweet tarts was the best called the RSVP), listened to the fine folksy jazz of the French Quarter, ate some nice creole blackened redfish with Louisiana shrimps and shot the shit with some English blokes I met. I did not get much sleep that night or no the bus. Tomorrow I will head up the mountains north of Denver with my friend Tate. It is stunningly beautiful up there as I understand it. Amateur Fight Night Dallas - Don’t Mess with Texas It was a close call whether the fighters in the ring or the spectators around the beer tents were the more hostile. I had only night in Dallas, but having spent the morning looking around art galleries and visiting the JFK museum (housed in the old school book depository building), I was feeling that this would be quite sufficient time in the city. I was therefore very happy to take up the suggestion of my host in Dallas (Jennifer) that we go to an amateur boxing contest to be held at the nearby country club. She explained to me that her friend, Kyle, was one of the boxers who would be fighting later in the evening. Since it was an amateur event, she also added that an ... read more

1723 Miles driven, halfway there... Texas! Van Horn, Pecos, Midland, Big Spring, Colorado City, Sweetwater, Abilene, Baird, Eastland, Mineral Wells, Weatherford, Ft. Worth, Dallas Sorry to all of you who are still actually reading this blog - we had a ton of fun with our friends Lauren and Jake last night and did not have time to blog until this morning. Yesterday's travels across Texas went by quite quickly. On Sunday, the landscape consisted of Saguara cactus, but yesterday, the landscape was peppered with the classic Texas oil rigs, all working hard and churning that oil for the good old American economy. As we drove, the landscape changed again to hundreds of wind turbines, again, all working hard to get that energy for the good old American economy. We haven't seen very many beautiful towns in ... read more

If the Grand canyon was Indian country then Dallas, Texas is cowboy country and home of JR, Sue Ellen and Pamela. It had been snowing pretty hard the previous couple of days to our arrival and it was touch and go whether our flight would make it . But make it ,it did, and Geoffrey Our friend of many years was there to meet us. His home is lovely and what made Lucy‘s day is that he has a Springer spaniel called jenny who is very delicious! We had to have a welcome drink as you do and it was almost compulsory to continue - Oh my god not sure I was going to survive the next couple of days! We had a great Mexican meal - it‘s so good when friends live in major cities ... read more

Hi! We've made it as far as Dallas! We 'enjoyed' the longest check-in ever leaving Vancouver as we scrambled (or as much as one scrambles when waiting over and hour in a line) trying to figure out how to not have 3 small carry-ons and still have the food we need for a full day. Thankfully, they took pity on us given that they weren't feeding us. We have a 3-hour layover in Dallas and are enjoying these complementary internet terminals: fantastic given that we hadn't yet gotten our final confirmation from Rahim of Ringo Guest house in Delhi who has offered to pick us up. Dallas is snowy, so we're looking forward to being in warmer climates. From here, it's a two-hour hop to Chicago, then the 15-hour marathon flight to Delhi. So far we're ... read more
