I don’t have much to say today. I woke up, a bit sicker than I went to sleep, and drug myself into the shower and then into the car. After passing out (which was after our final hotel breakfast), I was awake about 75% of the ride, amazingly enough. Our last hotel was good to us, but I don’t feel like I’m going to miss it- except maybe the people who come in every day to clean up and wash the towels- that I will miss. We listened to another book by Bill Bryson called “A Walk in the Woods” about his traveling through the Appalachian Mountains on the famous Appalachian Trail. While he was reading it, we drove through some of the amazing sites he described- the Blue Mountains and fantastic valleys. We were in ... read more

Welcome to my Down Under blog! So many people asked me to e-mail them with details of what I was up to during my trip abroad that I thought I would just start a blog! Over the next few months, I'll post details of what I am doing in Melbourne and Christchurch, the people I am meeting, and pictures of the things I see! I'll also be posting lots of pictures on Facebook, so make sure you're friends with me there =) Now, the biggest challenge of my young life awaits... fitting four months of clothes into a suitcase!... read more

Okay, so the last few days have been filled with little else than getting up and impulsively travelling around the state and sleeping on various people's couches. A couple of days ago we went and visited the summer camp that Loz used to work at. The puddles there were frozen. It is up in the mountains, but we have experienced a bit of a cold snap! After that we went skiing at a mountain near the city of Asheville. Skiing is just like riding a bike, right? Right? WRONG So in our small posse we had Jif (snowboarding legend with sprained ankle), myself (ski pro), Piggy (it's been a while), Jive (see Piggy) and Pocket Jive and Loz (never skiid before) So Piggy and I did our best to teach them, but I soon discovered that ... read more

We arrived in Charolotte Tuesday night. Yesterday we were able to spend time with Jason, Sara and Maggie. She is doing fine. If we didn't know better you would never know there is a problem. The week is over. I am sitting in Charlotte airport awaiting my flight back to Knoxville. Yesterday might have been the longest day I can remember. Mainly, because I can never remember putting in an 18 hour work day! Our load out lasted a bit longer than anyone expected, 6 1/2 hours! It usually takes 2! Chris the Stage Manager, reassured me that load out's were usually not that bad, but it was still hard! All in all, the job is alright. It's a lot of long hours and hard work, and I am pretty much a glorified pack gorilla. I move stuff around. But that's alright I suppose. The crew and some of the cast are amazing. They make sure to have fun. The lifestyle can kick your butt if your not careful. YOu have ... read more

Living here in Charlotte, NC there isn't much to do. So I decided to do something about it. 8 months ago I got this crazy idea of living in a different country for a year where I don't know the people, culture, language, or anything. So I perused the idea, went to all kinds of interviews and meetings and orientations. Now here I am. 12 hours away from departure. Something I thought would be very easy, well as it turned out it has been one of the hardest things I have ever done. I am doing this on my senior year so when I return all my friends will be in college. Which means some of the people I am saying "goodbye" to is really goodbye. I have met some of the most amazing people in ... read more

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have in enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity....It turns problems into gifts, failures into successes, the unexpected into perfect timing and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates vision for tomorrow. .........Melodie Beattie The events of the last 6 weeks blindsided me and has unravelled in ways I would never imagine. It all started with the words "I am kinda having a commitment issue" and ended up with me getting on a flight to Mumbai with a backpack, a computer, some of Tyler's ashes and a broken heart. Life is strange. As most you don't and few of you do, I left August 21st on an extended three month ... read more

Less than a month before I start my big adventure overseas. Or to be more specific: 22 days 9 hours 41 minutes. It's exhilarating and terrifying... (lets see just how many study abroad cliches I can use) Today I got the information about where I'm going to be living. It's Warrender Park Crescent. The link below has all the details, and a picture, the outside looks lovely- nothing like Tufts! I'm sharing a flat with four other people and we all have single rooms, and a kitchen and common area. I had to do the housing contract online, and it pretty much says that the landlord is GOD and I can't decorate, including none of that blue sticky stuff- I'm going to have to get very creative. We don't move in until the 13th at least, ... read more

I hate florida. i hate florida. i dont really know what else to tell you. its hot, sticky, humid, and infested with bugs. Its disgusting. Florida was probably the worst selling days for everyone on the tour. The fact that people plain out SUCK in Florida, and the fact that its hot and disgusting makes up for that no one sold much. so yea. florida sucks. though i did take an amazing shower in the rain. i really didn't mean to, but the fact that we didn't have enough time to get all the shit into the trailer before it started to rain, means i had a great shower. I just took a shower though. but it seems the rest of the bus went out and had a group shower, and then some streaking. Thats probably ... read more
