Trip Update #2 - "Travels With Pooter & Petunia Tour - 2008" Hey y'all - So I’ve now typed a couple of individual updates to some folks, and I’ve edited them together into this one. To those of you I emailed directly, forgive my being redundantly redundant ... I’ve been tracking the lousy media reports on Wachovia - I told a former work associate that it’s sad to see that the “I” in “Integrity” (one of the company’s core values) has, if not been lost, been reduced to lower case. See, I leave and the place falls apart … wink. All I know is that I’m glad I’m not there to have to deal with the onslaught of customer complaints and try to apologize and make right what’s so wrong. Sad indeed. All’s well with me ... read more

Hi y'all, Well not a very big report tonight! My master and I just "hung around" this morning, while the ladies went to visit and have coffee with Barb Blackburn who had worked at Nasuli when Sharon was the librarian there. Then after lunch we went to visit Joe and Marilyn Waddington, who Sharon had worked with in Manila. Then my masters and the host and hostess went out for supper at Pier 51, a seafood restaurant. While being inexpensive, they served a very good dinner to all of us. As per usual, I remained at the Beltz home keeping Daryl's parents, Roger and Jannete, company. Then they came home and my masters received a hair trim from Leshia, our hostess. Then it was bedtime and so here we are. Tomorrow, we head up to Lancaster ... read more

Happy Easter everyone! Today the folks went to church at Second Baptist Church, in Lancaster, S.C. Then they were invited out to the home of Mike and Kathy Smith. Wow, what a dinner! Steak, baked potatoes, salad and key lime pie, with some chocolate cherry cake thrown in! I had to stay home but it looks like by the pictures that a little black dog tried to make friends with Eric and as you can see, pictures don't lie! Should I be jealous? Then it was home for a relaxing afternoon and evening. Not sure of all of the plans for tomorrow so will have to take it as it comes. Hope you folks back home are starting to see the end of the snow and cold weather! I certainly don't mind the snow but I ... read more
Second Baptist Church - Lancaster, ·SC - not sure what happened to First Baptist!!
Hey where did that little imp come from? And right up on my master's lap!!! I am going to have to have a chat with my master?!! Right?

Hi everyone: Well we arrived in Waxhaw, NC this afternoon. And our hosts and hostess, Daryl & Leshia had planned a get-together with 18 of Sharon's former colleagues from Wycliffe Bible Translators. JAARS is the technical operation centre for those involved in the areas of communications (i.e. computers, etc.), maintenance and aviation programs. It operates training for those heading to overseas assignments for the first time and also recurrancy training for members heading back to their overseas assignments. This is also home to some historical museums for the organization, too. It was great for Sharon to see some of her friends from the years she spent in the Philippines and for Eric to meet for the first time and to enjoy the evening with them. It was rather an uneventful day other than that! We have ... read more
First shot of yours truly!
Cheerful face along the way!

March-something, 2008 (Oh my, I’ve lost track of the days …) Hello all y’all (that’s plural for y’all) - You may have been wondering what-the-heck has happened to the 2 P’s and me as we’ve been mostly incommunicado internetically-speaking since we began our journey on February 23rd of “this great year of electing an intelligent President for a change”. I know it will come as a shock to most of you that I over-filled the trip project plan with new technologies (went thru 3 phones before being satisfied, got a Dell Vista laptop - DO NOT UPGRADE TO VISTA), new means of transportation (Dodge Dakota Crew Cab 4x4 V-8) and a new portable domicile (T@b T@da trailer). In other words, I overdid it … Now let’s not be too finger-pointy here as it was all for ... read more

After an uneventful flight from Syracuse to Boston, we had just enough time in Boston to have a nice little breakfast and get ready to board our next plane to Charlotte, NC. Since we had gotten these flights the day before we left, Jason and I didn't get to sit together from either Boston to Charlotte nor Charlotte to Denver. This flight we were both in the same row, but in the middle seats on the opposite sides of the plane. Jason sat in between some old people and later complained that they were not good people to sit with and that he was sore from the uncomfortableness he experienced. I, on the other hand, had blown up the neck pillow in my hoodie and fallen asleep for most of the flight. Once we arrived in ... read more

I hate one night stands. They’re exhausting. And, since my least favorite part of the day is focus (which takes forever and is boring for me), I’m always bummed to get only one show out of all that work. In the next city, I get 2 shows from a focus, and after that, it should be like 4-6, which will be nice. Settled in one hotel for a bit. Maybe I’ll even wash my clothes! Plus that will be nice because there won’t be early ins every morning, just shows. Today, we played some church-turned-theater in Charlotte, NC, that was itty-bitty. The number one line of the day: Somebody put the theater in the dryer. The proscenium was 24’ wide. Generally, our show is 36’. Wow. Nothing could fly, as it was a hemp line. A ... read more

D+14 It stormed all night. So much so that I heard the thunder while I was sleeping. Kyle and I hit the road bright and early, before everyone else, in the truck to get a head start. The rain was fairly ridiculous. Before we left, Anne asked, “So have you seen the movie Twister? That’s what to keep an eye out for.” A small dance party broke out when we left Kentucky and entered Tennessee. Back through Nashville. There’s a sign in Nashville to Briley Parkway, and we’ve seen it like a zillion times now. Seems every drive takes us back through Music City. The girls caught up to us a few hours later, and we met for lunch. Truck drivers changed, so now Rachel is driving and I am back in the van- in the ... read more

Hello all! Well, I'm officially unemployed as of Feb 1 after nearly a nearly 15 year career with Wachovia. I was given a good package so rather than rush into another job, I've decided to take several months off, and take an extended trailering trip with my "kids" Pooter (the cat) and Petunia (the dog) and our new T@b T@da travel trailer. Like anyone who's worked in the corporate world knows, the stress is relentless and taxing, so I'm treating myself to rest, fun, laughter, travel, new sights and locations, and deadline-free days and nights. Yee-haw I am excited! We'll leave Charlotte on Feb 15th and head first to Atlanta to visit long-time great friends for several days, then set off west along the Gulf Coast. Our 2nd destination will be Austin TX and my sister ... read more

So I feel the need to finally give in and create a blog. But being the traveler I am, I felt it only proper to use a TravelBlog page. My wife Roxane and I have been traveling for some time now, and are in the process of planning a 6-8 week trip to Eastern Europe in the winter. Never traveled in the winter, so I am very curious and excited. After we return from our trip, we will be making a cross-country move to Pacific Beach, San Diego, CA.. Our life is very crazy, and exciting right now, and so many big things are getting ready to happen. I feel this may be the happiest time of my life. And I truly feel that Roxy and I are in the process of making a magnificent change ... read more
