Good Morning, It's 7:30 a.m. in Whitchurch, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, UK, and I see a patch of blue in the sky - that is not something that has been prevalent at all during our trip. My gosh, it has rained - muich more than normal. Actually, we've been told that it is the wettest June on record. We certainly know how to pick a week in England! Added to the wet are the low temperatures. Yesterday, I don't think we reached 60. Doubt if we'll be using our swimsuits anytime soon. So glad I have all these sleeveless tops and lightweight t-shirts. Thankfully, I packed one sweatshirt and have a light sweater. My raincoat is my constant companion. While we haven't been even close to a sweatshirt or t-shirt store (if you can imagine we've hardly been ... read more

We spent four days in Disney World, one day for each park. Though we didn't go to any of the water parks or pleasure island at night, we had a blast. It was Paul's first time, so while it wasn't as "magical" as if he had been a little kid, he was pretty happy about the whole experience. And Danielle...well...she loves Disney :). The first day we went to the Magic Kingdom, where we rode almost all of the rides and Danielle got to meet her favorite character, Stitch. When Paul told him that Danielle loved him more that she loved Paul, stitch gave her two kisses on the cheek. That was pretty much the highlight of the trip for her. Later, on the last day, Paul got to meet Mater from Cars, and that ... read more

It's 8 p.m. London time on Saturday night and once again Lee and I are NOT ready to party hardy, but rather will be looking for a quiet pub and a good meal. We have had another full day with the morning and early afternoon spent at the Globe Theatre and Exhibition (and in over an hour's traffic jam at Trafalgar Square) and then another bus ride and cab ride to Elizabeth and Reade Griffith's home in Notting Hill Gate. We spent close to three hours with them catching up and sharing stories and then took the tube back to Victoria Station. We walked the several blocks "home" and now are regrouping. There are several places we didn't quite reach this time, but we will put them on our list for our next visit. Charles Chaney, ... read more

What a full day in London - and what a great day we had. We started with an early breakfast at our hotel, cleaned up and then walked to Buckingham Palace to get a good view of the changing of the guard. We joined several hundreds of our best friends who had already found the "perfect" spot, but one spot opened up for us - along the crowd control fence/gate at the first of three gates leading into the palace. Amidst a light intermittent drizzle, we people watched, listened to all kind of languages, talked to the police trying to keep the growing crowd either behind certain barriers or moving along, and waited for the parade. The marching band of the first wave of guards came playing some great music and then turned into the first ... read more

We're almost ready to go. Thankfully, I was able to pare down our "stuff" to two 25" suitcases, a garment bag, and a carry on for tickets, computer, travel binder, books, and munchies. I can't think of anything else we'll need, but I'm sure it will come to me once we're on our way to Newark and then to Gatwick. With our family's recent unfortunate history with Continental, our prayer is that we leave the USA tonight - close to schedule. I hope to be able to access this blog frequently enough to add descriptions of some of our activities and photos -we'd love to share this with you. ... read more

You know, I love Florida. Orlando, especially. Everytime I fly in, I feel like I'm going home. I look out the window of the plane and see the stiff grass and palm trees, and it's always comforting. I know that a few carefree days of shopping and comfort food are right ahead. And I was right. Once again, another beautiful visit. I spent a small fortune on clothes and a new Coach purse and scarf. I got to eat chicken and dumplings and shrimp bisque. I'm happy. I'd say I'm fat and happy, but I can't. I bought 5 sundresses, all two sizes smaller than I was. I haven't lost an ounce, but I can see muscle tone returning to my legs and abs. Working out really works! What a concept! It was also nice to ... read more

we finally made it back.. The flight from Shannon was fine though a little bumpy when we got closer to Philly. We ended up not sitting together. I WUV exit seats.... And I had an interesting view and sound of some drinking Irishmen. Both Rob and I had drama at the Philly airport though mine was less then his. We said goodbye with him going to terminal F and I went to terminal C. My flight was to take off at 3:50pm but it finally left at 5:15pm. All I know is that Rob was having the same trouble and when he got to his connection at Baltimore.... more drama. I think Amber talked with him around midnight as we were eating and Rob said he had landed in Cleveland but now on the search for ... read more

We are all officially on vacation now. MIdori and I have spent the last few days attempting to pack light and eating lots to bulk up before heading off. The eating lots is one of my favorite aspects of travel. We are all planning on taking 2500 cu inch packs which requires planning on exactly what is necessary and what we can do without.. necessary takes on different meanings to different people. I started to buy Ayn Rand's classic 900 page novel "Atlas Shrugged", but decided it was way to massive to haul all over the place. So we bought "Costa Rican Spanish" instead. I went dumpster diving at the mattress factory and found some perfect reinforced plastic that I cut into 6x8 chunks to use for tarps in case we have to pull up ... read more
