July 12, 2023 – On the Road Again It’s 6 am Kirsten has finished her shower and is dressed. I’m still rolling over in bed. Let’s go sleepy head, Mandy will be here in 1 ½ hour and I’m going on vacation with or without you. Ok, Ok, I’m up..... I’m in and out of the shower and dressed, Kirsten has me a cup of coffee sitting on the counter. We’re all packed, and our suitcases are sitting by the door. On our way home we had to stop off at our tried-and-true campground in Orlando, FL, Bill Fredrick. This is our go to camping spot since it is only $20/night right in Orlando. How do you plan a Disney trip or any trip? I usually start with deciding the dates because you can't book a flight or hotel room without a date. However, sometimes that is not the case. Sometimes you need to start with knowing what the expenses is going to be first. How much does plane tickets cost? The hotel. How much are you willing to spend for this trip. How much do you need to save per pay check to afford this trip. How long do you need to save so you will have enough money. Disney World offers such fabulous resorts. We've learned to always plan a "resort day" when we go to Disney World. This is a day where we get to recover a bit from all the walking (I hit over 28,000 steps yesterday!), and we can also enjoy our resort amenities. For Joanna, this meant we did a lot of swimming today! We're staying in the Little Mermaid rooms at Art of Animation, and this section has its own pool. It's smaller than The Big Blue Pool in the center of the resort. We've spent time swimming in the Little Mermaid pool already, so, this morning, after breakfast, we decided to check out The Big Blue Pool. In January 2020, just before the pandemic hit, my friends and I began planning a girls' weekend at Disney World for October. It was going to be us and our daughters. I was so excited for that trip, but then came COVID-19.... ...No one knew how long the pandemic would last. So, we kept our trip booked until the last day for almost-free cancelations. Disney allows people to cancel up to 30 days before a trip, and you get a full refund on your room or package. Unfortunately, we didn't purchase a package. We bought our tickets separately, and those were non-refundable. Disney extended the expiration date by nearly a year, and our tickets are set to expire in September 2021.
