The much awaited 3-day holiday had arrived! We left on the 18th of november (thursday) and it was off to Disneyworld, Orlando. The drive itself was only about an hour and a half seeing as we weren't going all the way into Orlando, and our hotel was only 5 minutes away from the theme parks. We arrived at Country Inns and Suites, got our room key (with only a few issues) and got settled in. We had tickets to a midnight screening of Harry Potter, and had about 8 hours to kill. 7:00AM on Wednesday the 3rd came fast. My literary: Universal Studios – Islands of Adventure at 9:00AM followed by Downtown Disney for some shopping. I would spend most of the afternoon through the late evening at Epcot and Disney World – Magic Kingdom. If you have never been to Universal’s Islands of Adventure it is fantastic! Once in the park I headed straight for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Opening in June, 2010 this was my main reason for visiting the park again. You enter through Hogsmeade Village which is home to recreations of all the shops where wizards buy their goods, as well as the Three Broomsticks Pub. Its Friday 17th September and we are recovered from our evening of Fantasmic. It's back to the Hollywood Studio's park to cover off what we missed yesterday. Seeing as it is already 11am the first order of the day is to see the Indiana Jones stunt show. Apparently it starred Harrison Ford's stunt double. Whoever it was, he did a great job. Of course they pulled people out of the audience to participate, and this is the time that we all made ourselves as small as possible. Didn't get picked thankfully and did watch a great show. We tried afterwards to make the car stunt show but unfortunately missed the start time. From there we walked the park doing some retail therapy and getting some lunch. Okay a little afternoon rest, a shower for Jnr and then she can open the package telling her what we are doing tonight. In the envelope are 3 tickets for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom park starting at 7pm and not finishing until midnight. Jnr is so excited, it's hard to get her to dress herself and dry her hair. Finally she will get to experience what it is really like to trick or treat (something she has been wanting to do for many years). Unfortunately she doesn't have anything to dress up in, but we might be able to do something about that when we get to the park (worst case, she can go as herself also known as an evil version of her father - LOL). 5.30pm and we leave ... read more

A quiet one today after our big day yesterday. We decide to spend the majority of the day at AKL recovering. Mrs does some photography of the animals and the decor and then late afternoon we made our way to the Animal Kingdom park and used our extra Magic Hours (when the parks are open to Disney Hotel guests only) to ride Expedition Everest without huge queues. Great Ride (LC's fav!), tis a pity that the Yeti no longer works but still a great ride. Mrs opts out of a second run and waits at the exit whilst LC and Jnr ride again (this time at the front of the car!) Some retail therapy and some T-shirts for home and then it's off to Kali River Rapids for a soaking. We're all dressed appropriately and so ... read more
