Okay a little afternoon rest, a shower for Jnr and then she can open the package telling her what we are doing tonight.
In the envelope are 3 tickets for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom park starting at 7pm and not finishing until midnight. Jnr is so excited, it's hard to get her to dress herself and dry her hair. Finally she will get to experience what it is really like to trick or treat (something she has been wanting to do for many years). Unfortunately she doesn't have anything to dress up in, but we might be able to do something about that when we get to the park (worst case, she can go as herself also known as an evil version of her father - LOL).
5.30pm and we leave AKL so we can make our 6.10pm dinner reservations at Tony's Town Square. We arrive on time and discover we have left our main tickets in our room (The party doesn't start until 7, so we might have a little problem here!) so I guess the first place we need to stop is Guest Services to see what we can do. Okay our party tickets
will get us in early, PHEW, thank goodness for that. It's into the park and Magic Kingdom has been transformed into a Haloween delight. At 6.05 we are seated at Tony's. We enjoy dinner (even though it is oversized as usual) and the table service is magically fantastic. (A cocktail for Mrs Chicken and mocktails for the rest of the flock) and then we take to the park for our Haloween experience. There are pumpkins and Disney Characters dressed in Haloween costumes everywhere. The number of people visiting the park is phenonemal and the numbers in costume was a bit of a revelation for us Aussies, everyone from newborn babies to grandparents. A parade down main street started our night where we watched all manner of Disney character, evil (starting with the Headless Horsemen from Sleepy Hollow) and good, parade down main street. LC managed to video most of it, (even after having been warned off twice for using a light) as it's a little difficult trying to photograph moving objects in the dark and get good shots. After the parade (LC thought the parade was very ordinary - over priced tickets as it was boring and contained fewer than
expected floats and dancers), which lasted about 15 minutes, we headed off to ride Space Mountain (strangely this ride has been omitted from the Disney park map for this years party!) and then we started the Trick or Treat trail (Alice & Mad Hatter's Treat Trail) and managed to cover both sides of it. We had to buy something to collect the candy in, so we opted for a life size orange plastic pumpkin with Mickey Ears and a rope handle (Of Course!). We quickly learned that once it filled up, the Disney Cast Members would limit the candy they gave you to 1 or 2 pieces, so we had to empty the candy into a plastic bag so that it looked like we didn't have very much :-), Oh and the statement that "We are from Australia and this is our first time ever trick or treating" helped significantly in our candy seeking cause as well, Oh and the fact that Jnr could act her way to Hollywood helped as well :-). It did take a while to make our way through the entire trail, and of course there were lots of others in the lines as well, but
eventually we thought we had collected enough (estimated to be close to 5kg's) and as it was quite an exhausting experience, we sat down at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe for some welcoming air con and a cold drink. On our way there we came across a Character Dance Party in Tomorrowland where Chip and Dale, Pluto and Donald were having a dance on stage (with many more little (and not so little hehehehehehe) ones having a dance in front of the stage!). Having rested for a bit, we took a walk around Fantasyland, Jnr did some of the little ones rides like Peter Pan's Flight and Snow White's Scary Adventures, we did some retail therapy and then before heading towards the exit we did The Haunted Mansion. Must say that it dressed itself up quite nicely for Haloween and was awesome by night. By this time it was getting on 11.30pm, we were all quite exhausted and we knew there would be a battle to get a bus back to AKL, but we managed to get squeezed onto one for the 15 min ride back. Jnr was just about asleep on her feet by the time we got back to
our lodgings and it had been a long but satisfying day for all. Boo-to-You!
