Breakfast at 8.30 (again with the masses). A quiet morning for me blogging. Sent LC and Junior to Magic Kingdom on their own and relaxed in the room. Heaven! Did some packing in anticipation of our next destination and some reflecting of what we have already done. Magic Kingdom and Typhoon Lagoon are great places for kids (old and young). Epcot a great place for those a little older and the Wilderness Lodge accomodations are both beautiful and peaceful. We hope to make it to the Magic Kingdom fireworks tonight, but before I sign off, let me share some photos of our beautiful accomodations at Wilderness Lodge.... read more

Saturday: Supposedly one of the busiest days of the week for the WDW Theme Parks, and a US long weekend to boot. We have cancelled all our plans so that we can fianlly do what we want, when we want, and now we actually have to think about what we want to do! Okay Junior has decided that if we won't let her go back to Typhoon Lagoon that she will reluctantly consider doing Disney Quest at Downtown Disney. It's supposed to be 5 floors of interactive theme park activities all located in air con comfort. So we have a lazy breakfast (with hoardes of people who appear to have arrived overnight from somwhere! maybe a slight exaggeration here, you don't get hoardes of people in Club Level, but there were certainly a lot more for ... read more

Up at 7, off to brekky in the Old Faithful Club Lounge (Concierge Club Level). Started the day with some croissants, fruit, cereal, juice, cinnamon scrolls and coffee. What a most pleasant way to start a day!. Back to the room, prepare for a day of Retail Therapy and photopgraphy at Downtown Disney. Out the door at 9 and waiting for the Disney Bus for 15 minutes, 5 minutes on the bus and only then does Mrs Chicken realise that the camera battery is still in the room charging. Oh Crap, decide to go to lunch as planned at the T-Rex in DD. AWESOME, got seated in the "Ice Cave". Blue when we arrived, but soon changed all colours as it emulated an event causing the extinction of the dinosaurs. Dino noises and changing colours scared ... read more

Arrived in Germany late for lunch (Junior and Mrs Chicken got lost on the way). Little Chicken went for a couple of fast passes for Soarin (whilst we were getting lost), says he saw a real live Chipmunk (yeah yeah yeah) and still managed to get to the Biergarten for lunch ahead of us. Beautiful German food and some much needed air conditioning for about 1.5 hours and then out to catch a boat across the lake and get a fast pass for Test Track. Then off to ride soarin (awesome for some, overrated for the LC). While waiting for our fast pass time to come up for Test Track we did "Living on the Land" all about new farming tecqniques and food research (most fascinating). A quick character visit (40 minutes in a line :() ... read more

Up Early AGAIN. Surfing Lessons (for Junior and LC) started at Typhoon Lagoon at 7am and we had to be there at 6.45. That meant a taxi trip which left Wilderness Lodge at 6.15am and NO BREAKFAST! What I sacrifice for those two kids! Well Junior took to the water like she had been born there and LC had........ well a little more trouble! When I was watching them get instructions on how to stand on the board, I was silently wondering how long the shoulders of LC would actually be able to stand up this punishment...... didn't take too long to get an answer. First trip in the 2nd largest wave pool in the world and ........ nope, shoulders couldn't take it. Out of the water gets LC and we watch on the sidelines as ... read more

Well we arrived safely in Orlando on Monday night (US Eastern time) after a 5 hour flight from LA. Our first night in LA was rather basic but comfortable enough. The 5 hour flight was also very basic and not very comfortable (not to mention the total lack of on-board entertainment). We arrived at Orlando airport all pretty exhausted from two days of constant travel and little sleep. The Disney bus ride from Orlando airport to Disney's Wilderness Lodge was fine except it seemed like it took forever as we just wanted to be at Disney already. Our check in was a little disorganised but we were treated with the utmost respect and escorted to the Concierge on Level 7 before being taken to our deluxe 2 room suite on level 4. After some quick unpacking ... read more

So the family sits in the Holiday Inn just outside LAX and prepares for another day on aeroplanes as we await our first real destination of Orlando. It is now nearly 4am LA time and the family is all wide awake despite having had only limited sleep on the VAustralia flight over here and limited sleep in this hotel, no fault of the airline seats or the hotel, just changes in timezones being what they are. Let's see we arrived at Tullamarine about 26 hours ago, checked in, dined at Subway and waited the obligatory 2 hours before boarding our flight. For those of you who get the opportunity, try VAustralia's Premium Economy class, way better than eonomy, great food, fab leg room (for those of us who are 6 ft tall!), great service and very ... read more

We have made it to the Wednesday before the Sunday evening departure. We've had junior chicken home from school with a bad cough (great for travelling on a plane) since Tuesday so that has limited our ability to get out and about and do all those things we want before we leave, but we have still managed to get a few things done. Monday was GREAT, went on a lovely pre-holiday shopping spree so we all look the part of tourists holidaying in the sun (great summer clothes combined with that pure white Melbourne winter skin!). I've been and had my natural hair colour restored and puppy has had her monthly sprucing up at Dog Lovers and is loving being inside the house again, particularly as it is icily cold outside at the moment. We did ... read more

2 days of work remaining. Now counting down. Handed over at least some of my work, more to be handed over tomorrow. Presentation to Leadership Team on Friday and I'm almost done. Well that's the work side of things anyway. Let's see, next week: De-stress commences and Holiday mode Here I Come. Have booked the hairdressers (salt and pepper really isn't anywhere near as attractive on me as it is on some of the older and more dashing males I am acquainted with) oh and I've booked the dog in to be washed, fluffed and anti fleaed (don't know why that popped into my head at the same time as the Hairdresser - and a bit unsure what Freud would make of it). Had to buy an additional suitcase lock on the weekend (of course we ... read more
