I'm going to start in the middle here and we'll work our way back as we go along. Sound good? Awesome. So, today is more or less a new beginning for me. I'm about 4 weeks or so into my marathon training and really starting to notice some results. For instance. Last Saturday I ran seven miles. Seven miles! Seven! Now, in comparison to the what, 26.2 that I'll have to run in October, yeah, seven is not such a huge number. But, in comparison to the roughly, oh, I don't know... none, that I used to run, seven is Huge! So that's a major change right there. The next big change... pain. Whew. I mean, I've had a messed up knee for some time now and that's no big thing (especially since I actually bought ... read more

3 days remain until our disembarkment to the foreign lands of Europe. Feels good to finally have graduated from Cal Poly! Doesn't even seem like I have graduated though. Feels like next week I'll be back writing another pointless termpaper on the settlers of the Western frontier, or creating some abstract computer program that serves no purpose other than to confuse and aggravate the students opted to create the bloody thing. This past week I've remained busy by gardening in our 3.5 acre 'estate.' Also got some last minute things to take with me to Europe, namely: underwear that can dry in less than 4 minutes (might be handier than you would think after Running with the Bulls in Pamplona), a plug converter (essential), cool new shades, a few comic-travel books by Bill Bryson, and ... read more

Yes, it's true, the travel blog is back, which means, yes, I am going back on the road! So, where have I been and what have I been doing the last eight months? Here's the QUICK recap and some photos . . . THE RECAP: I arrived back to LA and took a road trip north for my friend Michi's wedding and then up to Bend, OR, to spend some time with my Dad golfing (very rusty on my golf skills, but oh well). Next stop was back down south for two months in Rancho Santa Fe, CA to help my Mom move into her new home. After a quick trip to Mexico to celebrate my birthday and thanksgiving with my family, I signed on to a contracting job back in San Francisco from Nov - ... read more

So I am just starting up this journal so that I can keep everyone posted while I am away in Mexico. I am getting very excited since I leave in 21 days. I will be in Morelia, Michoacan from June 16th to August 23rd, staying with a host family and going to school studying Spanish. I have been told that all the students have the weekends free to travel around so I am looking forward to getting to know Mexico. If you don't want to on this list let me know. Also, you may have to unblock Travelblog in your email so notifications don't end up in your spam box. Well, more to come as departure inches closer. Until then, be well. ... read more

Who said the United States had tightened up their security. They let us in!!!! After a fairly good flight, we cruised through immigration and we were on our way to Ocean Beach. We stayed at Ocean Beach Backpackers for 2 weeks. Most of the crew were quite a bit younger and partied quite a bit so we only felt it was our duty to join in and show them how it is done!! It didn't take long for us to find out that the pub down the road had beers starting at $1.00 from 10am in the morning, and then went up 25 cents every hour after that. They also had the best fish tacos ever!!!! The weather wasn't so good. It was May Grey. The surf was very average and the water so cold, ... read more

Well it's finally got hot here in Phoenix, 105/41 degrees these last couple of days; but we didn't expect to get burned in San Diego earlier in the week... A good friend of ours, Nicola, was in San Diego on business this week, and as it's so close (relatively! - Only 380 miles or 6 hrs on cruise control) we thought we would go and pay her a visit. Ginnie had never been to SD, so it seemed like a good opportunity to catch up with a friend from home, see a new city, escape some heat and avoid some work! An all round winner! We made the decision to go and took off an hour later on Monday morning for the drive across the southern desert of Arizona and California - travelling along I-8 ... read more
