WOW we are back our motorcycle to continue with our last 6 or 7 weeks!!! Can't really believe that there is only such a short time left. We are thrilled to be back to the bike!! It has been 3 months that the bike has been parked in Palm Springs and Rene is dying to know how is favorite toy is doing. So let's continue the adventure up and around the West Coast April 27, 2011 We woke up at 3:30 am to the wonderful smell of brewing coffee??? Rene's mom was up already, had coffee made and some breaky waiting on the table. She spoils us rotten!!! After a quick bite and cup of coffee with the parents, we were off on the adventure once again. We returned our little car and presented ourselves for ... read more

26JAN11 Heather lets me sleep in. Thanks Heather. Breakfast at the hotel, egg omelet. We drive up to the Grand Canyon, which is only 30 odd minutes away. There was quite a bit of snow on the ground to remind me that the canyon is at altitude. The song Mother and Child Reunion was playing on the radio at one point. Now remember that this is the same date that Bek is to be reunited with Anna. What an amazing coincidence. God seems to be playing games, surely. A bit like the "Little Ray of Sunshine" coincidence of '93 and '94 when the girls were born. Coincidence or something else? Hmm!! We spend the whole day driving up and down the south rim, and a bit of the east rim of the Grand Canyon. We stop ... read more

So we collected our car at Las Vegas airport and started driving out to the Grand Canyon – it took us about four and a half hours to get there. We drove past Hoover Dam, which Brett and I think is famous for some reason – possibly it’s the architecture of the dam?!?!? Then we drove into the Grand Canyon National Park, free entry because of National Park Day, or something – it saved us $25, so we were happy. Then we found our accommodation – which was on the rim of the South Canyon! We dumped our stuff and headed out to explore the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon has two visitor points, the South Rim, where we were staying and the North Rim, which was about 10 miles away from us as the crow ... read more

Alarm set at 5.45am to enable us to be ready for the pickup by Maverick Tours for our Canyon Dream Tour. We flew in a 20 seater jet direct to the South Rim. Once we touched down at South Rim it was minus 6 degrees and freezing cold with the wind going right through you. Our new jackets had a test but the pants were not up to it so we need to learn for the colder days ahead. Not long in the cold before our chopper flight. We set off on our chopper flight which was really smooth and lots of fun you certainly see it from a different perspective. It was an 8 seater and we had the 4 seats at the rear and whilst facing forwards Luke & I did not have such ... read more

Arizona My most memorable meal in Arizona was on the last big road trip that I took with my mom in 2004. We traveled to Oregon that July. I was to attend a judicial seminar in Otter Rock, Oregon. Susan doesn't like to drive west because she doesn't like the desert scenery. My mom loved the west, so we drove together to Oregon and she flew out one day and Susan flew in the next day to Portland to meet up with me before we went to Otter Rock on the coast. My mom and I went through OKC, where we saw an 89ers baseball game, then Santa Fe, where we attended church. At that congregation they had a seperate Spanish service at the same time as the Anglo service in the auditorium. The Spanish speaking ... read more

Just a little more than one month ago Lucas and I left Vancouver Island for points south. Looking back, it hardly feels like a month has gone by. I am sure it is a month because in 30+ days we have put more than 5000 km on the Explorer and nearly 200 km on our feet. We hiked Bryce Canyon and the Staircase Escalante in Utah. Walked the rim of the Grand Canyon and hiked down into its’ depths. We have basked in the warmth of our good friends Al and Helene Mein’s hospitality, in Mesa and experienced the mystical quality of the red rocks around Sedona. Today I sit basking in the warm Arizona sun of Scottsdale. I am sitting by the pool and finally taking the time to update all of you on our ... read more

Day 4 – The Grand Canyon – Williams and the Grand Canyon Railway Today we boarded the Grand Canyon Railway in Williams Arizona and went to the Grand Canyon. We took luxury parlor class up there and coach back. Both ways were fun but of course luxury parlor was a lot more comfortable. There was entertainment on both trips. The Grand Canyon was just awesome! When we got back to Williams we had dinner at Jessica’s Family Restaurant. It was a Greek/American Restaurant and the food was delicious. ... read more

Übernachtung so gute 400 Dollarchen.
