Alarm set at 5.45am to enable us to be ready for the pickup by Maverick Tours for our Canyon Dream Tour. We flew in a 20 seater jet direct to the South Rim. Once we touched down at South Rim it was minus 6 degrees and freezing cold with the wind going right through you. Our new jackets had a test but the pants were not up to it so we need to learn for the colder days ahead. Not long in the cold before our chopper flight.
We set off on our chopper flight which was really smooth and lots of fun you certainly see it from a different perspective. It was an 8 seater and we had the 4 seats at the rear and whilst facing forwards Luke & I did not have such a good view as those in the front. Kerry & Elise had the windows seats. It went for about 25 minutes and flew across to to the North Rim and back in a big wide loop. I did not realise that the North Rim was 1,000 feet higher and it had a lot more snow on that side and different lanscape to.
After
the flight we checked out the views from the lookout and the kids played in the snow / ice (there was only a little bit on the ground from the last snowfall two weeks ago). They gave us a boxed lunch with water, cookies, crisps and a salad roll. We also checked out a couple of lodges (Angels Lodge and El Tovar). Took the bus back to the airport but plane had left already oops ! Back to the local town for 45 minutes to kill so went to a cafe to get some hot chocolate and had crap service from some old lady. She said Luke was causing a health hazard by drinking powerade inside (we did not buy it there) and I was asked to remove him from the premises ! Still they had Internet so I was able to check in for tomorrows flight to NOLA (that is code for New Orleans Louisiana) and get our boarding passes.
Returned to Vegas later than planned at 3.15PM. A quick nap before getting ready for tonights show. We decided the let the kids stay at the room and Kerry & I went off to Caesars Palace to see
our headline show Jerry Seinfeld. We had dinner inside the casino with some mexican wraps washed down by a Corona and off to the show. He had a support act who was really funny and then on came Jerry. He was great and just talks about everyday life and how things we do are funny. It was really awesome to have finally seen a major show in Vegas at my 3rd visit here. He was only doing 2 shows in Vegas so we were fortunate to get tickets.
The show was in the same venue where Celine Dion and now Cher have been headlining for years now. Cher even has her own shop right outside where you can buy all sorts of Sonny & Cher memorabillia and DVD's etc.
Tomorrow we leave Vegas and fly to New Orleans.
