¿Cómo está? (How are you?) We are just great, any better and it would be illegal! Time is ticking very slowly here as it normally does; yesterday someone asked what time it was, & 5 PM was thrown out, but it was only 3. Hours of fun to go :) Yesterday was a day to chill, and chill we did. After an amazing breakfast on the beach of omelettes, waffles, bacon, amazing hash browns, and fresh fruit, along with mimosas, we were in tip top shape for a walk along the beach. We returned to a spa we had gone to last summer, and for those of you that have your trip booked here next month, it's on Constituyentes between 5th Ave & 1st called Beauty & Health Spa. It's a full spa and we chose ... read more

"Relax unwind. Get into a flip flop state of mind". So where'd I leave off yesterday? I think it was about 5 PM & we were just settling into a nice groove after arriving in Playa-Dice slash paradise. As the day turned toward night, the clouds moved in, and a beautiful humid rain came down, bouncing off the pool like coins dancing in a foundation. Our balcony is covered so I sat out for a bit, watching the rain dance over the surf as it pounded back & forth into the shore like it was having a fight with it. It’s like waves set to music; waves hissing up to the beach, kind of like a quick applause that dies out, then comes back again. As the day turned to night, it was still quite humid, ... read more

The Ocean Is A Poem Without Words. HOLA! Coming to you live from warm sunny Playa del Carmen. We got here by 10:45 am this morning & are taking in the warm sunshine that's spreading all over our happy faces as we lift them up to the sun. What a welcoming sight Playa always is. No matter how many times we’ve been here, it still is a wonderful feeling once your feet hit the ground and your senses are awakened with the smell of sea salt in the air and the sounds of surf and music drifting by. We are like kids in a candy shop enjoying the array of goodies on display. I will admit it, I am an AQUA-HOLIC! The mere sight of the ocean makes my cares hitch a ride out of town. ... read more

"Sunshine is my favorite accessory".~ Happy New Year to all our family & friends & whoever the heck else reads these blogs! If you are getting this blog, and you never have before, all I can say is Travel Blog through updates to their system erased part of my addresses. And I'm not sure you want to read my blogs, so if I mistakenly added you, feel free to use the power of delete! (There are years of blogs on here for those that are new and wish to read about our trips to paradise, with many crazy adventures, good times and ups and downs as well.) Bonnie and I came back to Mexico from Guatemala. We went diving in Cenotes around Tulum and Playa del Carmen, and had a few dives in the Ocean near Playa del Carmen. And Silvester in Cancun...:-) Diving in the ocean was special we wanted to see sharks, and we saw some at "Jardines". Just a few hundred meters away from the pier at Playa del Carmen. And they were Bullsharks. The massive, strong guys. I compare them to bouncers in a nightclub. The guys who throw you out if they want to. Still they are quite elegant. But really strong. Diving Cenotes is still one of the most special kinds of diving I know. Its like flying in a crystal clear world, crystal clear water... The Pit with its fog-like layer of H2S is a very ... read more

"If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans." ~ Well God must have been slapping his knee in laughter over our plans to get home Weds. night & safely tucked into our beds. HA! So here's the story... Our flight from Cancun was delayed by 3.5 hours; this in turn, caused us to miss our connecting flight home. Our airline assured us we'd have vouchers for food and a hotel in Toronto. While not ideal having to go back & forth to the airport with heavy luggage & carry-ons (and no Al as he and Lara flew out on another flight), it was what it was. Talk about taking the wind out of a girl's sail after a tropical vacation. I had suggested to Martha we stay another night in Playa and ... read more

"Oh what a glorious morning, oh what a glorious day, plenty of sunshine heading my way, zip-a-dee-doo-dah".... It's hard to believe within 24 hours we'll be waking up in our own beds. Right now I've opened our sliding doors to a humid warm breeze and the sun is playing hide and seek with me through the palm trees. Oh those pool waterfalls are so inviting; I think it's time to get in my bathing suit and hit them! It was a really nice sunny hot day here yesterday; I saw more people with sunburns than all of my time here. We were careful and no one got burnt. It was the type of weather that gets the beaches hopping and the blenders going! We had a great day at the condo in the pool, and later ... read more

Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean "I'll miss you till we meet again". We were sad to say good-bye to grandma and grandpa who left for home (Crossfield Alberta) today. I hate good-byes, so I say, "till we meet again". The kids are going to miss you both, but we've established a good yearly (or bi-yearly) ritual of getting together. This has been a wonderful summer vacation, and ending it at Porto Playa Condo Hotels is an added bonus. I LOVE Luna, but after a while being oceanfront, you can appreciate a break from the constant stream of sounds, noises, and crowds. This condo is set back a block from the ocean, but in the heart of Playa but you'd never know there was a bustling happening outside ... read more

A recipe has no soul. You as the cook must bring soul to your recipe.Food glorious food,oh how I love thee. I knew we'd be best friends when I met you ;) And food & I have been friends a long time now; like good friends I get it and it gets me! I am forever on a quest about food; how many different soups I can make, how many ways there are to stuff a pork tenderloin or chicken & am always checking out new recipes. And it's sheer joy for me to experiment with herbs & spices as well. The world is my oyster and watch out oyster - I'll eat you too! I will cook anything for our guests, and quite often I'm almost too full to eat my dinner if it's an ... read more
