Just when you think it's safe to go on your computer...here I am! I have been asked many times about the blogs I write for Playa Beach Getaways & where (some of you) can read them. So I thought I'd share a few. I'll send them out one at a time for easier access. (Skip this if you have better things to do like get a root canal :) The blogs I write are posted to Playa Beach Getaways website, and we do it to give guests of PBG traveling to Playa an idea of what to do, what to see, where to go, tips, information, travel info, etc. I try to write them with a sense of humor to keep it light & not dull. I really believe in sharing as much as I know, ... read more

Life is like an ocean. It can be calm & still, or rough & rigid. But in the end, it's always beautiful. ~ Well we got home without a glitch or hitch for the most part. Coming from bathing suits and shorts to hats, mitts and jackets could be considered torture! But we've done it before many times, & I expect we'll do it again. I think it's harder for the kids than us toughened old birds! It's the price one has to pay to get away on a tropical trip. (You delight in our pain way too much!) The only issue at the airport was going through Customs/Immigration as they did not have the staff to handle the planes landing. (We overheard a conversation from "those in the know" that there weren't enough staff) & ... read more

It's no coincidence that four of the six letters in health is "heal." Good morning from Playa! It's hard to believe how cold it is back home & how nice and warm it is in Playa. We have had one day after another of amazing weather with the exception of a few cool days last week. No rain at all, and the wind has been very slight which makes for a wonderful vacation for those that want to do water activities. Or sit around and drink margaritas :) Al had another amazing dive and saw a crab that was HUGE, like 50 pounds huge. And eels, lobster, lion fish and lots of barracudas. He had his underwater video camera and I'm hoping we can download his video so for those of you that don't dive, can ... read more

"Family is like music; some high notes, some low notes but always a beautiful song". Well this time I know where we left off. How could I not. Dad is in intensive care, family rallying around him, including 3 of his nieces who are nurses at the hospital. Talk about the luck of the Irish (well except for that stupid heart attack which wasn't so lucky) but he's in amazing hands and if it's going to happen, Dad had the best outcome possible with the exception of Mom/us being away. :( We spoke to him this morning and his lovely great niece Kendra had brought him breakfast and he was tickled pink over that. Dad LOVES breakfast, so despite what he's been through, he's eating which is always a good sign. Dad has been a fit ... read more

"I'd rather stay here and work rather than going to the beach'" said no one ever. Well the limes are safe, no one was bugging us last night in the pool and I didn't have to get up and fire them at anyone. My gosh, we slept like babies or big babies! Mom even slept in till 8:30 & I went in to check on her & give her toe a wiggle! The beds and duvets are so comfortable here and they aren't chintzy with giving you the good stuff. Having comfortable beds can make or break a vacation. So it was a glorious morning here sitting out on the balcony. We made breakfast, lounged, read up on the rooftop terrace enjoying splendid views as the beach flourished & the fishing and tour boats started to ... read more

“The ocean stirs the heart, inspires the imagination and brings eternal joy to the soul.” HOLA all you beautiful folks on Domingo (Sunday)! We were up and at them around 7:30 this morning, seeing rays of light trickle through the curtains & the soft waves lapping at the shore. We knew it was going to be a sunny-side up day. It's a glorious hot sunny day (it was 26C at 8:30) We made bacon, eggs, waffles, toast with fresh fruit for our girl's breakfast on the balcony. We've got some nice jazz playing (Tony Bennett & BB King doing a duet of "Let the Good Times Roll" and the good times are a' rolling! Al is off to dive today and the sea is calm so no doubt it will be a great day to make ... read more

Don't ever be ashamed to tell your parents you love them. Ever. We have enjoyed ourselves so much as you can see from the blogs. I am very happy that Mom was able to come along with us; it has made for a fun trip and a chance to spend quality time with her. Life is busy with kids, schedules, work, and with mom out of town, we have to plan for visits. So being able to spend this wonderful time together, to sit down together, break bread, chat and share and just bask in each other's company (well assuming Mom is basking in mine?) has been a gift. A real gift. I have a wonderful dear friend who is dealing with her mother being ill. And I got an email from her to say please ... read more

Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream. ~ We REALLY relaxed yesterday, almost as laid back as that frog on my blog :) I know, I know...what the hell else would we be doing but relaxing on vacation. Not like we're working in the coal mines.... Though I have to say I am doing work here too for Playa Beach Getaways. When you work from a laptop you can do it anywhere, including paradise. We almost needed to hire a crane to get our lazy butts out of bed by 8:30 am Friday morning. Al opened our bedroom balcony the night before & hearing the gentle laps of the ocean is like taking a sleeping pill! It is THE most soothing sound that nature offers, next to a soft rain or the rustle of trees. ... read more

"Come to the beach Where the sea is blue. And little white waves Come running at you." Buenos Dias! Top o' the morning to you all! How is life treating you? It's a glorious day here today, it's been cool here the last 2 days but it hasn't stopped us from "gettin' jiggy with it". ;) We enjoyed a morning coffee on the balcony; it's so sunny that it's almost hard to gaze at the ocean for very long with the strong reflection bouncing back. The beach is getting busy with everyone that was hibernating inside outside now streaming out in throngs to soak up some rays. It's marvelous to have our own big private balcony, with dining table & chairs to eat, drink, chat & watch the world go by. Our roof top terrace is ... read more
