The great thing about cruising is that you can wake up somewhere different everyday. Yesterday I woke up on the floor of the Officers mess and today I woke up on top of the canopy of the bandstand in explorers lounge!!! We've had 2 full days at sea sailing down the West Coast of the USA and along the thin Baja California peninsula that starts at the border town of Tijuana and finishes up at our destination for today, Cabo San Lucas. ‘Cabo' is the Mexican equivalent to one of the ‘Costas' in Spain. It is a popular destination for college students on their ‘spring break', to get drunk, ride on a banana boat or go paragliding…usually in that order!!! The average all year round temperature in Cabo is 74ºF. Today the temperature was touching the ... read more

Embarkation day had arrived. The Island Princess was not due to dock until 10am so for check in to begin from 1pm (by which they probably mean 12 noon) they would need all those who disembark in San Francisco to piss off pretty quickly!! I refer to the vernacular because although the ship had come from Alaska, about 600 passengers will have embarked in Vancouver and would be guests of Princess for 2 nights only, their destination being San Francisco. These mini cruises are known as 'party cruises' and it is just an excuse to eat and drink as much as possible in the 2 days aboard. We just hope that the ship has been left in a fit state to continue and that there were some blueberry muffins left for the rest of us. I ... read more

Renting a home in San Felipe, Mexico, has become very popular over renting hotels for several reasons. 1. San Felipe rental homes have become more popular than hotels because they offer better bargains. Many of the vacation rental homes in San Felipe are owned by Americans who bought homes during the real estate boom years and making a profit was never the primary motive for buying these homes. 2. Rental homes tend to be more spacious and give you that home away from feeling, just in a different city. 3. The best resort in San Felipe to rent a home is in Eldorado Ranch. This vacation resort has the best amenities in San Felipe including swimming pools, 18 hole golf course, tennis courts, pickle courts and lots more, all designed keep you entertain... read more

Geo: 31.872, -116.61We arrived in Ensenada today. Our tour was at 9:45 so we met the girls for breakfast at 9:00 in Beach Blanket. Then we headed to Diversions to meet for the excursion. We boarded a bus and took a brief tour of the city before driving to the restaurant where we were going to learn to prepare Mexican food and eat it.When we sat down, we had molajetes with a whole tomato, some onion, a chili pepper, cilantro, lime, and avocado. We first made salsa Mexicana with all but the avocado and then we mashed the avocado and added it to the salsa to make guacamole. It was delicious. Our next dish was chicken enchiladas with tomatillo sauce. Followed by tostados with beans and shredded beef.We all enjoyed our lunch experience, even Kelsie who didn't want ... read more

Many folks have not heard about San Felipe, it's a small town, about 30,000 residents, and is located two hours south of the California boarder. The road to San Felipe from the boarder has good signs, so it's hard to miss your way. Road condition is good, however, there are a couple of things to watch out for. - Sharp turn on highway 5 have caused many accidents, so be sure to pay attention to the signs. - Road vallies: There are 5 - 10 vallies in the road along highway 5. They are harm less as long ad you don't panic when you go through one. When the road depresses suddenly, don't start slamming on the breaks. - Road Construction: There's a 3 - 4 mile stretch of highway 5 where road construction is going ... read more

Geo: 23.0651, -109.6779:30 AM - no phone call from the timeshare rep. They must be a bit behind today.10:00 AM - still no phone call from the rep. WTF is going on??!?!?!! They must've changed tactics, as their traditional methods have so far proven unsuccessful. But what does that mean? Would I step in the shower, only to find a timeshare rep hiding in the corner, ready to pounce? When I lift the toilet seat to do my morning business, would somebody's head pop out of the toilet, spouting the investment potential of fractional vacation property ownership in Mexico? I can't live under such constant fear and stress!!! Luckily, the perfect cure for timeshare rep-induced stress in Cabo is easy to find - stick your face in a plate of food and start sucking like a ... read more

Geo: 22.88, -109.9Eat. Drink. Suntan. Swim. Repeat. And then keep on repeating until you either pass out drunk, burst your pants from overeating, turn red as a lobster, or your seven days in paradise are up. It's the mission statement of anyone that goes to an all-inclusive resort - those seeking adventure or originality need not apply! The appeal and luxury of the all-inclusive is undeniable - so easy and so simple, you don't need to have a single worry on your entire trip. What it lacks in originality, it definitely makes up for in convenience and uniformity - you know exactly what you're going to get, each and every time. But what's a positive for most is a negative for me - all-inclusives can be generic, all following the same formula. You could be in Mexico, ... read more

Geo: 28.3237, -115.994So, with all our ports of call done... we had two days at sea before our cruise finally ended. The last two sea days were a bit of a blur. We were awake before 6:30 both mornings as we needed to readjust to central time. I realized on the first sea day that I would have already been to work by the time we woke-up. We spent our time doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that...taking pictures around the ship, walking all the decks, packing, napping & relaxing. We also attended the Game of Love and Marriage (kinda like the ship's version of The Newlywed Game). It was HILARIOUS!... read more

Geo: 22.88, -109.9Today we went to the hottest place I've ever been in my life… Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I-yi-yi Hot Hot Hot I was really excited for today because today was going to be the day we actually did what I like to do on vacation the most – swim, snorkel, get in the water!! I am a bit of a water baby and hubby had never snorkeled in the ocean before! After much back and forth thoughts about what we were going to do today, hubby and I decided to do the Carnival Sail & Snorkel Fiesta excursion in the morning …and then hire a boat to take hubby parasailing …and then hit Medano Beach for some more water fun …and stop by Senor Frogs for margaritas on our way out… and maybe a ... read more
