We landed in Vancouver and took an other rental car for over two weeks. Instead of relaxing from the flight we drove directely to Calgery (took us 2 days to get there, driving, driving, driving...) It was raining cats and dogs, but as soon as we arrived in Calgery we had some beautiful sunshine. This little town out in the nowhere is kind of charming. We visited the Olympia Site and went to the Saddledom station and tried out the local bars of course. But honestely, after 3 days we had enough and moved on to the Nature. Like all the Tourist we went to Banff, through the National Park until Jaspar. On the way we saw some awesome lakes like Morain Lake, Lake Louise, Mirror Lake, Emerald Lake in the Yoho N.P. We also did ... read more

Today we left the province of Quebec and continued along the St Lawrence River Valley to Toronto. We stopped along the way to take a boat cruise along through 1000 Island District. We saw the famous Boldt Castle which originally had a bowling alley, hotel and all sorts of other extravagant things in it!! We also saw the world’s shortest international bridge which looked about 4 metres long and it joins two islands, one which is on the US side and the other on the Canadian side. The houses throughout the Island are elaborate and the private islands range from having a backyard of stone to forest. Went to the Big Apple - which I have to tell you has nothing on the Big Banana. They have a tribute inside the restaurant to big fruit and ... read more

So... When I get out of the truck, returning from a day on the block, I kind of limp from one sore foot to the other. Scrubbing my hands, grabbing my dishes, lining up for food, every action is slooow, trying to minimize all unnecessary jolts to by battered being. But I've found the cure...I'm aching all over until I lie flat on my back in my boxer shorts, and smoke a cigarette. Its great. After four days, and more than 2000 trees - which is said to be not at all bad for a rookie - I'm in Edson for my first day off. I've got a crew, led by Tim and Samaya. Lots of friendly folks, of all sorts. Brian is fifty I think, he's planted for like 17 years. There's three or four ... read more

Welcome to our new travel blog....we've been waiting to set this up for a few weeks and thought, hey, we're doing a little traveling BEFORE we go on our world trip, so why not share the domestic adventures first? It'll give everyone a little heads up on where we come from. We're currently living at Sarah's parents' place in Vancouver, having given up our basement suite, and packed and stored all our stuff for 15 months or so. We're hoping to sell the little Mazda in the next few days or so before we head to Windsor, but if not we should have some time when we're back from Ontario. Almost daily side trips to MEC and other outdoor stores are keeping us busy and geared up. There you go, a little teaser. Next entry in ... read more

First of all, congratulations to my parents, Archie and Phyllis Husby of Calgary, Alberta, as they celebrate their 58th wedding anniversary today. As always, Mom and Dad, you remain an inspiration for everyone who knows you, especially your grandchildren, and soon to be 8 great-grandchildren. You two holding hands is still one of the most beautiful pictures in the entire universe. Sola Nonna is in Prince Edward Island, enjoying the great beauty of place and people in her home country. Tuscany is gorgeous; anyone who has visited there will say so. But, after a couple of days of driving--NOT walking-- around this tiny, beautiful province, I have to say that its beauty definitely rivals that of Tuscany. The green of PEI grasses and trees, the deep red of the soil, and the variegated blues of the ... read more

I'm just testing out my blog for when I actually start travelling. However, I am officially on vacation now and enjoying it, although the Ontario heat is making me lethargic ...I'm just hanging out with family and friends while preparing for the flight to London. I'll be in Europe for at least a month and a half, and then hopefully a few weeks in Sierra Leone. More to come...... read more

Well hello from Canada!! We are currently in Toronto, started out by headed up the New England Coast through Connecticut and Maine where we stopped for lunch. Nat and I made a salad in the grocery store in an effort to be good! Before we knew it we were at the boarder where we did some duty free shopping and had our passports checked - they pulled a few of the dodge looking characters aside for more questioning before they let them through, fortunately I was not one of them!! We then continued through to Quebec City, Canada’s French speaking province. Nat and I slept a lot along the way but when I was awake I saw how beautiful the scenery was, it was as I had expected, bubbling rivers with nice houses set at the ... read more

So I last left you in Jasper. We had a wonderful time there but it has been very interesting since. We hitched to Prince George with a great Canadian Lady but she started to fill our heads with stories about people going missing and getting killed between Prince George and Prince Rupert.......So we decided not to hitch any further. We got dropped of at the info centre in Prince George and the really nice girl helped us decide what to do from there. There was a bus leaving that night 11.15pm so we decided to wait for it. My gosh there is not much to do in Prince George!!!!!!! We meet the most interesting people at the bus stop, and heard about lots of life stories that we really didn't want to hear about. But it ... read more

Giving the new journal its first entry is tough. I'm not travelling right now and I don't have too much to say. But everyone has to start somewhere and I'm planning to travel down to Washington next week, England and Ireland in August and maybe South America later in the year.... read more

Donc mon boulot consiste à participer à l'istallation de ligne ... read more
