All right folks! Since Jenn and I are going away to Thailand soon, we figured a great way to keep in touch w everyone is to send out a group email...and this way we can let you know what we've been up to and let you see some pics as well. This is a test entry to see if this will work properly. If everybody could just enter a comment or send us an email to let us know it worked, that would be great. These pics are from a couple weeks ago. I was up in Sucker Creek, North Monetville, and we decided to go fishing...yes fishing in a boat in January. After the weather we had today, you wouldn't think it was warm enough to be fishing in a boat, in January, in the ... read more

Snow, 4c What’s worse than saying goodbye to someone you love? Doing it twice and knowing how much it’s going to hurt the second time. That’s the sad bit. The happy bit is xmas and new years eve. Despite all my moving around in the past and traveling I’ve never spent xmas away from family. This was a first, not only were we far from home but it was also my first xmas with Marg. There were no complaints, it was just different and would be xmas to remember for a long time. How often do you wake up xmas eve and watch sea lions on the beach?? On our way from Cambria to San Francisco we stopped at a quite unassuming beach expecting to see one sea lion on the shore. We didn’t. Instead we ... read more

Y compris celui d'horreur qu'est la Philo 3 XP ARGH I missed a day, I need to practice writting once a day even if I have nothing to say. Today I went to get my Travel check to spend a little there. We are leaving Sunday around 10 o'clock. I am very exited to go. My luggage are closed and finished, I went to get ... read more

Happy New Year everyone! The crunch is on - only 2 weeks until we fly out of Vancouver to Saigon. We got our Visa's from the Vietnamese embassy in Ottawa in record time - less than 1 week from the day our papers and passports left here until they were returned stamped and ready to go. You need a Visa to get into Vietnam and they are issued for various lengths of time and for single or multi enteries - incase you plan on popping over into Laos or Cambodia then coming back in. We paid for 1 month visas but got them issued for 42 days on a single entry. I spent a small fortune at Walmart last week. Bought multi-vities for us all, rehydration packages for the kids incase they get diahrea, acidopholous to ... read more

It seems there have been many opportunities to make promises lately, the lanterns drew one out of me and the red sunrise as we left required the same. I can only promise to live. Forever now, I will be always seeking a part of the place I am not in. Leaving Thailand so unexpectedly and not at all prepared has made it all the more difficult to deal with. We are in Canada now, and like every traveller who returns after such intensity, dealing with the reverse culture shock and wanting to be elsewhere is something that just takes time. I am not finished with my time there yet, and I know leaving things so unsettled will only draw me back sooner. In the meantime, I'll see about work and wait ....for a short time.... to ... read more

Well, the New Year has arrived and I am excited for all that is to come!! The countdown is on -- yes!!! my trip is BOOKED! I depart Canada on Sunday, January 21st/07 for Bangkok, Thailand where my adventure will begin. I plan to travel for 4 weeks and my route will be as follows: Bangkok - Northern Thailand (Chang Mai, etc.) - Laos (Louang Prabang, Vangvieng, Vientianne) - Vietnam (Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi an, Hue, Na trang, HoChiMin/Saigon - Cambodia (Siem Riep, Phnom Phen, Ankor) and back to Thailand. If I have time at the end (doubtedly) I'd like to venture south to visit some Islands/beaches that Southern Thailand is notorious for. I realize that I have packed alot into 4 weeks, but you know me...gotta make the most of that precious vacation time. I ... read more
