Happy New Year everyone!!! Well my new years eve wasn't really the best but I had already kind of expected that. I ended up only working for 4 hours and then got sent home sick at 10:30. They tried to keep me as long as they could but after running to the washroom 5 or 6 times they were paying me for just standing around looking ill. So I went home put my pjs on and went over to my friends house to lay on the sofa and watch movies and wait for drunk people to come home to make me laugh and cheer me up which they did. I called in sick the next day too and now am feeling 100 times better. Since i've been sick I haven't really been up to much of ... read more

Hi Nackers Well Beefie and I have traded in the sun and the beach babes in for the cold and some snow bunnies. When we flew into Toronto it was -8C and I reckon my balls were up in my throat, especially since we only had our cricket whites on. Once we found our bearings we decided to go up to one of the mountains and have a look around at a place called Georgian peaks near Collingwood. There was not much going on so we decided to go to the pub for a few pints and to watch some sport. What sort of commonwealth country does not have cricket on the tellie Beefie is writing a letter to the Queen telling Lizzie that she should let the frogs have the country if they are not ... read more

Hi all! Firstly we hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas and New Years and that you all managed to have a bit of a break and enjoy a beverage or two! Last time we wrote we were in Durham, staying with Marks’ Nan, who was tickled pink with our company! She even took us to church to “show us off” to all her friends in the congregation!! So we had some down time staying there and managed to fill up our hours looking for a car only to find absolute duds. During our time in Durham we both managed to secure jobs in Collingwood (which was only an hour away) on Blue Mountain- Mark in retail and I in hospitality, and secure accommodation in the town. So we did do some good work while we were ... read more

Well I have finally experienced my first "holiday" as part of my "working holiday" since I arrived here in Vancouver just over 2 months ago. I just arrived home Tuesday night after a four day trip into the Canadian Rockie Mountains over the New Year holiday and I had the time of my life! We had perfect weather most of the time except the last day, but I'll get to that! We started out from Vancouver on Saturday morning with a bus full of eager beavers. An Irish guy and myself were the only people that spoke English as a first language - there was a Polish girl, French girl, about 10 Brazillians and the rest were Koreans!! Everyone was basically in Canada to learn English, so their english wasn't too bad. Our first day was ... read more

Muahahahahahahaha Yesterday I wrote nothing since I ... read more

Arrived in Whilster on Friday afternoon and there sure is plenty of snow this year. Since arriving we've see over 1/2 a metre of fresh powder fall. This snow is amazing. Fresh powder certainly beats the graded snow and ice we are used to boarding on. No need to go off the track to find powder. If you do you sink up to your neck.... We're all having an awesome time here. Certainly a place I be returning to in the future. No chance to up load any photos, so check out Rohan's blog to see SNOW. all the same pics anyway. http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/Canada/British-Columbia/Whistler-Blackcomb/blog-117548.html ... read more

Well, she (the boat) finally has a new name, "Big Sky." The departure date is nearing and our excitement (and nerves) are building. We're wrapping up our careers, which doesn't come without emotion as we've poured our hearts, souls and energy into creating them for the last (combined) 65! years. Excel spreadsheets are a God-send, so we don't have to keep the details stored in our heads. Lists of items to pack, sell, give away; lists of "to do" from dentist visits, first aid courses, to researching the best medical plans; lists of financial tasks from international banking access, insurance to personal files filing; and of course filling up with "family" and "friends" before we set sail. We've charted a tentative course that begins in Turku, Finland, the Gulf of Bothnia (Swedish side), Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, ... read more

CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR Firstly, I have put up Montreal photos and am just about to put up photos of Christmas and New Year on my photo page http://s143.photobucket.com/albums/r141/michty6/ I was slightly hungover leaving Montreal to go to Ottawa, I had organised a carpool which turned out very well and Im going to try and do more now... The guy driving was called Jack and has just started up his carpool business (www.autotaxi.com), which he is also just about to expand by offering a Ottawa-Toronto route. He also believes that Quebec should be a separate nation from Canada, but not at the moment as they do not have a strong leader! I was heading to Ottawa, to meet one of my really good friends from Glasgow, Jenni, to spend Christmas with her family. Jenni and her ... read more
