I'm starting to get nervous about my "trip" to New Zealand. I can't grasp how it's been over 2 years of me debating taking the plunge, I really can't believe it was only 6 months ago that I booked my flight and received my visa. It's all culminating now, and it's hard. Harder then I thought it would be. I'm trying to find time to see everyone once more. I know I won't get to see Rocky, but yet if some miracle were to happen. I'm down visiting my sister for a week in South Carolina, the weekend before that I'm in St. Catharines to see Reta, hopefully Lori, the camping crew?, and my Grandmother. I am going to see if this weekend coming is good for Toronto, but I'm not sure due to finances for ... read more

I know I know it’s been ages since my last web page. Sorry to those of you who can’t live with out it (A.K.A Mum and Dad). Hope you enjoy this one. It’s been a hectic couple of weeks with heaps of family and friends in town (hence the title) The Crothall (mum’s side of the family) clan all started arriving about two weeks ago in preparation for my cousin Sarah’s wedding. This was held on Sunday the 3rd of September. Right in the middle of all this my great friend and traveling buddy Kate Lacey comes into town as well. There is lots to tell but I’m going to focus on the long weekend just been. It started on Friday with a fantastic family BBQ round at Adam’s place. John my uncle cooked lamb chops ... read more

On the 11th of September 2005, I had the privilege of being included in Brampton's Fire and Emergency Services Honor Guard, whilst attending the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Ottawa. Under the Honor Guards guidance, I was presented with a unique opportunity to represent not only the New South Wales Fire Brigades but Australia as a whole, in a world class memorial service tribute to our comrades that have tragically offered their lives in the line of duty. The flag party usually comprising of the Canadian, Ontario and Brampton Fire and Emergency Services flags, had a unusual International flavor this year, courtesy of S/FF Chris Arthey, Chris had taken it upon himself to scour Ottawa and walk for miles to obtain an Australian flag, to held by myself and to be included in our flag line. ... read more

long time offline. sorry about that. we're back. our time in india has finished, we had a whistlestop return to the UK, before flying out here to North America and Canada. I'm sitting here in a hotel lobby, trying desperately to remember what we've done for the last month. lets try to summarise in a paragraph or 2... the end of india turned into a fast paced touristic frenzy. train to Agra, and a great visit to the Taj Mahal. Generally I don't go for looking at stuff but the big marble palace built as a symbol of love for a queen who died, by a husband who then died alone and staring at the palace, locked up by the son who wanted all the cash. then another very long train trip to amritsar to see ... read more

For those that have been around Fitzroy, VIC or Newton, NSW some parts of Toronto will be familiar. The area of most interest was Queen street West. This is the side of the city I got to see on the first few days in Canada. Toronto's much celebrated multi-cultural population is fairly evident, but not dramatically different to Sydney or Melbourne. I do like the Canadian accent and the smiles of many of the people who are both friendly and outgoing. With only a short time in Canada and with a keen need to see more of this country, I decided to head into the wilderness. This led me to the Algonquin National Park, one of the closest parks to Toronto. It was about 3.5 hrs north. One of my limitations was that I was not ... read more

Hello all Well, we have been in Canada for 2 days now... (thats counting the 1 day of plane travel) and its very lovely here in O Canada. The people are a lot friendly than the americans and the country is very NZ looking so reminds me of home alot. Cept there are cute little chipmunks and racoons and squirrels!! (which i am on a hunt to locate and make friends with :) and the 12 lane highways). Since we rushed our last email, i will now finish what we started about Hawaii. We decided on the last day to snorkel all day at Hanauma Bay in the blistering heat. We brought some flash 'lolly' smell sun screen which didnt really work to well as we are both now quite sun burnt. That didnt make a ... read more

Getting to Toronto I had mixed feelings. It was great to finally be by myself and independent but then again I was upset that I was away from family, whom I had such a great time with in the U.S of A. I also, for the first time since being away started to really miss everyone back in OZ. I guess being alone and knowing nobady really puts things in perspective. But it was a challenge I had to face head on...........and it was tough initially! Trying to sette down and find a place to live in was a pain............until now that is. So since arriving it has kind of been up and down. As time passes though it'll get better i guess. And what happened was me & my mate Johnny from UTS who has ... read more

hey there kids, so i made it back to ontario in one piece, the first night i was home i went to the rcyc club on toronto island, it the yaght club where my dad was racing in the world cup for eight metre boats, he wanted me to come down that day....imagine this....me, tired from travelling for so long, dressing up to get on this ferry where everyone was in a shirt and tie, trying to ignore the fact that everyone is staring at me because i have some crazy allergic reaction on my leg and dreadlocks. I DIDNT FIT IN. when i got there, i knew a few people, but they totally treated me differently, perhaps because they barely recognized me. regardless, i got drunk to forget how much i didnt fit into the ... read more
