So the day is finally here. Too much stuff to do and who knows what I forgot. Whatever it is - too bad! Up at 4am to catch the flight to Toronto. What made me think there would be no clouds and I would see whatever there is to see. There are reasons why I always take the isle, I just forgot them. The clouds were nice anyway. A little stop in the Maple Leaf lounge in Toronto, playing on the internet, eating and drinking, then meeting Joanna in 5 or 6 hours. What are the bets that our flights land as scheduled, 5 minutes apart? We'll see :-) Cheers, J... read more

My first trip to Toronto was few years ago in late December when I was able to snatch a cheap round-trip flight from the small town Hagerstown regional airport to Toronto (via Pittsburgh). It was cold and cold. I think I will like more and more Toronto as I have reasons to visit now. Here are few memories of the trip.... read more

Woo hoo! We made it! Welcome to Lindsay & Lucy's travel blog for road trip Canada / US 2007!!! We arrived in Hamilton on Wed 12th after slight delay in take off! STA will pay! Stayed in Hamilton overnight (sadly too tired to experience the delights offered by Hooters which was right below our hotel...ah well we have 6 weeks!) and headed to Niagara Falls on the 13th. The Falls are big, wet, tacky and brilliant! We were so lucky with the weather, sunny and gorgeous. Result! Donned our attractive blue ponchos and jumped on the Maid of the Mist boat where we got soem fab photos and the soaking of our lives. It was fab. Walked miles around Niagara (with me still in poncho for large part of it - dancing down the street. Fully ... read more

Well we made it to Canada just about in one piece. After an 8 hour flight we finally found our first hostel, The Planet Traveller, although we did have to ask a couple of locals for directions!!! Jet lag took its toll on us and we were in bed by 8:30 on Sunday night. After a very unsettled night we got up on Monday morning ready to explore Toronto and the surrounding areas. We wandered through downtown Toronto through the Finance District where we spotted some very well dressed hot Canadian men!! We also took a walk through the very vibrant district of Kensington where our hostel was, you've never seen houses painted so brightly! Chinatown was just round the corner with some very dubious shop window displays - pigs backs and roasted mini chicken type ... read more

I haven't posted in months because I haven't been travelling, though I've been up to all sorts of adventures. I did a third Keating trip in June, with Orchard Park, my all-time favourite school. This was the 5th time I'd been their guide over the past 6 years. I adore the teachers, I adore the students and without fail, I always have the most brilliant time with them. I loved every day I spent showing that incredible group of people the incredible city of Quebec. I spent the evenings sitting in pubs and folk bars with the delightful people I work with. The whole time, still marvelling that I was where I was and I'd been where I'd been and I was headed where I was headed. One day after getting back to Toronto, I headed ... read more

Toronto is my Vacation (as they would call it here) Town. As Mini, Derry and Norma (girls I either lived with or worked with in Oz) all live either in the city or close enough to it so this is my catch up time. The train up was good, didn’t really see much on the way up but the seats had good leg room and really comfortable. However even though we left on time 7.15 am in the morning we still managed to get into Toronto 5 hours late due to Customs and work on the tracks so didn’t get in till quarter to one into Toronto but it actually wasn’t that bad apart from the fact that I ran out of food, yes that right I made sandwiches, I’ve learnt from my past backpacking blunders ... read more

I know I know its been so long and I have sooo much to write about but I have really really good excuse right now and I am taking full advantage by blatantly using it! I have utilised the full Canadian services of police, ambulance and fire! All in one go. I was in a car accident. Yep. Just living the whole Canadian experience to the max as you might say. Picture driving on the wrong side of the road, turning left and a car going into the passenger side (right), which was where I was. (Also know as T-boned) The car lifted from the road, spun a few times and landed on a grassy bank facing the wrong direction. I was crushed in between the door and the middle console. It hurt quite a ... read more

We had a great time in Toronto with our friends Ken and Katie and nephew/cousin Jeremy. After over three weeks of Mexican quisine we were definetly ready to dig into the Thai curry and lemon pie Katie had ready for us when we arrived. The next day Ken set us up with bikes and we went to the island, hung out on the clothing optional beach for a bit (sorry no pics) then cycled around. Later we met Jeremy downtown for dinner and refreshments.... read more

In exactly a week today I will be on a plane to Lima, and spend 6 months in South America. As the clock ticks away, I grow more anxious each day. Every morning when I'd wake up, I'd experience an euphoria that no words can express, followed by waves of uncertainty, that puts even my normally calmed self in an indescribable uneasy state. After all, 6 months is a long time, considering I've only came back from Brazil just 6 months ago. Anyways, this shall be a good experience, and I look forward to it!! I will put up my itinerary in a few days.... until then... read more
