Spent New Years weekend in Victoria, BC mainly to go to Buchart Gardens and see the holiday lights (one of the only things I like about the holidays) but was also hoping to see another great castle. Last year I went to Craigdarroch Castle but this time we decided to go to Hatley Castle (aka Royal Roads University). The only problem was that it was closed for the holidays of course! The gardens were nice but wasn't worth the 40 min bus ride each way. ... read more

It's the morning of departure but I'm feeling so, so torn. RD and I have nothing planned, as of right now the uncle we'll be staying with doesn't even know when we're arriving. This is the mother of all disorganized trips, don't think I've travelled this randomly before. It's nice but there is a certain amount of discomfort that comes with this "not-knowing." Anywho, I'm sure things will be fine once I'm on my way. Not as excited about going to KL as I thought I'd be but like I said, once RD and I meet up and we're at the airport...excitement overload I'm sure! Right now, I'm just dreading all the goodbyes to be said. Love being on the road but it's getting more difficult to leave each time. ... read more

3 Weeks from today I will be just about to get up for my first day in Thailand. Last weekend Katie and I decided to skip the Full Moon party. We didn't want to waste a precious day or even two recovering. Our new plan was just to go to Ko Chang (an island 6 hours South East of Bangkok), but it seems that the island will also be packed. I think we are just going to head into Bangkok for a day or two now and head north as soon as possible. Then save the beach lounging for later, when it will hopefully be quieter. ... read more

Hi all. I've been in Victoria on Vancouver Island in Canada for a week now. Unfortunately my stay has been confined to almost only my relatives house. After a downfall of snow on Sunday, the city basically shut down! I've basically stuck indoors since then- not even leaving the house on monday!! very boring. I did get a little sight seeing done on Saturday though as Karen- my mums cousin, took me on the scenic tour up the east coast of the island a little as we made our way home after having coffee at Ogden Point I think it's called. It's a very pretty view from there as you look across the water to the Olympic Mountains on USA mainland- they were all snowcapped and pretty. Since then all I've really seen is a little ... read more

I think I'm going to use this site for my trip as people can subscribe to my blog. So my flight is booked, Ive gotten my shots and am trying to plan for the trip. I'm flying out on December 30th via Vancouver and Tokyo to arrive in Bangkok on December 31st at about 10:30 PM. This is my current thoughts on where I will go. Though this may change at any time and probably will. I think Im going to stay at the airport and grab the fist flight to to Ko Samui. There is a flight at 6AM and I hear if you sleep with a little sign stuck to you that says " Please wake at X time" chances are very good someone will. From there it is a ferry ride to ... read more

I awoke on Sunday morning to snow on the ground in Calgary! I thought I would escape from it all, but no such luck. My last day in the City was spent with close friends and running a few errands. The next morning it was time to head out of Calgary, it was a chilly -13! I packed up the last of my belongings in my Jimmy and said goodbye to Misha. That was tough. She couldn’t figure out why all our stuff was gone and I was leaving without her. I closed the door and fought the urge to go back in for one last cuddle. I headed over to my friend Ashlin’s where she made me breakfast before sending me on my way. Stopping to take a few pictures of winter and the mountains, ... read more

I attempted packing again today but did not find much success. Even though I've sorted some more things, I still only have one box put away for storage. It is a little bit intense for me considering that I'm packing away everything except for a travel backpack worth of things. I also don't want to have a lot of possessions lying around in boxes. So... some tough decisions must be made. What also has me a bit stressed is that this is my first time travelling out of the country since I was 12. Basically I've never left the continent and now I'm doing it all on my own. I'm going to New Zealand for a year on a Working Holiday Visa and I don’t have any plans other than to go where the wind takes ... read more
