Have good luck with the wetherconditions, blue sky and no rain so far, exceptional for november. Marijke en Luc... read more

Here are some more pics from around and about Victoria. Can't say we've actually been doing much. Ben has been studying, me working and in my spare time trying to deal with the kilograms of apples we picked from our neighbour's tree. ... read more

Well, we tried to get all the girls on a road-trip to Victoria last year before Jen had her baby & Kerry had a bit more flexible schedule, but it just never happened. So Nicole & I just picked a date before the Holidays this year and head up to Victoria for the weekend. There was a mix-up on the ferry schedule, but we eventually we made it up for a quick stay. We'll have to make plans to come back up next Spring or Summer with everyone ;-)... read more

We've been in Canada for 6 weeks now, and a number of things have struck me about the place. The thing we Kiwis have found most alarming is the sheer ruggedness of the wildlife here. I thought it was odd that our flatmate instructed us not to let the cats out of the house during the day. Being cats, they spend most of their day in respective baskets snoozing, but I figured they could probably do with a good run around the yard. At the very least, the cats could use the garden rather than making a mess of the litter tray. Was our flatmate being over cautious about the chance of it being run over by a car? No. It turns out there are a number of wild beasties about that will snatch your family ... read more

The story as told by Ben: "Both me and Kat did our 8km race today. We both had a great run but neither of us positioned ourselves very well so spent the first few minutes elbowing children and old people out of the way. Not very smart with a crowd of 2000 runners. Felt shattered at about the 5km mark when this chick came up on me and I decided to keep pace. Eventually she broke me, took off and finished 2 seconds in front, next time I'll leave the hardcore girls alone. Came in feeling pretty knacked at the finish but felt much better when the guy behind me collapsed on the ground and puked everywhere. Still my arse muscles are so sore I feel like I've spent a week in rimutaka prison. Our times ... read more

Brian’s Unique Place - September 2, 2007 I read recently where Vancouver was perhaps the most desirable large city in the world in which to live. Victoria, it’s neighbor across the water on Vancouver Island, might well be rated very highly as a most desirable smaller city. This city is the capital of the large province of British Columbia. Brian lives there on Government Street, just a short walk from the provincial legislature, from Inner Harbour, and from Beacon Hill, all part of this city with a distinctive British flavour at the core of it’s tourist attractions. We have been enjoying our several days here after invading Brian’s private space late Thursday; days of a brief vacation that soon will draw to a close. Each morning we have walked along the trails that stretch I suppose ... read more

We started our adventure in Nemwmarket on Augest 23rd and started the long haul drive straight to Calgary. It took about 37 hours of driving to get there and there were many good times along the way which include: jumping hay bails, seeing the town Fargo, all night driving shifts with Rob and Matt karaoke (Hey There Dalialah is our specialty!!!), running into a closed border crossing, tons of free cell and lots of sitting. We stayed in Calgary for two nights and the highlights include: Drumheller (a town in the badlands dedicated to Dinosaurs), the Hoo Doos, Chinook Mall, visted Shauni, Craig and David for a delicious waffle brekfast...From Calgary we headed to Canmore to stay and to see Banff/ Lake Louise: Hiked up Lake Louise and it was really nice, saw Banff Springs ... read more
