After Edinburgh we made our way to the Isle of Skye and stopped over in Fort William for the night. Went to a pub and let Greg legally sample the poison. There was a band comprised of two guitar players, one looking just like my 8th grade history teacher, and one with a beard he could tuck into his belt (I'm not exagerating!) They were good but Grandpa was disappointed that they played more Irish music more than Scottish. They sang a song about Cobh (a town between Cork and the coast) and it made me sad. We stayed in the dingiest, creepiest standing structure I have ever encountered. It was gross! The bed sagged so deep in the middle I practically had to tie myself to the side to keep from rolling on down in ... read more

Hi, My name’s Nick. I’m 30 years old and I live in South West London. I work for an IT company just outside London and I’m originally from Scotland. I’ve been living in this great World city for four years now. I’ve always had an ambition to travel but for one reason or other have not done more than a couple of weeks at a time to any one place. I never did the “year out” that so many people have the privilege of doing before or after university. I’ve envied the freedom of having such a long time off to explore the World; to set off with a vague plan of where to go and what to do; then change plans as new opportunities come along. I’ve seen a number of other people going on ... read more

I forgot to tell you the funniest thing! Today, while in Central London waiting to cross the crosswalk, this guy on a bicycle yelled at a guy on a motorcycle. He first yells "Hey, what the f@%k are you doing?" And the guy on the motorbike yelled "you're a f--ing wanker!" then the guy on the bike yells back "Twaaat". I'm thinking that one of the guys cut the other off, I don't know but I did hear them yell at each other, it was hilarious!! Thought you might find that interesting.... read more

Hello Everyone!! I arrived to Nottinghill (near Hyde Park) and very near to Central London. We (the Butler group) are staying in a hotel for a couple of days for orientation before we go to our university. I leave for my university on Thursday afternoon. I didn't really do much yesterday, when I actually arrived, because I was so tired. I did go to a pub near our hotel called The Swan. It is nice and very quaint. I tried some mildly warm beer and I also had, yes!, cold beer too. I went to bed at 10pm London time which would have been 4pm our time in Indiana. I am sharing a very small room with two other people, and surprisingly and oddly enough, I am the only girl sharing a room with the opposite ... read more

Visiting a place is always best seen through a local! Thanks to Roddy, we saw Scotland and also saw the inside of a few pubs. Joe and I stayed in Bishopbriggs-Glasgow with Roddy’s brother and fiancé. We stumbled upon a fine day in Scotland where everyone was outside in shorts, sandals and pints of beer in their hands. Meeting up with a few past and new friends, we chatted about the memories of Australia, told a few stories and then proceeded to have a night out in Glasgow. Still a nice day in Scotland, Joe and I checked out the city center and met up with everyone at an official Scottish BBQ. Aye—as the Scots answer to everything—“You should go see this part of Scotland; well I have never been there but I’ve heard it’s lovely.” ... read more

Allright... so my last night in iceland I opted to not pay for a room and because I had to catch the bus to the airport at 5 am. And conveniently so... people partied on fri. night until about 6 am. So I cut out early around 4 am... walked back to the hostel... got my things and hit the road. Well I was dead tired when I got to london. So I finally got to my hostel (somewhere near the Soho district) and all I wanted to do was take a nap. Chris Rose... our lovely friend from England had told me to stay in Soho because it was so centrally located. Well he was right. As I lied down in my bed around 2 in the afternoon, I read on the bottom of ... read more

On the way to Edinburgh we stopped at the queens favorite wool mill to look at blankets and sheep. : ) I bought some lap blankets for gifts and a rain jacket that came in handy more than almost anything I packed on my entire trip. It RAINED in Scotland! And I'm from Seattle- I know rain! Anyways the wool mill was cool to see. I walked out into the field with UG and chased the sheep around for a while. My fun ended quickly, it was a mine field out there if you know what I mean... Got back in the car and crossed the border between England and Scotland and of course took pictures again : ) Scotland is very hilly but it was one of my favorite places.... read more
