Our flight finally arrived in the UK at around 10am. The weather was a bit dreary as one would expect in London but everyone seemed to be in good spirits as we finally arrived in Europe!!! We were a bit on edge though, it being the 4th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks as well as the recent London Underground bombings. We made it this far and weren't about to let anything get in our way. Customs was pretty easy and within a half hour we had retrieved our bags and were ready to venture into the city. We decided to take the Underground from the airport to Russell Square. The entire journey would take a little less than an hour. Sitting there on the Underground was when the jet-lag appeared to set in. I looked ... read more

Well, Today I went to Windsor Castle and Eton College (which is actually like a private highschool, not university). Windsor was pretty neat. It is just massive. However, i was thinking about how much of a shame it is that the castle can't be considered original because it's been modified so much over the centuries. This is where the nerd in me will come out...promise I am not copying and pasting this, but I though about it on the bus all the way home. It was first built around 1090 by William the conqueror after the battle of Hastings. Although it was built from wood at first, it was rebuilt with stone about a century later. I imagine the stone fortress was very medieval looking...you know portcullis, drawbridge, wild gardens, not alot of pancy pants stuff. ... read more

After Bath we headed up to York to see the cathedral there. The York Cathedral is HUGE! All the buildings in the town are now occupied but baby Gap and Reebok but the buildings look the same. They have one street where the buildings lean so far out over the road that they almost the other side. The cathedral has 173 steps to the top of its tower. The whole family went up! We were all slightly out of breath at the top though. : ) Of course we had to walk along the top of a roof to get to the other flight of stairs (I hate heights!). I was seeing stars : ) But I did it and we got there. Georgeous view of the other towers and the city. The other cool thing ... read more

Ian and I headed into London today to hit our last few tourist sights before I leave tomorrow. We first took the tube over to Abbey Road. It was basically just a normal cross walk. There was an "Abbey Road" sign next to it where people had signed their names. Also, the Abbey Rd. studios were across the street where the Beatles had done some recording. Afterwards we headed over to meet my friend Zacahary who just moved to London at the end of July. Zacahary left San Francisco with a partial plan, and I have to say ended up on his feet. He is house sitting for someone through work in Notting Hill and has a cleaning lady who comes twice a week. Nice! Ian, Zachary, and I headed out to the Portobello market in ... read more

Hello again A couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to attend this special event (Rach knows people who know people on the inside!!). We couldn't pass up the opportunity to get glamed up and legless with a bunch of Aussies at the Australian High Commission. The night turned out to be a blast. Rach, JK and Simone attended along with Jannah and Bronya Glynn who work at the High Commission. As this was technically a staff function, beyond the formal dress there were realatively few formalities with most people letting their hair down. As you can see from the photos, we were confronted with a chocolate fountain amongst other things! The building itself is beautiful, with the vault downstairs having been used as Griswald's bank in Harry Potter. This would definitely have to go ... read more

After Dublin, we headed back to London to meet up with Mary since she finally was moving to England! We had a couple hours before we met her and since we were tired we decided to take a nap in the airport...Kevin will sleep anywhere and I think slept that whole day, on the plane, in the airport on the floor, on the train, on the bus, on the underground, at Mary's apartment, under a tree...seriously give him 2 minutes and he's out. So we meet up with Mary and it took forever to find out where she lived. Then we went downtown and looked at some buildings from a distance and ate dinner. The next day which was Friday we walked all over London sightseeing. You know the usual, big ben, parliament, Buckingham Palace, the ... read more

Caught the bus into town and made our first stop Anne Franks House. Really wanted to see that as I plan on reading the book when I get back home. Arty, Rohan and I met up and had a drink later before checking out one of the many sex shops, some very interesting stuff!!! We wanted to find the supermarket one!! But didn’t managed to unfortunately! Hehe!! Rohan and I headed off to do the Heineken Experience and see just how many of the free beers we could skull in the shortest amount of time… which turned out to be not many!! They have a think on the highways called ‘Auto Barn’ where you can go as fast as you like on certain parts of the highway, ours taxi did over 160km/hr and I have to ... read more
