After Bath we headed up to York to see the cathedral there. The York Cathedral is HUGE! All the buildings in the town are now occupied but baby Gap and Reebok but the buildings look the same. They have one street where the buildings lean so far out over the road that they almost the other side. The cathedral has 173 steps to the top of its tower. The whole family went up! We were all slightly out of breath at the top though. : ) Of course we had to walk along the top of a roof to get to the other flight of stairs (I hate heights!). I was seeing stars : ) But I did it and we got there. Georgeous view of the other towers and the city. The other cool thing about York is that the wall that was used to guard the city is still intact. We walked around the city on the wall, didn't take too long. The park in the city has a crumbling abby or something. It looks like a very old castle but it was really pretty. Must have been part of the wall at some point.

Gargoyles

I love the detail in churches that few will see. These gargoyles are way high up. I saw them when I was walking along the roof of the cathedral
