Tuesday 17.11.2009 Day 34 Buying a car in the UK We got up and had a look on line for car prices and dealers around Birmingham. We then when and got a GPS and a thing so my iPod would play thought the radio. We used the GPS to take us to a few of the car dealers. We found a car we liked. We tried to go for a test drive but the battery was flat so we put a deposit on and said we would take if for a test drive the next day. We stayed in the same place again as last night and Looked for a cheaper place on line for the next night. ... read more

Right, so after weeks of 'thinking' about packing my rucksack and not actually doing anything about it, I decided to take the challenge of packing it on Friday night after work - which turned out a disaster because I couldn't squeeze everything in! After a bit of debating and taking out things and repacking, it eventually got done today - see photos for the end result (noting my grin being pleased of myself). Yay! :) It's 1am now and I thought I'd give my blog a go (mainly to test it beforehand) and probably because I feel I'll probably get no sleep because there's just too much going on in my head at the moment and i'm feeling very anxious. But i'm going to try now as I've got the journey to Heathrow to look forward ... read more

At the moment Kat is packing her rucksack, very organised I know considering we dont leave until Saturday; but the real reason is that we're busy tomorrow, thursday and friday. 10/10/2009 Birmingham We left our home in Spain last Thursday to begin our next epic adventure ie our trip to Thailand, Burma (or Myanmar as it is properly named)and Bali. Once again we are flashpacking around SE Asia as part of our "Gap Year for Oldies". We didn't have the opportunity to do it when we were young so now we are retired we plan on seeing as much of the world while we still can. However, we can't bear to leave our mad dog Ollie for more than a couple of months at a time so this is the only way to do it. Since retiring we have travelled to Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and San Francisco. Leg two took us to Bangkok, Vietnam, Cambodia, Kuala Lumpur and back to Thailand to Koh ... read more

Bonjourno Blog Readers! We're just packing for our trip to Peru and thought we should send out a 'taster' blog for anybody thinking of following us on our travels. If you're reading this then save the link so you can get to it quickly each time we update it! I think it should be http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/Tink-And-Laura/ . The plan of action is to fly into Lima, get a coach to Arequipa then move to Puno before spending a few days in Bolivia via Copacabana and La Paz. We'll then visit Cusco and Machu Picchu before flying to Puerto Maldonado in the Amazon Basin. We're thinking of travelling across to Brazil at some point since we're only about 4 hours coach ride away! We then fly back to Lima and do some last minute present shopping before coming ... read more

The Ashes Day 474 (29/7/09) We left warm and sunny Lisbon bound for Birmingham. It was gonna be a long day, first a taxi to the airport for check-in and our flight was already 30minutes behind schedule and it was about to get longer. After an hour queue through passport check we finally boarded and left for London 1 and half hours late. Fortunately, we'd booked our bus with just enough time to grab a bite to eat and not miss our bus which too ran 20minutes late. We arrived into a rainy Birmingham and waited for Shea and Justin who were on the next bus. We got a taxi back to our old place in Moseley where Kara and Leanne and Brian were waiting (after a slight mishap of their own). Gaffy arrived shortly after ... read more

Well, if you were thinking we'd had enough chocolate this trip, you were probably right. However, we took Uncle Paul's advice and went to Cadbury World in Bournville just south of Birmingham. This is the original Cadbury manufacturing plant and is still operating. We had an amazing time and a sort of Willy Wonka tour including more samples! Nobody fell into the chocolate lake but we did get to write our names in chocolate! After the tour, there was another building near the kids play area that had another couple of brief movies to watch followed by a warm cup of melted chocolate with whatever candy you wanted! Soooooooooooo yummy! When we got home, Nigel and Lori both strangely felt the need to squeeze a run in.....Which was then cancelled out very quickly by a final ... read more

Hello Peeps! Just thought i'd try and find out how to work this 'blog thing' by writing something of an introduction. I'm Collette, I'm a 37 year old podiatrist and i'm shacked up with a Stuart a 39 year old draughtsman. We've lived together in a rented flat in Peterborough for just over a year before deciding that the NHS and Anglian Water weren't really 'doing it for us'. So much so, that one evening after a custom bike show at Charters pub and too many units of high strength Top-Deck we decided to jack in our jobs get rid of all of our 'stuff' and disappear around the world on motorbikes. Obviously this was not without its problems, the first one being that I hadn't ridden a motorcycle for about 10 years and Stuart hadn't ... read more
