We left our home in Spain last Thursday to begin our next epic adventure ie our trip to Thailand, Burma (or Myanmar as it is properly named)and Bali. Once again we are flashpacking around SE Asia as part of our "Gap Year for Oldies". We didn't have the opportunity to do it when we were young so now we are retired we plan on seeing as much of the world while we still can. However, we can't bear to leave our mad dog Ollie for more than a couple of months at a time so this is the only way to do it.

Since retiring we have travelled to Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and San Francisco. Leg two took us to Bangkok, Vietnam, Cambodia, Kuala Lumpur and back to Thailand to Koh Phi Phi. Leg three was India last year and this trip is back to Bangkok (cos we like it there) Myanmar (cos we want to see somewhere relatively unspoiled by mass tourism ). Bali because Ann wanted to be somewhere exotic for her big birthday and again back to Thailand to Chang Mai. Guess we will know every inch of Bangkok airport by the time we have finished as all flights seem to start and end there!!! Deep Joy!!

The holiday really begins on Tuesday when we fly from Gatwick to Bangkok but today we are in Birmingham. We have just celebrated Ann's forthcoming BIG birthday in style with a gourmet lunch courtesy of Karen and Gareth. It was absolutely gorgeous. We could get used to this life but better not or we would require an extra seat on the airplane!!

Have a great trip.
Hope you both have a fantastic time envy you particularly Bali. Will enjoy reading about your adventures in between slaving away on the laptop writing reports ahhhh. Back from Fuerteventura had a great time didn't want to come back as usual - miss the warmth and can see the tan fading fast - never mind Tenerife beckons in April.
