Hi all!! I got a job! I went to the first group interview I've ever been to yesterday. There were 40 of us interviewing for 5 spots at a clothing store, and we had to answer really weird questions and do really weird activities, as if we were at camp or something. It was quite the experience and by the time I left, I didn't even know if I wanted one of the jobs considering the weird style of interviewing, but they called this morning and said I can start on Monday. This is not the ideal job since I won't be making very much money, and won't be able to take time off for the first four weeks of training, but I think I'll like the job since I really liked all the people I've ... read more

Hello all! Alyssa and I are doing well in London. We've now got a place of our own, well sort of. We live in a house-share, which is a flat of our own (a room: bed, closet, fridge, desk, tv) and share 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. The place is nice, it's located in western London, in the North Kennsington/Notting Hill area, yeah...just like the movie. It's in a little cottage type house, made of stone, ceramic, roof, and a little fenced in garden, oh...how cute. So now we're in the process of trying to find jobs. It's proven to be a bit difficult this time of year, but we're working hard at it. Yesterday we walked around all afternoon and handed out our CV's (resume) to just about every retail store we could find that ... read more

Countdown to my trip home Hi all - well I have 4 nights, 5 days till I head home for a quick visit and catch up with family and friends. Christmas and New Year in London The last few weeks have been very relaxed and cruisy. Christmas was spent at the house and we made a fantastic chicken and duck roast with all the trimmings. The fruit punch proved a great success and the cricket wasn't missed as boxing day came round. We had a great New Year at a local bar playing 80's music all night long and drinking cocktails till the early hours. Of all the luck, we got a taxi almost as soon as we left the building - too good! Now as the days creep closer to me heading off home, I'm ... read more

Hi everyone! Tom and I are staying in tonight since last night was pretty crazy, so I thought it would be nice to start the Blog. We've been in London for a few days now and are pretty well accustomed to how things work around here. The tube system is so simple and efficient. Everything is super expensive, which is the biggest downfall of this city, but so far we're liking it a lot and I think we're going to stay here for the next 2 1/2 months. It's nice being here not on such a strict time limit, like we have been on all of our other trips abroad. We've seen Big Ben and Parliament, walked around the big shopping areas and Piccadilly Square, which is the "Times Square" of London. We also set up ... read more

what a week... and unfortunately mostly not nice :( last thursday jaya and suhi started on their rabies injections (of which we need 3... and have to pay for!) when suhi was going to work she felt so unwell that she had to go back home and her parents had to take her straight to A&E... because she had an allergic reaction to the injection. It was very very bad reaction and it scared the hell out of everyone. Fortunately she only had to stay for one night and she is almost fully recovered now but it does mean that she cannot have any more of those injections obviously. So me and jaya will have to keep an extra close eye out for rabid monkeys and dogs and kick them out of suhi’s way! On the ... read more

London was REALLY cool. our hostel was within walking distance to Buckingham palace, and i got to see the changing of the guard. the night before we left, at St. Martins in the Field, i got to hear a baroque concert (which is my favorite musical period) all played in the church sanctuary by candellight. it was absolutely gorgeous. Christmas was on Sabbath, and I couldn't find an SDA church to attend, and i kind of freaked that i would offend somebody if i went to the nearby Anglican church because i don't know their customes, or whatever. so i walked in the park across teh street from Buckingham palace, which is absolutely gorgeous. it was really cold. i got to see the National Gallery, which was also really cool. there's a science museum in ... read more

I could barely contain my excitement upon arriving at Heathrow airport - our trip had begun! Rye and Jovan met us at the airport, and we arrived to a bright and sunny London (what is everyone complaining about?!). Despite minimal sleep the night before, a 23 hour uneventful BA trip, and a 6am arrival, I was ready to hit the town! After dropping our stuff off at Rye´s (we were spoilt with a spacious/warm home in Woodgreen) we had a jam-packed day, seeing all the things I dreamed of seeing in London.. This extensive week was filled with covering all the major sights, along with some fun and charming little places, thanks to our trusty tour-guide: Rye! My lasting memories of London include: - The morning at the Tate Modern Gallery (Picasso´s), and Monet´s at the ... read more

Jingle bells, jingle Bells, Jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to drink, on a dull old London Day Hay! Our first Xmas here was great! Santa arrived early and decided to stay cause he was to boozed. We had all the comforts of home with a massive roast and trimmings. Then it was time to open the gifts - the highlight of the day. 2 days later I rang Dad to say merry Xmas ,and sorry that I didn't give him a call on the day. I was then told that we had already spoken for about 1/2 hour Xmas morning. Must have been that eggnog! ... read more
