Mid week here. Pretty good weekend just gone. Work drinks Friday, then shot up to North London to catch up with Kara whose over on holiday from NZ. So stayed up there a while with Nix and Ali and Kara's mates. Sat morning woke up and talked to Ma & Pa, great to hear their voices! Headed up to Portobello Markets for a wander, bought a few knick knacks for the flat, not much else. Markets were pretty big really, (most of them are here, already spent a day discovering Camden Markets with Alistair a week or so ago), Portobello though runs right up into Notting Hill and through all the Antiques stalls, walked for ages. Sat night Matt called and I yarned to him for a while, caught up on all the goss and such. ... read more

I did a test pack of Shabana and my stuff into the bags the other day, we both of us ending up with about 10Kg of stuff. There are still a few more bits and bobs to go in but I think starting off light if the way to go. Shabana is also amazingly considering leaving some more stuff behind, although I think that may be a pre-emptive strike to allow her to bring one more pair of shoes. The house is an absolute state with the bathroom still not finished. There is dust everywhere and bags of grout, plaster and assorted bathroom junk still filling up the spare room. Hopefully it will all be finished soon. I finally sorted out some travellers cheques with travelex although I have to say it is the second website ... read more

Went to Scribe last night at "Neighbourhood" for Alistairs birthday. Was just like being at home! Room full of mainly kiwis, Montieths behind the bar (ooh that goes down so well!) and NZ hip hop blasting on a mega sound system. P-Money and Scribe were in FINE form, it made for an awesome night. Couple too many tequilas though which I felt this morning, but when you start at 9:30am, most of the hangovers gone! Quick update here on my flat. Moved into a place in Chiswick about a week ago. Nice, clean, warm place, right price. Set in a pretty quiet area about 15m from the Thames. Living with 3 others, 1 kiwi guy, Lee, 1 Aussie girl, Ayesha, 1 Frenchman, Ben. Nice enough crew, should be ok. Works only a 40 min trip when ... read more

Arrive in London at 1:30pm, and get a cab to the Royal National Hotel, where I had a room booked for the night. Get everything sorted out at 'The Basement' which handles all the Contiki bookings, and met Bridget in there. She had only landed at Heathrow that morning and looked very tired. After getting everything sorted in my room and having a quick refresh, I went down to the hotel reception where I was to meet Kylie. I didn't know what she looked like so just waited around to see if there was anyone that looked like they were waiting for me. I noticed someone sitting down reading that kept looking up, so I asked if she was Kylie. Thankfully this was Kylie. We left the hotel and made off in the direction I thought ... read more

Date: 04.09.2004 Destination: London, England Day: 1 London baby.. Finally after months of planning, ticket booking and head-banging, I am going to Great Britain. Basically, the trip is plan by me but the people going there are 4. So, you know how headache it is trying to find the cheapest flight, cheapest accomodation, cheapest ticket, cheapest everything.. The flight to London was from Dortmund Airport using Easyjet. One of the main budget airline in Europe. But the time flight was a bit out of shape. 10.00am. It took only 1 hour to reach there but because of time difference, it took us just few minutes. Ha! At last, we touched down at London Luton (also a small airport). We took a bus to Central London and the first impression is that London look a lot like ... read more

Bank holiday weekend!!!! Every year London has the Notting Hill Carnival on this weekend. It all started back in the 60's when a half Russian, half Cherokee lady called Ronnie Lazlet organised a childrens carnival, getting a bunch of West Indian guys to play the steel pan. These guys started the day playing a set at a pub, then when they went to the carnival they told the crowd what they were doing. Everyone went along with them. They just decided to head up the street playing and people started coming out of the woodwork, singing and dancing and joining in! This was the start of carnival and it just grew every year after that. It was to start with a celebration of West Indian / Carribian culture, but over the years the Jamacains joined in ... read more
