London was REALLY cool. our
hostel was within walking distance to Buckingham palace, and i got
to see the changing of the guard. the night before we left, at St.
Martins in the Field, i got to hear a baroque concert (which is my
favorite musical period) all played in the church sanctuary by
candellight. it was absolutely gorgeous. Christmas was on Sabbath,
and I couldn't find an SDA church to attend, and i kind of freaked
that i would offend somebody if i went to the nearby Anglican church
because i don't know their customes, or whatever. so i walked in
the park across teh street from Buckingham palace, which is
absolutely gorgeous. it was really cold. i got to see the National
Gallery, which was also really cool. there's a science museum in
London, also, that's about the size of the observatorium in San
Francisco, but not nearly as cool. (FYI Kristin... i'll take you
there sometime!) the day before Christmas I got to St. James, which
was really cool, because i bought a pass that let me get into a
bunch of stuff for "free" (the pass itself cost about 55 pounds,
which is over $100, but it also included a pass for the tube) and i
got to go up to the top of the cathedral. those pictures are posted
on my yahoo photos site. we shared a hostel room with (gasp) boys,
but they were italian guys, really fun to talk with, and we played
Uno for about two hours one night with them.
