Woke up to snow again yesterday... this time the fall had been much more heavy, and I headed out to take a look (and some photos) as Kerri headed off for work. I was lucky enough to see snow the first time, so to see it a second time... and this much of it... was a real treat! Freezing cold, but lovely. I wandered around for about two hours, mostly around the old Naval College in Greenwich. Very thankful for having brought thermal underwear with me, let me tell you! After a couple of hours, the cold started to get to me, so I headed into a lovely little place called Cafe Rouge for breakfast. Was very happy with my choice of 'Croque Madame', and hot tea.... read more

Well, I've been here almost a week now. Not sure if it feels as though I've been here for ages, or still just arrived. I've certainly been busy, that's for sure. Thursday 24th, I came to the locum agency (where I am now... gleefully taking advantage of the free internet access). It was only a fifteen or so minute walk from the hostel, and it was quite interesting to look around as I walked along. That evening, Kerri and her friend Anna came to meet me, and took me out for a drink, and a welcome dinner at Chiquitos, a Mexican restaurant on Leicester Square. Both the girls are lovely, and lots of fun. That night back at the hostel, the fire alarm went off at about 11pm. Thankfully, I hadn't long arrived back, so I ... read more

Nicola decided to come down to London for the weekend seeing as it was her last in the UK before heading off to South East Asia for 9 weeks. It was a pretty miserable day so we bussed to Greenwich, which from my flat takes about 10 minutes. We walked around the Old Royal Naval College and the Old Queens house, both are full of paintings, a lot of them featured travelers voyages such as Captain Cook. Nic and I were in hysterics at one of the paintings, it was of a guy who looked like Napoleon, but he had his pants pulled up so far that he was probably immediately rendered infertile. We weren’t allowed to take pictures but I have an everlasting mental picture anyway, gross. After laughing at Maurice Man-gina for a good ... read more

Hey Everyone, Still having a brilliant time though I miss you all. Have had a great weekend it’s been bonfire night which is really cool. You walk pas all these shops selling fireworks it’s really crazy. Everynight I hear all these bangs, thinking I’m living in a dangerous neighbourhood with lots of shooting but it’s just people letting off fireworks in their backyard! Last night I went to a party in Greenwich and then went to a firewors diosplay on Blackheath it was great. Later I found out Blackheath is the sight of a mass burial of bodies killed in the black plague, very interesting. But last night it was great fun went with a few nice people. Toay I went to Southwark Corps, it was a really great atmosphere really cool. You know how those ... read more

Well, the weekend has been and gone again and was spent exploring our surrounds, just for something different! Okay, saturday we visited Hamleys Toy Store, its the largest toy store in the uk, possibly all of europe (dont know, will have to look that one up) its featured on 'getaway' before, so we thought hey, if Catriona has seen it, we better have a squiz too! Its 7 stories high, and has absolutely everything a kid could dream of....even lollies (our personal fave section) we didnt buy anything, but pretty much played with everything and basically had a jolly good time. Sunday we headed for Greenwich (pronounced here as Grenitch) you know the place where you know what time it is, GMT! We had to change tubes at Tower Hill, so checked out the London Tower, ... read more

Farewell Woolwich. Goodbye to the walk from the station, the rubbish on the streets and the high police presence. Goodbye to the nice Indian lady in the shop who had my train ticket ready for me before I came in each day. Goodbye to evenings on the couch drinking too much red wine with Julia. Goodbye to the most quality power shower ever experienced. Hello Greenwich! Greenwich has been the area of choice for beer consumption and dining since I've been here in London due to its closeness to Woolwich, the fact it is full of nice restaurants and bars and that it is a nice central meeting point for the hockey girls. With the closing of the Woolwich Arsenal station for a few months to allow for DLR extension works I decided it was time ... read more

Oh the bliss of the three seconds of sun that is the London summer. It is truly a fantastic place to be when the sun is out and briefly makes you forget about the dismal rest of the year. Summer Weekend #1 was truly a magnificent one: the first weekend in my new house in Greenwich, hanging out with Manuela who is visiting from Melbourne, sun, barbecues, and food, food and food. All I seemed to do all weekend was sit and eat. The weekend of gluttony began with Food Event #1 on Friday night at one of my fave pubs, The Gypsy Moth in downtown Greenwich. Shane joined Mans and I for a bangers and mash dinner and beer consumption in the big beer garden out the back. Food Event #2 closely followed when we ... read more
