Yesterday was a tease, as to what the holidays will be like. Today was back to reality. The day at school went smoothly and I went to gym afterwards. July 12th I had a pretty cruisy day today. I had to supervise my Year 7 class, and teach Year 9’s and that was it. I went to gym and then around to Ravi’s who burnt a CD for me. July 13th Tonight was our staff break-up. A few of us met at the Treacle Mine where the Party Bus was picking us up from. The bus turned out to be like a school bus. The driver was huge, but seemed to be quite camp, and the music he played was corny. Everyone was in a good mood though. Our table was definitely the cool table. Ruth ... read more

I'm sure we've all experienced that small feeling of panic prior to passing through immigration - I just put it down to momentary paranoia. However, unfortunately for my brother Matt, his momentary paranoia turned into over 72 hours of hell! At 6:00pm on 27 June Matt entered the British immigration hall, happy that his journey from Australia was finally over, but when he told the immigration officer that he was here to get married - it all suddently got very serious. The short version of the story: - Aussies marrying Brits in the UK now need a special visa (as at Mar 2005) - Matt didn't know about this visa, nor did he have one - Threatened with immediate deportation to Canberra for the British Embassy to issue the visa - Got a 48 hour reprieve ... read more

Having only 2 classes today was excellent. I tried uploading photos, but the CD has a block on it. I stayed after school doing coursework with some of my students. I tried the internet café across the road, but it was too slow. July 4th It was coursework after school again tonight, and then I caught the train and went to the gym. July 5th I had to stay behind after school for the staff meeting and then I still went to the gym despite it being later than normal. Beck had the day off and went to Les Miserables with Kate for her birthday. July 6th I had coursework after school again before going to the gym. Matt and Ravi had a meeting and then went to the Prom. I gave it a miss in ... read more

We were up at 8 in the morning as Beck and Kez were doing the ‘Run 4 Life’ in the city. Kez drove in part of the way and then we caught the train. We met up with Kez’s work mates who were doing the run as well. It’s quite warm today, and I’m really struggling with either hay fever, or a cold, or both. The girls left me with their bags, and then I went and met Rory outside the Princess of Wales Hotel. Rory and I followed the girls around for parts of their 5km walk taking photos. Rory got the girls water with 1km to go, and then they ran the rest. Afterwards we went to a pub for drinks and a snack, we didn’t stay too long though as I was struggling ... read more

I felt pretty ordinary when I got up this morning. I haven’t been sleeping that well. Matty picked me up for cricket, as we are both in the 1’s today, which is great as Matt is the reason I decided to play for Belhus. We won the toss and bowled first (!). I bowled very badly. 15 runs off my first over. My first 5 overs went for forty something. I came back on late in the game and didn’t fare much better. The end result was 9 overs, 1 for 64. My worst figures ever I think. There was a quick change of innings due to the soccer being on, and we were soon 2/9. This meant when I came in I was batting with Matty. We started slowly then built a partnership. In one ... read more

It was tough getting up in the morning, but surprising school went alright. I got home from school in time to watch the soccer, Australia versus Italy. Poor Beck couldn’t get out of work. Italy looked dangerous until half time, but it was still 0-0. When one of their men was sent off it gave us a great chance, but we couldn’t capitalise. With 3 seconds left a penalty was awarded to Italy for an excellent dive. This was one of many during the game by the Italians. I felt sorry for Lucas Neill who I feel epitomises how Australians play sport; hard, but fair, without any fuss, and of course well. He handled it well though I think. The commentators laid the boots into the Aussies and Hiddink after the game with the advantage of ... read more

I didn't have the best of sleeps, which led to me struggling through the day. I was very tired and snuck out of school right on 3. I tried to get a nap in, and I wasn't interested in the gym. Beck had an even longer day than me. I did manage to finish off exam marking in preparation for reports. 20/6/2006 I did go to gym today, but I didn't have much motivation, feel a bit flat. I watched the England versus Sweden game. Barracking for Sweden for two reasons: 1. I want to see England versus Germany (huge rivalry). 2. Ammunition at school. 21/6/2006 I stayed back at school to input results for reports. I don't have a strong understanding of the levels and process, but I got it done and then caught the ... read more

Hey gang No exciting photos this time i'm afraid as this is the "i'm home and depressed" blog. Finished up my time in Oz with a few days back with the Farnams and there were many tears at the airport - well mainly mine i was the poor mug going home after all. Flight was delayed a little so i had the fun of exploring Melbourne airport which believe me is not all that exciting. When i eventually did get on the plane i managed to win the seat next to the most annoying passenger on earth. I don't know how the flight attendants didn't throw him out at 32,000 feet without the aid of a parachute. Apart from my annoying little friend the flight wasn't too painful. Although watching Brokeback Mountain was. Do not recommend ... read more

We decided not to go to London today. We just had a relaxing day at home. I ended up doing a lot of marking of exam papers. Beck and I talked about some of our plans for the rest of the year, before watching Conspiracy Theory and then going to bed. 12/6/2006 Colin organised a TV in the Careers library so I could watch Australia play Japan in their first World Cup game (thanks Col). It would have to be the hottest room in the world, and the Aussies also made me sweat until 6 minutes to go, then the flood gates opened. Colin watched most of the game with me, while some other guys popped in and out, and lots of the guys stopped watching at the 80th minute, and then didn't believe me when ... read more

Up early to get milk and bread. Rod was also up early, as Kez and Rod are going camping for a few days. This means that I'm 'batching' it. Work went surprising well. I went to the gym with Matty who also had a big week off, so we hit the steam room. For someone who is 'batching' it I was very quiet, I just cooked dinner and then headed off to bed. 6/6/2006 Beck arrived back today from Croatia. Apparently the weather was a lot better after I left, and they went back for seafood at the same restaurant in Troger. Just what I wanted to hear! Beck even had a bit of sun burn/tan to prove it. 7/6/2006 Beck went back to work today. Kez and Rod arrived back from camping, with Rod having ... read more
